And Tony Blair would know, coming from the UK. They were the ones to 1st build concentration camps. Concentration camps in which 25000 Afrikaaner women and children died of typhoid, dysentry and starvation during the 2nd South African war just 28 years before the Nazi's had the same idea. t It's the year of the Pig.

I don't know what possilutely means... but I'm 100% with you. Sick to the stomach. t It's the year of the Pig.

Thanks! I have to admit it's been a lot of fun getting back to work after our holiday! All this - and more dives tomorrow! t It's the year of the Pig.

How much did you spend in 2004 on skydiving
Tonto replied to reddevil1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I guess I broke about even. Bought 2 Mirages, 2 PD 126 R's, a 2nd hand Safire 119 + Reline, an S3, Pantz, tickets to the US, a pair of Neptunes, some dives in Eloy, a BMI course and 30 min in the tunnel + accomodation and car rental. About 440 dives for the year of which around 100 were fun jumps. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Cool. Thank you. I'll take it out to the DZ this weekend. t It's the year of the Pig.

Hi Baart, I don't know. Airspeed equals lift - and we have a lot of airspeed. I know sprinters run faster at altitude, and golf balls travel further... I must confess I wasn't really impressed by the distance covered by those who appeared to know what they were doing in Eloy, but don't know what they were trying to achieve, or if they were even trying. They did lots of clever tricks I could never manage, but never covered much ground. The (senior) landing area in Eloy is very short. We have jumpers (younger, braver, jumping FX and VX 94's) who seem to cover more ground here but don't do tricks. I think speed = distance. I think that the air even in Eloy and Elsinore felt like flying in glue, and I don't really know how to do that. Although I swoop - I'm not really trying and I'm not jumping a swoop canopy or even a high wing loading. I just want to stand them up so I don't tear my S3, or my Pantz. What I do know is that a LOT of people fall down when it gets hot here. People with 400 - 500 skydives on moderately loaded canopies get caught out around lunch time in Summer and get really dirty. Flying at altitude is a skill that needs to be developed. Patrick De Gayardon discovered that in Dec 1992 at Mmabatho (surface Elevation about 3500 ft AMSL - about 100+ Deg F) when he flew, and flew, and flew until he was eventually stopped by a barbwire topped chain link fence. I think that was back in the days of the Blue Track. He certainly expected to fly less far than he did - but then I don't think that swooping was his strong point. Time will tell. t It's the year of the Pig.

Absolutely Impossible. History proved that. t It's the year of the Pig.

Spot on. Reading this thread every fibre of my exsistance is screaming Events Cascade!! In reply to the origional poster.... It's never one thing that causes an accident. There are usually a minimum of 3 links in the chain. 1. 1st night jump 2. Unfamiliar DZ (Don't think 1 jump during the day will change this.) 3. Higher surface elevation 4. Possible borrowed gear. Bye! (or see you in incidents...) t It's the year of the Pig.

Dude. You can't pummel us. We're perfect and you'd lose. Badly. t It's the year of the Pig.

Probably? Sudan, Darfur... It's happening NOW. Only 70 000 people so far - but right NOW. t It's the year of the Pig.

What you saying? You think cos I'm old I don't have situational awareness? Huh? Wanna race an old man to boarding point? t It's the year of the Pig.

129! Ha! I'm stuck at 162! If I could get down to 129 - imagine the times I could get on my S3! t It's the year of the Pig.

March 16th 2002 is it. Tandems as a pax don't count. Only one parachute - and that dive is in someone elses logbook... t It's the year of the Pig.

No. http://www.technicalvirgin.com It does take a tongue in cheek look at the "When did I start" question WRT sex though. I would imagine that in the current US political climate that it would not be safe for work, however. Even though there is no nudity, the subject matter may be viewed as "sensitive" by some. t It's the year of the Pig.

The date of your 1st jump is when you started skydiving. Don't get all "Technical Virgin dot com" on me now! Mine was 02 Feb 1985, even though I only did 20 jumps in that year with a break of 7 months between jumps 10 and 11. t It's the year of the Pig.

Reserve Repack. How religiously do you have yours done?
Tonto replied to taz9420's topic in Gear and Rigging
2 x a year, but that's legal here. Recently it's been more often than that, as I've been buying new reserves and have switched from Tempo 120's to PD 126 R's. t It's the year of the Pig. -
I have a former AFF student and friend who will be jumping there shortly. He has 300+ dives and has done the 1st flight course with me. He has his own GTi. Any BMI's or Bird people out there who could help him get into the flock there? t It's the year of the Pig.

Does he have it up at Icarus? I saw a pic of some dude who'd had it tattoo'd on himself.. I wonder if he did a poll 1st to see what other skydivers thought. If Manny has it up at Icarus, that's probably a good thing - cos newbies LOVE that quote, and he trains them in the school and sells them equipment. I just visualise zombies from "Night of the living dead" or "Thriller" with their eyes turned skywards, tripping over things. t It's the year of the Pig.

Is that quote from the script of "Troy"? I have no alternate message. t It's the year of the Pig. -
You think a big box on the side of an ugly helmet makes it look pretty? I thought the helmets were the same? Look at the model head in the pic. She has cuts carved into her cheekbones to make the helmet look smoother! http://aerostore.com/Shopping/ShowItem.asp?ItemID=A02450 Check it out. t It's the year of the Pig.

I don't do Tandems at the moment. I've done 750 tandems. I won't wear a handycam. I don't wear a camera when I'm doing AFF either. Maybe I don't have the head space for it. Maybe I can't multitask. Maybe I like the bond I share with outside video people. Maybe I like sharing the experience with the student. t It's the year of the Pig.

Two pets, sitting in a box on the back seat, heading for the vet. One says, while looking at the inside of her cardboard box, "Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed." The other replies "You will never be more lovely than you are now." t It's the year of the Pig. -
