  1. You've done it already. You called them Minute men. t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. Well - it's happened already. Japan launched a pre emptive strike against the US Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbour. They did so KNOWING that at that point in the war, they would not be able to expand into the Pacific if that fleet were intact. I beleive that the 7th December is still regarded by many Americans as the "Day of infamy." That's probably the way the rest of the world sees the US. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. Hi Chuck Within PASA, which governs the sport of Skydiving in South Africa, there is the "Sports skydiving accociation." This is divided into the different competition disiplines such as Formation Skydiving, Canopy Formation etc. The category "Artistic Events" covers Freestyle, freeflying, skysurfing and... Wingsuits. Now... since there is no competition format - I want Wingsuits out from under their control. I don't like all the rules they're making for something they don't do. If Wingsuits do begin to compete (and they will..) then I can see the need to have them controlled. Until then? Lets be free - as a Bird! It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Umm.. Ed didn't teach us that... How did you get to learn tips like that? t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. She's ALWAYS busy! I'm waiting for her enthusiasm to inspire another order! Half the people we're training right now bought suits on reputation alone. We don't have demo's to fit the very large or the very small yet, but time may change that. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. Agreed on all points - but the CIA really doesn't want to predict that - do they? It's a matter of time until OPEC changes the price of a Barrel of oil from Dollars to Euro's. The US may well go to war over that, but how many more fronts can they afford? Iran is brewing. Think NK will do nothing if they know the US is over extended? Quite simply, I think the world doesn't beleive that ANY ecconomy, regardless of its reputation or size, can afford to spend money - at the pace that the US is spending it - on the things it's spending it on, and survive indefinately. The US is maxing out it's credit cards right now buying things it never thought it would need 4 years ago, but unfortunately - not enough armour for its Hummers. Iraq appears to be a bottomless ecconomic pit - and the "Coalition of the willing" are not really the richest nations on the planet. I think ALL americans are probably a bit surprised at how much this has cost since the "Mission Accomplished" sign went up. It's all about faith. I have no doubt that the US will remain the world's only superpower for at least another 50 years, but if some people's predictions about the Dems being done for for another 20 years are correct, due to their stance on issues like abortion etc - that its the start of a long downhill slide. Time will tell. Meanwhile - start saving up those Euros for the new range of suits coming out! t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Chat to the pilots. You'll learn plenty! Porters are on the slow side when it comes to run in speed. Otters and Skyvans are comparable. King Airs can be on the quick side, but some pilots (and some mods) make them more comfy to climb out of. CASAs Antonovs and C-130's are high speed birds with speeds of about 140 kts IAS being about normal, and 200 kt run ins very possible. I'd imaging there is increased wear on the suit - but your suit is there to use up, right? It's a depreciating asset. Wear it out before the new designs hit the scenes! (He he... speaking as a dealer, of course!) t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. I wouldn't call 100kts a high speed pass. In Summer - at 14 000 ft (15 600 odd in Eloy) I'd imagine most aircraft would stall at a ground speed of 100 kts. 150 or 200 kts IAS... that's a different story. t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. Or the fact that due to the falling dollar - Birdman prices are now based on the Euro? t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. Poor old me. I need to do AFF to pay for my dives, my gear and my recent trip to the US... so I only do maybe 3 or 4 Birdman jumps before I need to go do something else. It's a tough job. But I guess SOMEONE has to do it! t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. As safe and reliable as they always were. If you need support for your Tempo, Aerodyne should be able to help you out. t It's the year of the Pig.

  20. 3 unofficial bond films? I thought only "Never" was a bandit.. My favorite? Living Daylights. Mainly for the Gibralter opening scene - the re introduction of the Aston Martin and my fetish for the Walther WA-2000. Flame away! t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. C'mon. Dream with me here... look at that! It's like a form of homo erectus avian evolution. Hard to beleive that the bipedal birdlike ones are even the same species as the bellybutton peek.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. I started toggle hooks at 50 jumps. No one did riser turns then. It was 1985, aproaching the end of the last centuary. I broke my femur very badly at about 150 jumps after being caught in the corner on a toggle turn. At about 600 jumps, I resumed toggle spanking - and continued with great sucess until about 2 years back or +- 3700 total jumps, largely because a) I could do them safely and b) My canopy did not respond well to riser input. (Jonathan 120 loaded to +- 1.65) For the past 2 years I've been doing riser turns after online input from SkymonkeyOne and Hookitt and the purchase/aquisition of more riser input friendly canopies (Crossfire 109, Stilleto 107, Safire 119, Safire 135, Pilot 132) and have completed about 800 such swoops to date, mainly on the Stilleto and the Safire 119, which with the sizing issue is about a 110. While the initial learning curve of changing to front risers certainly exposed me to more risk than my habitual toggle turns, the newer learned technique has resulted in better performance landings - certainly enough to satisfy my own requirements to meet self imposed milestones on my endless learning curve. t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. Can you imagine how those women would perform in a Birdman suit? I think I need to eat less... t It's the year of the Pig.
