  1. Ahh.. I met him at Perris in 1992. He had this "roll out the door and catch me if you can!" thing going which was great fun. Since I'm D 515 (in a country with 800 something D licences) it was a kinda "us tripple digits should stick together" thing. He was cool. (Probably still is!) t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. Agreed. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. What do you think of it? t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Bear? D138? t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. Thanks. The article begins with.. "The U.S. military has launched a criminal investigation..." I fail to see why the US military should be critisised for responding correctly to this situation. I'm absolutely certain that the insurgents are not bound by the same code of conduct. I understand why they are fighting. I would also fight if some power invaded and controlled my country - whatever the reason. I understand why some individuals in the US forces are seen to over-react in some situations - because those taking the pictures simply will never have a wide angle lens wide enough to truely show those situations. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. No doubt there. I don't watch TV much. Web and biased (against the US) newspapers only... t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. I'm feeling the same way you are. I'm sure everyone is doing their level best, on both sides. I vasilate between anger over incidents like this - and absolute horror at what the insurgents are doing on a daily basis. Mostly I'm just sad when I think about it at all. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Tuna anyone?

    Well.... Now you know!
  9. I live in Africa. Recalculate to include shipping, 800 dives every 2 years (Extra batterey costs) and subtract having the use of the cypres for 6 months. (3 months per service) t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. While I have huge respect for both Jeff and Luigi and what they have both acheived in their respective fields, I'm reminded of a quote by Henry Ford. "You cannot build a reputation on what you are going to do." How long have we been reading hype on people who are going to break Col Kittinger's (sp?) record? I see plenty of crit on what he did (not real freefall, use of drouge, etc) I don't see anyone duplicating it, or bettering it in the last 43 years or so. Plenty people talking. No people doing. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Tuna anyone?

True, but I have no problem with that. I can hear the "But they're mammals, like us!" cry in the distance, but then so are other yummy things to eat, like cows, lamb, rabbits, etc. t It's the year of the Pig.
  12. I'm going Neptune mainly because the Pro Track won't do over 119 seconds... which sucks for Birdman. t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. Which when you look at the Cypres calculator cost of an 8 year old due for a check, makes it cheaper to buy a new Cypres than cost per year for the remaining 4 years vs cost of new for remaining 12 years. 8 year old - due for check - are ecconomic throw aways... t It's the year of the Pig.

    Tuna anyone?

True, if you put the eyeballs, intestines etc in. Less if you use only the "meaty" bits... t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. Mmm.. images-3.jpg is kinda cute.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Tall? At under 6 ft? In Japan, maybe. Light? At 160lbs? I think of myself as medium/medium... t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. I wasn't flying, and it was a GPS spot over complete cloud cover, a thin layer from 8 - 10 grand, so I had no hand in spotting. t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Ahh. I understand. t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. I included EVERYONE! t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. Uppers - No limit. I have exited in over 100kts. Our DZ is in the clear. Ground winds - 15 kts. Anything beyond that takes the fun out of a swoop and creates variables which are potentially beyond my capability or the capability of my canopy. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. As far as I can tell there are 5 classes of human airframe. From best to worst, in my opinion.. 1. Tall and light 2. Small and light 3. Medium and medium 4. Tall and heavy 5. Short and heavy No surprises here... t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Obviously there is a lot of coloquial slang in your post which makes it near impossible for me to understand. Care to translate? t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. I'm with you there. I took my daughter for her 1st Tandem when she was 8. She'd grown up on the DZ and had been keen for years. The date my ex and I decieded on was 7, but she was quite tiny so we waited another year for her to fit the harness a bit better. We have no minimum or maximum age limit here. Depends on the situation. I have taken lukemia kids through the "Reach for a dream" foundation. Bottom line is - they're never going to make it to the age when they can sign a waiver. t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. Don't think they were being made in 1986. Must've come out in 89 -90. Vector 2 knock-off. I had one for many years and it served me well. I don't think it's good for freeflying though, what with downward facing pin covers and possibly worn velcro riser covers. t It's the year of the Pig.
  25. The variables in this are massive. I destroyed the centre section of my femur. I had a plate running down the side, and 14 screws keeping all the bits together. It looked like a garden rake in my leg on X-Ray. I was.. (Stupidly) Jumping in 6 weeks Walking in 4 months Running (slowly and painfully) in 5 months I had the plate and screws out after a year and needed to wait 6 weeks after that op for the new bone density to increase. Full recovery? That was 17 years ago - and I have some very minor left knee issues that surface only under fairly arduous conditions. (Like 5 days hiking to summit Kilimanjaro) My advice is take your time now - and heal properly. The risk I placed myself at back then was completely unnesesary. t It's the year of the Pig.
