  1. Yeah... And I BASE'd an antenae with a 120 ZP eliptical, but it doesn't make it the right choice. t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. 7 ft is too short for someone of your build, in my opinion, but 30 inches sounds OK to lift the main. If the corner mod is not retrofittable, then I, and most of the wingsuit pilots I know have done the impossible. It's simply unpicking the stitching down to the bar tack.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. So.. How long is your bridle? How big is your PC? The Safire 2 works well for wingsuit. I use a Safire 1, but my SO uses a Safire 2. Change the way you pack to "grommet-to-pin" as opposed to grommet to the bottom. Explore the corner mod. You say "Obviously I can't do much about my rig's corners.." Why is this obvious? Judging by your gear, you're a big guy and will be pulling a monster burble. I think get all the help you can. t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. I'll need to sell quite a few more suits for a free ride! 5. Everything looks like shit when you've played 1200 x 1600 resolutions on full detail at 100 frames per second... I like PC's. PC's only for gaming. Breathed on, with loads and loads or RAM, and dual core processing, and an overclocked GPU. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. No, it's just a coincidence that the day you ordered your suits I'm looking for tickets. I promise. All the money I make from skydiving goes directly to my Jackson Pollock art collection! (Now I just need to figure out why I have no art and I'm good to go!) Seriously, you guys did great out of the PAC. You've both come a long way since FlocKZN earlier this year, and will be rocking by the time your suits arrive. t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Jeez! These customers... demands, demands! I'm looking at ticket prices online now. I have a few other trips to do between now and then, but I'll find a way to be there. t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. From post no 5... "these jumps were REAL student jumps, something like last AFF levels... '[/I] It's the year of the Pig.
  9. Well, a couple of things spring to mind. 1. What were their last dives like? 2. I see no decisive plan from the I to intercept and stabalise the student. (and in the 1st one, I think the 3 connections and no lock was pretty sad.) 3. It seems the student has only been told to arch, and not the "pull one arm in and roll out of bed" recovery from the stable on back position. Students CAN help themselves when given the skills. It appears to be pretty crappy work all round, but there are some students that have more tricks than any instructor ever will. The video never tells the whole story. (By the way, the roll on the second student at 1m41 sec looks staged. Were these eval dives?) t It's the year of the Pig.

    So...

Thanks. t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Sigh.. I see no benefit. This is not a broom and dustpan vs vacuum cleaner comparison. I can already tie my shoelaces. I don't need a machine to tie them for me, or some other aid. I can do it. I can pack too. There is no name for my pack job, and no one else I've ever seen packs the way I do. It's a kind of "teach yourself and see" method I developed in the mid 80's, and it's worked on everything since then with no flaking, quartering, rolling or anything else. I'm happy you like the way you pack. I like the way I pack too. Now leave me alone. Please. t It's the year of the Pig.

    So...

Did the Dems get the Senate too? t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. Well that says nothing, does it? How does someone go from "I'll slash them cold, I'll kill them dead.." to "tremble like a flower.." in 9 years? I don't get it. David Bowie died in the 70's, and someone cloned him, or did a frankenstien or something. They're simply not the same man. t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. Since I have no difficulty getting a canopy in the bag, I see no benefit. I think if you can't pack, then you should learn to pack. To me, getting the canopy in the bag is part of packing. t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. It sounds cool when you tell whuffo's that you psycho pack. Apart from that, I see no benefit. t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. I wouldn't. I have very, very few photographs of me in freefall. Maybe 10, in 21 years. I'm not here for the pictures. Adding a camera to my Tandem fly-bys would add too many variables for me to be comfortable with my current skillset. Maybe when I'm more experienced I'll reconsider. t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. As a former TM with 750 tandems, and a current wingsuit instructor, I beleive that wingsuit flyby's are perfectly safe as long as: a) The TM is in agreement. b) The increased risk is explained to the passenger. c) The wingsuit pilot is known to and trusted by the TM. d) The approach is planned and executed as planned. e) The entire wingsuit flight is set up for the flyby. Looking at the picture it looks like the wingsuit pilot has approached from the rear. If that's the case, it's not how I buzz Tandems. My approach is always across the nose of the canopy, from left to right (in the case of a left door exit) or right to left (in the case of a right door exit) and agreed with the TM prior to exit. The Tandem canopy cannot suddenly accelerate forward when on full drive. A sudden left or right turn by the TM will not present an uncontrolled variable and if executed is an indication to the wingsuit pilot by the TM that the flyby should be aborted. As a wingsuit instructor/pilot I have a good idea of my level of skill. Close enough to thrill the tandem pax for me is about 100ft. I don't ever go much closer than that. I voted yes on all 3. t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Shhhh They're s-l-e-e-p-i-n-g... t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. Is this aimed specifically at .50 BMG, or would black powder replicas in .50 also be included? t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. A few years back, eh? I'll have you know that when I stand with an 18 year old AFF student, they can't tell the difference between you and me. We both just fall into the "old" category! Thanks to all for the congratulations, and to T for hiring the car, driving me around (on the other side of the road) and sharing the dive with me. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. It's just a jump to the left... It's the year of the Pig.
  22. I did a "chase the Base" kinda dive with him and a bunch of others at Perris in 1992. I was new at the DZ, nervous as hell and I was about to start the AFFCC with Don Yahrling, and a long way from home in South Africa. He made me feel at home with the "We tripple digit D's gotta stick together" comment. (I'm D515 in South Africa) This sport is losing a chunk of history each time someone of this stature passes. BSBD Bear. t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. Guns in Speakers corner please. Fkin amatures. Any pro will tell you that the head is a fleeting and hard target regardless of range. 1st shot to the body. What happens after that depends on the situation. Seriously, I don't understand how so many people here just "get hijacked." How do these criminals get right up to your car, or into your house without you noticing? Are you messing with your cell phone, adjusting the radio, staring into your lap? What? I've only been in one gunfight here. I won 2 nil. Maybe I'll be hijacked on the way home from work today. If it happens and I have that big surprised "WTF?" expresion on my face, and live, I'll let you know. Predators pick on the old, the sick, the weak and the unaware. We are all predators. Even the vegitarians among us can kill without effort. We are the most dangerous species this planet has ever known. Hunting each other is dangerous work for both sides, but not as dangerous as being the prey in the middle. t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. Will do! Enjoy your weekend in the Dragons mountains! Sorry we never got a chance to climb. I'll see you on the other side when I get back! t It's the year of the Pig.
