Considering you work for PD... that was a damn fine post! Makes me feel good when gear manufacturers don't run down their competition. You get no taller cutting others off at the knees, eh? (But I am a PD snob..) t It's the year of the Pig.

You will love the Safire. Openings are WAY better than the Sabre, which has been known to hammer, and steering is smooth with a full toggle stroke and a full and powerful flare. How many jumps total, what are your landings like, and is your DZ hot or high? t It's the year of the Pig.

We're not sounding similar to whuffo's. We are people familiar with the concept of putting our lives on the line for a feeling of belonging and self worth. We have seen death seconds after smiling, meaningful eye contact, and we know what "The End" means. "See you tomorrow" are words fraught with doubt for me. Stupid question time: CReW canopy as all-around, just-off-student main?

You don't want a hard core CReW rig as a main. Reasons why not. 1. Packing without a bag sucks. 2. The canopy will survive a terminal opening fine.. but you won't. 3. They're trimmed nose down for stability in wake turbulence, and this makes them hard to land. 4. They pack bulky because of the reinforcing on the nose etc. 5 Their glide angle is poor - even for a 7 cell - so out landing posibilities increase. Reasons why. 1. If you ever have a canopy collision - you're gonna be smiling! t It's the year of the Pig. -
Congratulations. My tips (a little late) Sit sideways. Stop the engine (or don't put your hand through the prop - we lost bits of a jumper that way a couple of years back) Make sure you're clear of wires, arch hard - as you'll be very sub terminal for a while. Very similat in feel to a helicopter dive. t It's the year of the Pig.

At least 100 a year for 10 years, never skipping a single calender month. I'd think they were uncurrent - but regular.

Well... I disagree. I have packed for myself over 1500 times. That's enough. Someone else can do it - and if they can't - I can get it done in about 5 min. We don't expect CEO's to service their own cars. Lets do what keeps us in the air - and provide income for others to enter the sport. t It's the year of the Pig.

Welcome back! I'm in Africa - and we've never met - but I'm a former CReW dog and have jumped at Perris... and that was all the bond I needed to identify with you. (That and also having smashed myself - but not nearly as well as you!) You're a tough one! Long road to recovery - and it looks like you're going to have plenty of people to help you out along that road.
