I think the issue here is that the batteries were flat. What if the batteries were 9.5 years old and it was a hot day? Would that be a tempreture issue? A flat battery is a flat battery. Cypres batteries should be replaced every 2 years or 500 dives, as per recomendations. (But you already know this) t It's the year of the Pig.

The North Pole is at sea level. The south pole is 6000ft ASL. Climb to 14 000 AGL over both. Do the Math. t It's the year of the Pig.

Exes are exes for a reason. Every relationship starts with a clean slate, and then the two of you build and destroy from there on. If the relationship ended - it ended for a reason. What's changed? You know why you're not sure - and there's your reason to find someone new. The world is full of people who have not lied to you. Go find one. t It's the year of the Pig.

Whether male or female, I think we've all seen that look.

I think so. As a non helmet user I looked at many designs and manufacturers and settled on a mindwarp as my 1st helmet at 3800 dives. I'm very happy with it, although I havn't hit it against anything yet. t It's the year of the Pig.

When are you a turkey, lowtimer etc?

In our system, You are a student until you get your A licence. You are an intermediate until you get your B. Your C is kinda like purgatory, and when you get your D, you're senior. In my view. We are all beginers. Always. I do (or have done at least 500) 4 way, CReW, Camera, AFF, Tandem. I've done big demo's. I've done some base. I'm learning Birdman and freeflying. I swoop. I learn things from people with less than 10% of the numbers I have. 1000 dives is an indication of commitment. Most people won't last ten years. In the words of one of my mentors, who still skydives and continues to extend his skills in all disiplines - "I've seen them come, and I've seen them go." I'm a novice, a beginner, a turkey. Some people think I'm not. I'm OK with that. t It's the year of the Pig. -

Your chances of smashing yourself are excellent, and your chances of dying while skydiving are really good compared to just about everything including open warfare when compared to duration of exposure. I've broken an ankle on jump 10, and smashed a femur on jump 159. the last 3791 have been largely uneventful. t It's the year of the Pig.

I lie all the time. If some dude I hardly know says, "Hey, where have you been?" I'll never tell the truth. He has no right. At this point I can say, "Fu(k you! You're fu(king intrusive and it has NOTHING to do with you! Non of my actions in the last hour relate to you so shut the fu(k up." or "I took my trousers to the cleaners." when I really did no such thing. When people are your friends, or have the right to know - like your employer during working hours - I'd probably tell the truth. There are very real reasons why people lie, and every single one of you do it every day. See Jim Carey in "Liar, liar"? What do you think of my hair? Would you like to have dinner with Bill and Anne tonight? Does this dress make me look fat? etc. Lying takes many forms. Wearing make-up, doing your hair, wearing heels, a push-up bra, a toupe. "Your" car on lease. "Your" mortgaged house. Lies. Every one. Representing yourself as someone you are not. That's why most people are self consious when naked in good light. That's the truth. That's who you are. Why the shame? I take plenty of flack from people on this forum for being "abrasive." What that is, is honesty. Flame away. t It's the year of the Pig.

And you found this out now? So it's OK to chew on the cow's ass, but not her hoof? Aggie got it in one. Tastes good - eat it. t It's the year of the Pig.

Ever jumped in a foreign country ??
Tonto replied to lazyfrog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't like France. The jumps could be free and they'd still suck. I won't go further - but I've travelled a lot - and the french have "a special something" that I don't want. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Yeah... but that's cos you're not allowed guns.. Seriously, I think the rest of the world is quite happy with some senior skydivers choosing to go without headgear if they choose. The BPA have their reasons why they know better than the rest of the world, I guess. Rigs are mandatory in SA. t It's the year of the Pig.

I'm old dude. So old I'm not allowed to advise the youth on matters regarding bird and bee wing loading, and need to eat worms through a straw... But I know how to have fun! t It's the year of the Pig.

Correct. It was South Pole, hence the Hypoxia issue. Cypress works when cold. t It's the year of the Pig.

PD 126R is 1st class kit. I've seen only 2 used, one moderatly loaded, the other very highly loaded. Both landings were perfect. Remember, as with most things, it's the pilot that makes a canopy look good. (or bad) t It's the year of the Pig.

Collisions are avoided with the eyeballs, not the toggles. Most collisions happen with both pilots hands in the toggles. Once you have a few more dives, you'll realise the order is always changing. If you end up with a "seek and destroy" opening, you'll be on the toggles 1st. On a deep spot, the brakes may stay stowed for longer (but not lower than your hard deck) etc. t It's the year of the Pig.
