  2. A woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected a half-gallon of 2% milk, a carton of eggs, a quart of orange juice, a head of romaine lettuce, a 2 lb. can of coffee, and a 1 lb. package of bacon. As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind her watching as she placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up her purchases, the drunk calmly stated, "You must be single." The woman was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since she was indeed single. She looked at her six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about her selections that could have tipped off the drunk to her marital status. Curiosity getting the better of her, she said, "Well, you know what, you're absolutely correct. But how on earth did you know that?" The drunk replied, "Cause you're ugly" That is good stuff Scott C. 3. Somebody had mentioned the painting thing. "Blahr" seemed to go through this adventure awhile back and posted some cool pics of a pre and post painting job. Gave some info as well. Might help ya there AggieD...... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=859814 Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  4. I second that! I have had mine for 7 or so months. They are top Notch People. I got a custom face as well and have the stainless version. Best altimeter I have owned. The smoothness of the workings is outstanding and it is very accurate. I cant recomend them enough! David has a great company!! You should check it out if your looking for a altimeter. He had a smoking deal going for new jumpers (something like 90 days from getting off student status), stock evolutiuon I or II altimeter for $115 or something like that..... Brand new with the lifetime warranty. that is giving back a little in my eyes... I should take a pic of my alti and toss it up!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  5. now your just stirring the pot.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  6. Is one of the nicer people, but has opinions Stop stirring the pot damnit!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. That's okay, there are a lot of us losers hanging around. You're not alone. I feel better now Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  8. The other thing in addition are the summers. When the weather is nice, it is unparalleld. Highs from the mid 70's to the mid 80's and low humidity. Not like some other places around the country where it is like living in a sauna, or in a desert or in a smog basin (did I hit the right areas???) Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  9. Hell, I did not even make this list. I am a looser Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. That is it??!?!?!??! I'm NOT listed, when I am at Elsinore is a few weeks I will not be looking for you then either Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  11. If your sending the rig to the manufacturer send the reserve PC and Freebag as well. I am sure you asked them to inspec the rig so you might as well let them inspect the whole rig set up. Dont fret about the reserve links. It is easy to hook it back up during the inspection the rigger will do. It really should not make him mad. May add a few minutes to the job but oh well. You shoudl look at the reserve yourself while it is out. Also this is a good excuse to get soft reserve links, less bulk and you dont have to feel links in your backpad if the reserve is a tight fit. 12. When I was in Utah last summer I made a belly jump with the one Wingnut was talking about. it was fun. I m not the expert and this description comes from about 5 min looking at the ball. The ball on the ground has a rubberband around it since it is not "locked" and the shot would fall out since it would open. Inside there is a bladder that you equalize the pressure to the ground pressure and it has a locking pin attached.. The ball is two 1/2's hinged on one side. When closed the pin that is attached to the bladder locks the ball shut as the elevation goes higher. Basically the bladder expands and pushes the pin to lock the two halves as a ball. The idea is really simple, but very cool. If you dont catch the ball as you fall the bladder shrinks as air pressure increases durring the decent and pulls the pin below a calibrated altitude. Ball opens up, shot spreads out and is harmless, ball flutters down to a safe landing somewhere. If you catch it, open up above the release altitude and put it in a bag or put a rubberband on it to not lose the shot. The pin is going to unlock below a certian altitude. Hope that description helps Wally.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  13. I think you owe Doug and ChicagoLand at minimum an apology. The mistake was not theirs at all. By choosing to make this public in the forums you have done a disservice to their business. That is what you owe them an apology for. They made this situation right in your eyes with the refund, which they did not have to do. The truth of the matter though is that they were not neglegent in their actions nor did they do something that endangered people, either of which arguably may be grounds for going public. Over this issue though, it seems to be just petty and spitefull by you. You easily could have sold the certificate and gotten all the money back. Instead you chose to go after them to make a point.... I do not agree with your choice at going public on this issue and dont think that you now saying that they are good guys and did the right thing makes up for the name calling and bad mouthing of the DZ you handed out. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  14. I agree Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  15. I have been watching the thread kinda shaking my head the whole time. I can see both sides to the story but would you have been better off just selling the cert??? There were people that offered and you would not have to take the 10% hit. Instead, It seems that the lack of the response that you thought you should have received and really wanted from the DZ staff made you dig in. You wanted to get something back from them even though you could have probably come out completely flush by selling it... It seems this did not need to get this big, thread wise, and probably could have been done slightly differently but hey, I am glad your happy with the outcome and it is resolved.. Scott C. 16. You have used an invalid link (URL). Please check to make sure you entered it correctly. Somethins wrong, cant link....... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. That is often the case But the underlying point is "what the hell is the deal there Sunny????". She must be very bored and wants to change again and again..... She just cant settle down and relax for very long. Sorta like a caged animal right now and Turttle keeps poking her with a stick for his and our amusement..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. Yeah, that would suck. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  20. I use to love it but twisted my ankle once when the toe got caught while landing and decided to wear shoes from then on. Not that a shoe offers that much more protection but after a few off landings and some jumping at a DZ with not the most forgiving of soft grassy fields to land in, shoes were an idea I liked more and more. I cant begrudge someone for the feel of a barefoot jump but I like jumping with my shoes.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  21. $1200 to Buy New (Not going to shop around here just going to go for it, cant put a price on safety right! Plus 6 Btteries at $85/per Plus 2 x 4 year checks at $250 (with total shipping) Plus average of $10 for battery change to rigger during re-pack $60 (some charge some dont we are talking averages) Equals $2270 Just a rough sketch but that broken down over 12 years is $189/year and lets say you do about 200 jumps a year then your looking at less then a dollor a jump in this thinking $0.945/jump Scott C. Forgot to add: Say you pay the $400 and you are good to go, no battery need. your at $378 for the 2 years from what we looked at above so you are just behind and got screwed on the deal BUT just has luck will have it the timing works out that you can squeek out the extra three months with +/- 3 from DOM and the price per 2 years with the extra 25% goes to $355.56 and you just saved $22.44 Life is good! You are no longer screwed and te deal is not that bad. BUT IT CAN GET BETTER!!!! Take the $50 credit at the end towards another cypress by trading it in and your down to $305.56 All totaled up, you are ahead on the remaning 2 years with $152.78/year cost vs. $189/year from new! Your a HERO!!!! "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  22. Did they at least nail the guy in front of you for the 55 in a 35. I had a reckless down in VA years ago when I was going to school at VaTech. I cant remember the town but it was good ole boy heaven and the lawyer I got for the day of the trial was the best money spent. Saved me a ton overall and I just sat there saying nada. Still sucks for ya. Is that is 6pts in VA. against your license? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  23. I think your cursed. I had a bad feeling yesterday and went on one jump at the end of the day over a Blue Skies.... I had to do a bunch of "GRW" yesterday and did not get out to the DZ until about 4pm. Anyway, went up with that little feeling still going, jumped, fun zoo load with two new A-license holders. Still had the feeling so pitched a bit higher and felt the bag come off my back twisting, first thing out of my mouth before the canopy was out of the bag all the way was "SHIT, I THINK THIS IS ACME's FAULT!! WHY ME, WHHHHYYY ME!!!!" The long and short of it is that I had a bunch of twists. I was luckey that my SAM was flying straight so I had some time to kick and kick and kick. Took a long time and some panting and watching my alti to get out but finally did kick out few hundres feet above my decision altitude. Your damn curse crossed over the sound no doubt about it, but at least it was diluted some and I was able to overcome the evil and not have to chop.... BUT, I will be happy to try and risk the odds about jumping on Wed... Still not sure on my Schedule yet for work though.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  24. WhHOO HHOOO, 100% I'm the MASTER! I just kinda fuzzed out the word and looked at the color. I can see how it wold be tricky though read the color and just pick it, Damn that left right struggle...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
