  1. Slinks are nice and I have had one pair. But that said I have also (currently) jump different sets on my rigs. The main rig I have has a set of the "HiPer" links and I have been nothing but pleesed with them. I think Beezy Shaw was/is selling them in the classifieds for $15 a set. Now I do have PD Reserve Slinks but I think they are the only soft links that you can use for a reserve. I dont think that Aerodyne has one for reserves but if they do and this is what the rigger is talking about I would give Aerodyne a call to find out... As for Main soft links, the PD Slinks are nice but there are other options that are nice and work just fine as well. If the rigger is just saying that if its not PD Slinks its bad, he should look around at some other options and not be so negative or closed minded.... Scott C. Hero

I think we all should not look at this as an athlete that was killed. He made the decision to walk away from the money for something that he believed and I think that shows huge character. One thing that I kept comming into my head is that the other soldiers that have been killed are heros just like Pat Tillman as well even though they are not getting the press. They gave their lives just as this one has but may not have been "famous"... They all had different reasons for being in the military, and they all had made sacrafices to be there.. Yes Pat Tillmans sacrafice was a little more know given the popularity of sports and the money invloved but I personaly dont think the other soldiers that have lost their lives are getting the respect that they diserve. Hopefully the fall out of this soldiers death will be more of an understanding for all of the soldiers that have been hurt or killed and not a focused look at one individual..... Scott C. 4. Well, your right about the most common form of my consumption of H2O being in Beer. I would have to say a fair amount every day, if I like it or not! Hell it beats real life most of the time so why not...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  5. Here are the cut-in laterials on the wings. Rig also has articulation. Not sure if the pic is exactly what SB wanted but I think of the Cut In Laterials as making the rig fit around the waist like a "belt". (It is extremely comfortable. IMHO at least... Scott C. 6. If your helmet fogs up you can prop it up! That is a very viable option and there is a chance it will clear BUT the problem I have with your statment is that sometime during the process of findig an place to make the off field landing you have to take time to get the helmet back in place. Just being propped up on your head does not guarantee you can just slap it back down with one hand for landing.... How many people just slap the helmet on in the plane and it is correct?? Sometimes it requires both hands to get the helmet on and situated so you can see. You will be taking part of your attention away from fully trying to land in a strange place at some point. Even if you can slap it back down, what do you do now if you find its still fogged. Your probably much lower at this point??? Now you have to try and remove it again just before landing, not good...... Being able to land w/o a helmet is a good thing to know you can do... Does a helmet help protect the noggin, yes and in many ways.. I will not argue that point but if you think you can just pop the helmet back in place for landing you might be suprised that it is not that easy all of the time. You also can introduce a number of steps distracting you from you goal of making a successful off field landing. If I had my choice between an off field landing with a fogged lens OR a propped up or completely removed helmet, I will take my chances with the latter choice. The lower amount of distractions by not messig around with gettingg the helmet back on will let you concentrate on the landing and landing spot. If you can have a nce stand up with a helmet on you can have a nice stand up w/o a helmet.... It is a level of added safety that you gain. When your outside of hte normal jumping permameters that you normally jumpwith the lowest amount of distraction you have the better.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. Racism does not have to be from the big guy to the small guy. I see probably more racism comming from minority groups towards the preceved majority groups. What is the difference between what this article on Pershing implied and what terrorists are doing today. Not much and it seems to be affecting some of the countries involved in Iraq. This post was really intended to get some opinions out there. I figured that "Americans" would be more receptive to it and "non-Americans" would be more against it. that is the way the reality is today in the world today. When America was attacked they attacked back.... When other parts of the world have been subsquently attacked they threaten to and in some cases are pulling out. Against or for the issues regarding terrists today, you cant stop the ball rolling and have to dealk with the reality of what is going on today. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  8. You have noted in your profile the A-max 104 as your main. Are you jumping the Pilot or the A-max?? Also I jsut went to the Aerodyne site and the A-max is not listed any more. It had me wondering since it is still in the gear section of this site?? What is the current canopy libne up from Aerodyne?? Pilot Vision Solo A2 Smart Tri Thanks, Scott C. 10. I just got done throwing together some editis for my group of 5 that went to the tunnel a week ago. It was fun going over it again and getting the vids for the "flyers" together. that damn tunnel is like a sweet drug, I figured that since I dont live with easy access to the Perris or Orlando tunnel I would go again the next night and took advantage of "Meeker Monday" at Perris. Great group last week (4/12) and big props out to Christy for getting the Meeker monday thing going. Great time and looking forward to getting to do it again. If you have not donw it and are in the area, dont pass up the opportunity to give it a try, Lots O Fun!!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  12. Well I dont know where the article came from as it was sent to me via E-mail but I dont think it is known 100% either way if it is fake, the actions Pershing alledgedly took that is. According snopes.com onthe Pershing legend: Claim: General John J. Pershing effectively discouraged Muslim terrorists in the Philippines by killing them and burying their bodies with pigs. Status: Undetermined. Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2001] Good bad or ugly, just putting it out there as food for thought. I know some are in agreement for it and others are against it.. I just wanted to see peoples reactions..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Funny, the map I have shows LP in the westeren half of Montana Boat on the lake sounds about right though, hot afternoon and a cool time on the lake seem to work together. I think you have the right idea.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I be there,. Should be getting there the Friday after my B-day ... Just in time for the Fri Night party.. Planning on staying for the 2nd weekend then going to work for the next week in Montana. Go figure that there is some $ to be made over there. I always thought the State was one built for fun.... I will need to bring a tent or find a wing to crash under, Hell I can just sleep in my car if I have to...... Been a few years since I have gone and this is as good a year as any to start again!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  20. I'll play..... There are some nice looking rigs out there
  21. Wow, I found this to be the exact opposite. High front riser pressure, les surf and an ok flare. Ok meaning I didn't see any thing wrong or difficult about it. When spirlaling, the initial turn was mushy as can be... read slower, and then built up speed. I thought it was decent canopy but did not fit in the stiletto class. I guess we will agree to disagree about the class it falls in..... Maybe I had a good Batwing. Though we do agree that the initial turns are slower and then picked up to about the same as a stiletto. I did find the riser performance better. I also never had landing flare issues and it performed well for me. It is a good canopy though that never really seemed to be marketed right and with the exception of sales in the South, never really sold well. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  22. I put well over 1000 jumps on Batwings. Most on a 134 loaded at an average load of 1.75 and a good but lower number on a 116 at a little over 2.0... I liked the canopy line and always laughed at people that called it a "Splatwing" Personally I never had any problems and found its flight characteristics it was similar to a Stilleto. People that had a bad opinion of them I found 90% of the time were going off of hearsay and had never flown one. Some people had trouble landing them and therefor the canopy was "bad" and with people having not so gracefull landings it gotthe name Splatwing... Since I got good surfs and good landings under the canopy I thought it was kinda silly....... I do believe that the Batwing had better bottom end flare then a stiletto. It did dive a little more but was close unless you had the speed kit line set that pitched it down for faster flight. IMHO, I did not like the speed kit at all since it dropped out of the sky too fast and I did not think you got that much more in the surf with it. It seemed to be a little better on opening calmness compared to a stiletto. The one thing that the stilletto did faster was the initial portion of a turn, the Batwing seemed to start a bit slower in the turn and then speed up to what I found to be about the same turn rate. The Batwing was/is much nicer when in a front riser turn compared to the Stiletto.... End result is it is a nice canopy and is in the same class as the stiletto. When it came out it was a HP canopy. It is not in the same class at the highest performance canopies these days but it is still a HP canopy, no question.... I loved mine and found the different ones I jumped to be nice and had no problems... Next time you hear someone say that the Batwing should be called a "Splatwing" ask them how many jumps they have on it, I guess it will be "0" Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  24. Here are the shoes I got for the season. From Sperry Top-Sider... Got em at Costco. Sperry lists them at $79.99 and I picked them up for $28. Very comfy and great breathing with all the mesh. Kinda feels like a sandle with the breathing you get but very durable and feels solid. http://www.sperrytopsider.com/Style.asp?code=1012 Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
