  1. Ok who is going. I am heading up from Seattle on Fri morning and will be in Kamloops early afternoon! Had a great time last year and want to go have some fun again! Any word on the weather forcast, last year was hit and miss but still a great time!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  2. Josh, It was not a Batwing but a AR11-120. I did all kinds of fun stuff with my Batwings but that was not one. Actuality a AR11 spinup. Broad strokes paints it as Lower then 1000 feet toggle turn followed quickly buy a big Oh SH*T! that you probably heard from the ground. That was actually back in '96 over the lovely (cloudy) skies in Snohomish. I guess I have learned from previous wrongs. If you dont in this sport you will not still be walking!!
  3. Geno is comming to town, Hell I might need to try and get out there on Wed afternoon.... If your going to putter around do the typical things: Pike Place Market Space Needle Waterfront (goes hand in hand with the market) there is a lot of stuff to do in the Market and waterfront area. Take a ferry ride Take a tour of Safeco Field Look at the clouds Wonder if there really is a mountian that you can see from down town (every time I have relatives in town it seems that Ranier decides to hide) May see ya on Wed.... 4. When playing with any canopy, even the "slower" ones you can induce line twists by doing a hard jab down on a toggle. This happens when the sudden input gets the canopy turning but there is no momentum with you so the end result can be you not turning and a line twist. When I talk to students about this I will generally suggest that if they want to do very aggressive turns do them up high and get their motion going with a split second or two of a small input then pull the toggle down. Basically this will get your body starting to move with the turn and then when you jam a toggle down your momentum is already starting in the right direction so the chance to a line twist is greatly reduced. 5. Have a routine and do it every time. It will help eliminate any additional variables. Remember you cant trust what any of the passengers will do and taking other variables out of the equation with a patent routine for how you do things will help have you ready to react and do the right thing when something comes up Scott C. 6. Take the test.... Are you really cool or just a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I knew my answer http://www.sailinganarchy.com/general/2002/cool_test.htm Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. At least you have 5 months left on it. 2mo to 12 year +3 months. It will get you through to the later part of the year.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  9. I was watching MSNBC and they were interviewing "Scott Zackey"??? or something like that about his being tossed off an airplane since he was wearing a T-shirt that offended the Pilot. Has anybody heard about this. I searched the common news sites and came up with nothing. I would like some more info. They showed the T-shirt briefly and I missed it so I want to get some more info on this........ Seems kind bad if you can get tossed for a t-shirt. That may be a step too far in the name of security and pilot discretion.. As a side the interviewer asked what his political affiliation was and I was suprised when he said republican. Also he mentioned Southwest but I am not sure if that was the airline it happened on. Thanks, Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. Come on now Sarah, still venting!!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  11. I should clarify I guess for you. I dont have one but like the features that the unit is advertised to have. I have held one and looked at tit. Played with it and read the manual and the unit is an impressive little package. The static problem is one I think will/can be solved, and I can wait till it is. I currently have a Cypress but I also have made well over 1000 jumps w/o an AAD. I am not a "I wont jump w/o one" type, but if given the choice to jump an aad I will and do. I still think that AAD as a company has not tried to hide anything and not unlike many new things there are problems that will come up after beta testing... Are you seriously telling me that Cypress units had no problems when they first came out, come on.. Lets see, after the fact, airtec introduced the checks and lifetime limitations, for two reasons, safety and to cover libality. What about the foil wrapper that you have to have since there was the threat of misfire with lack of sheilding on the cypress. What about the display problems that Cypress 2's are currently having. Based on your statments regarding the vigil you must be holding off on getting a Cypress 2 as you dont want to beta test them as well.... I dont think holding off on the Vigil is a bad thing but I also wont dismiss them as they seem to have some good features to compete in the market. I dont think it will be another Astra. There has been a problem after Beta tests and AAD as a company seems to not to have held back on information. I dont care about glitches in the beta testing since that is what the beta tests are for. So I dont want a fire into my main nor do I want a ground misfire but I dont think I am ready to dismiss the Vigil right now. The company has not been against doing the right thing and as long as they are continuning this path I will consider them for my next AAD provided the glitches are worked out.... Scott C. 13. I know that they said a replacement rate of about 25/week with the "B" versions. Has there been any reports of problems with the new circut board that is in the "B" version. All of the problems that have been stated have either been "A" version (seems like this had "static" fires) or in the Beta testing which is what you would hope for in the testing phase (trying to get bugs out) I like the features that the units have and have not been too upset about the problems that have come up. AAD as a company seems to be pretty willing to get info out and do the right thing regarding fixing it. Beta tests will only show so much (happened with all AADs newley released to some extent) and try as you might in testing you probably cant re-create all of the "in field" issues that may come up. Anyway whats the word on the "B" version..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

    Mayonnaise

Did you know???? Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico.... But as we know....the great ship did not make it to New York....The ship hit an iceberg and sank....and the cargo was forever lost.... The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery....were disconsolate at the loss.... Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning which they still observe to this day.... The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th....and is known....of course.... as Sinko de Mayo... "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. I had a new Sabre2 135 while I was waiting for my Samurai to be done and I put close to 100 jumps on it. I was loading it at almost 1.7 and I did not have a problem with the end cells on opening. It opened soft and mostly on heading each time! The lighter load may be the root cause of that but a quick tug on the rears should help speed up the openings (if you want) and also pop out the end cells. The Sabre2 is a very nice canopy. It turns at a good rate and if you load it higher it swoops very well.. You should be able to get lots of jumps and of course LOTS of fun out of it, especially since it is now like a new canopy!! Talking about End cell closure. My GQ Security UNIT 1 (~200sqft 7-cell) had this problem on EVERY jump. Both end cells were closed until I pumped them open.... Just became part of opening sequence.... "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I did not know that there was another Reserve Soft Link Choice, TSO'ed as a component that can be put together mix and match (container and reserve). I knew/guessed it was comming but had not heard or honestly searched out if there were options available but now I know..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
