  1. If the note of 150 or so jumps is correct stay with the 135. Really might be snapper then you think as you start to discover how to fly it more and more. I'll put it this way, going smaller is going to do you NO GOOD. Might be Faster but not really better. I would not go any smaller for a good number of jumps. You should be able to have plenty of fun with the 135, keep some what a margin of safety, but please note that a slightly tapered canopy at the noted load will also bite if your not carefull. Concentrate on Freefall and canopy controll. You will be suprised at waht you can do with that canoppy at that load for the next couple hundred jumps...... Scott C. Forgot to add you really have no business at the jump number noted under a canopy loaded at close to 1.5... Just my opinion, take it as that. talk to you instructors and I would guess that they will suggest you not go any smaller right now "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  2. I am following! Lots going on today, Bruce was one of the first Full Time caddies and was considered to be the standard of what a caddie is today. ALS is a very bad disease and I can only hope this will help fund more research... As for Arnold, #50 is awesome, no where close to competitive but still a peice of golfing history.... What might be even more amazing is the performance the Jack put in, might even make the weekend! That would be awesome to see!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  3. Out a little earlier this year I guess, oh well just have to jump more 8-way this year I guess
  4. OK, I posted this in General (moved to Events) a few days ago and found a couple of people. Thought I would toss it out to the Bonfire: Who is going to be at Elsinore this weekend?? I am getting there on Sun and will be there doing 8-way stuff through wed but want meet some more commers. Doing some fun jumps on Sun then starting to do 8-way stuff mon-wed... Who is going to be there?? Sounds like some are going to be over at Perris on Sat and Sun.. I have heard from: Shark Skyhi VanillaSkyGirl Nightingale Orchid Scott C. Forgot to ask if anybody else here is doing "Meeker Monday" next Monday. I am doing it and was curious if anybody else was comming to play?? "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  5. much luck "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  6. There has been some talk in the Swooping forum regarding airlocks and the RAGE canopy. Fandango (I think) put up this comparason between the traditional canopy, airlock canopy and RAGE canopy. It is bias towards a RAGE for airflow issues, shown in the drawings. It gives a good side shot sketch of the three types. Hope it is of some help. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. Dave, Deb and Alan were down last weekend for 4-way. I am going down for my 8-way stuff this weekend through wed. They are going to be running the "Dive O Day" at Snohomish this sat.. Finally a big plane and forcast good weather and I am missing it. I have a good excuse though and hopefully a sunnny place to be, but they are going to be "at home" this weekend. You haeding over to Blue Skies on Sunday, I heard that some of the others are going to make the trip? Might be out this afternoon after work to geet a jump in up at Snohomish today. Scott C. 8. OK, There was some talk about who was going to be at elsinore in the now extinct talk Back. I am getting there Sunday mid day. Just curious who will be there..... I know some of the "local" commers will but curious who else is planning on being there. Also I am curious if anybody else here is doing meeker monday this upcomming monday. I am signed up and ready to fly but curious who esle will be there. I will be doing mostly 8 way Mon-Wed but want to get soe fun jumps in on Sunday afternoon before I escape for the tunnel Sun night...
  9. LIGHT COATS!! I have done this to all of my rigs over the years and have had nothing but great luck..... Now my rig has tye dye and it turned out fantastic... I'm not saying he did it wrong but in my experience you have to do a couple of light coats and it is good to do the drying in a well ventalated room for many hours. I will do a coat, let it go overnight then do another coat. Sorry to hear he is not happy..... Have him post some pics.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  18. I thought about my above post and wanted to clarify about my spare set. I would jump them with out hesistation if I had to for some reason. That is the reason I kept them. I am comfortable with them in the sense that I have thought through my EP's and possible differences that the risers can generate.... This was a lot of thinking about it AFTER the problem I had that I noted above.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  19. As much discussion that the "Integrity" or "reverse" risers seems to create the one key thing to remember is that if you use them you will not notice a difference in their use during normal jumping BUT there are some situations that need thought regarding your EP's. One example of a difference you need to think about is created by a reduced angle between the rings on the "reversed risers" and the reserve riser. This can restrict the "open" space needed to allow the "reversed" 3-ring system to unfold releasing the main. This is where the talk of incompatability comes into play. RI Flexon for example, of which I have owned 3 and jumped for may years, had the option for reversed risers, which I also had for a number of years (not any more and the story below will tell why). The location of the rings on the MLW with all of my Flexon's was much "higher" on the shoulder, i.e. more at the top of the shoulder compared to Jav, vec, or really any other rig. This gave a good deal more of the "Open" space for the reversed risers release when needed from a open malfunctioning main... There are a number of ways to have a problem happen regarding the cutaway with reversed risers though. Some have been mentioned including the mechanical advantage issue for the cutaway. You can run into a problem if the reserve is deploying while under an open main or ball o crap non-cutaway main. We all know that the opening sequence of the reserve lifts its risers off the shoulder and the reserve riser becomes progressively closer to the "reversed" main risers rings if the main is not yet cut away. Now from my own personal experience I was under my open main then realized my reserve was going out. I looked over my shoulder to see the freebag going to line stretch and my first thought was "shit" so I cut the main away before the reserve was open, thinking "quick chop fall under the reserve, canopy transfer all will be good!!"". Right???? WRONG!!!, a second later found myself looking up at a "Cut Away Main Main/Reserve Bi-Plane" with the cut away handle in my hand and cables dangling. Second thought: "WTF, this is not what I was expecting!" Luck had all ending good and that is a different story. I bring this up as something to think about regarding reversed risers… The reverse risers are out there, not so popular now but they are still around. You need to think about the differences with EP's brought about with this type of riser. Have your emergency procedures thought out regarding different situations that may be generated by the reversed risers. It is not always as simple as cut away - deploy reserve every time. If you use decide to get or continue using reversed risers great, if you don’t great, but be aware how these risers might fit into your emergency procedures and beaware of the rig you jump in regards to the manufacturers stand on these risers.... A new set of Risers is about $100 and might be something to think about if you have any issues that come up while thinkig about the different problems that can come about with reversed risers. I dont jump them any more, have a set in my gear bag but not on anything... Blue Skies, Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  20. Actually this should be here since it is a skydiving related thing...... Referencing skydiving in a national magazine would fit in this forum! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  21. In the latest Air and Space there was a big write up on Airshows. Basically the centerfold shot of the magazine, well not really a centerfold but central to the article, was a full page picture of a skydiver with the flag behind. Words were around for the magazine but I am curious who he was? Anybody know??? Just wanted to give him "Kudos" for the nice representation of skydiving and airshows! We dont get into magazines like this all the time and when it is in there it is nice to see it done well. There was also a picture of a guy with his "Skydiving daschound" Had his name noted but I can t remember, Kudos to him also..... I will go look it up again but the magazine is not in my hands right now...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  22. go to the front page and on the left side down at the bottom link on The Pub then on the right side the link is there... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
