I saw on the NSL page that Andy H. was jumping with Airspeed?? Is he out of the Army now? Was he just filling in or is he now on the team?? I did not see any new updates on the www.airspeed.org page for 2004 when I checked a while back. Just curious but that is cool for him! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I would have to say that in the background "Viva Las Vegas" was playing if only as a general theam. There was no misic that I can remember from the wedding: The short version: at about 2am in front of a Bar in Seattle after New Years eve party decided "what the hell lets get married!". Went home to pack and get a couple of ZZZ's then to the airport and got a flight to vegas (talk about last minute), next got a hotel on the strip, found a chappel in the phone book, went to the court house for a marriage license, and said I Do's at the Chappel. Then to a Steak and Lobster dinner! Totaled a whopping sub 20-hour engagment time. Continued having fun in a honeymoon mode for 3 more days. Hell even made a skydive while we were down there. Believe it or not we really did not gamble much, but I guess the whole trip was a gamble Scott C Oh Yeah, Family found out after we got back from the trip "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

It is a .avi extension and the error I get after downloadig the clip is "Quick Time is missing software required to display this movie file. Unfortunantly, it is not available on the quickTime server." Plays the sound but not the vid when this comes up. One of the ones I note this problem with is http://skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=1197 Some of the other .avi seem to work fine?? Just curious Scott C. I'm getting 350K on average. I'm having a problem with the .mpg files. My realplayer V. 10 doesn't play the files once I download them, it doesn't seem to recognize the format!!! HELP! scott I start off over 400 then it settles down into the mid 200's range. I have a problem with missin components on some of the files. The components are noted as not available on the web for down load. I think it is some of the mov extensions. Small problem but a couple of things I want to see I cant. I will try and get more info and throw it up here... Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Dave, The download speeds have been very good. I am still getting about 225 to 240KB/sec off the site pretty consistantly. Dont know if traffic is way up or if the ver2 site is still not getting hit that hard yet... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

sdctlc replied to Jessica's topic in Gear and Rigging
You can do it on line here, set up an registry acct and then you can make changes... http://registry.faa.gov/amsvcs.asp "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

Not the best pictures but they are out of a 206. Thanks to Richland SkySports in Richland Washington for letting me "borrow" the pics. Somebody I am sure has better shots... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Noting specific feature differences is fine, I said that before. Noting your manufacturing thinking for construction and design is fine. Noting that you have X # of flaps and they dont is fine or secondary riser covers fine again, I dont have a problem with noting any of that. The problem, and the reason this became what it did, is the inference that yours is 100% while others, specifically Wings are not. You may not have meant that but that is what it looked like and that is what many people took it as. I think a Mirage is an outstanding rig that can stand on its merits, I also think there are other fine rigs out there that cost less. The Mirage seems to be accepted as a spendy rig and you even agree to that fact. Of course cost is based on production costs, but saying "we" spend more then "they" do so ours is 100% all the time. Theirs may be good most of the time but why take the chance. That to me is just like saying "ours is good and they have one that is bad"... I had to shake my head again on your latest response becuse you did it again while trying to dig out from the first post. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

The problem with that thinking is that sometimes more is not good, bigger is not better and just becuse someone can talk sh*t about the other guy he is not always best.... Anybody can paint a picture based on their view by slamming the other guy. If everybody goes about it in that avenue then the true virtues of the product are lost and it becomes a "who can slam the other guy the best" coontest. We are getting off topic here from the vein that has been going on. If you want to have a contest like that then more power to you. If you think that that it is a true evaluation on a product, that is your opinion. it is not my view and in my opinion it is a very poor way to go about an evualation. As I stated before you can put a number of the points into a good comparison sheet and make your point and belief in "your product" without slamming the other guy. I dont think it shows a belief in your product if you feel you need to slam the other guy to "win". Again it is my opinion and I stand by it. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Did you mean Vectran outboards? Derek On my Sam I was curious since it arrived last year with all spectra for suspension lines and vectran on only the break lines. I called Brian about it and asked. Basically with the known shrinkage of the other suspension lines compared to outboard vectran lines keeping all the suspension lines as spectra kept it in trim for longer..... That is my understanding and I guess it is standard now.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

From RWS site: V328M Main: Batwing 134, Falcon 150, Monarch 135, PD 150, Sabre 135, Silhouette 135, Spectre 135, Stiletto 135 Reserve: Micro Raven 135, Mini Cricket 130, PD 126R Take a look at attached PIA canopy chart. If you wanted to look at the reserve according to the chart the MR 135 is 308 cuin a PD126 (which many will say is about 10 sqft bigger then it is listed as but I dont want to get into a canopy measuring argument) is 296 cuin. Note though that a Tempo 150 is listed as 294 cuin. The mini cricket (Flight concepts whose products seem to pack up big) is not noted, go figure..... Probably based on that the tempo 150 would be the biggest or something in the sub 310-315 cuin range.. On the main Stiletto is listed at 327cuin, the Falcon150 at 350cuin and the Spectre 135 at 354cuin. Given that limited set you are probably looking at a sub 365-360 cuin main. Again this is based on the chart. Take alook and I hope it helps... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I agreee to the point that you are comparing feature differences or design differences. Not a backhanded or in this case a not so backhanded slam at a competitor. Knowing the reasoning or thoughts behind a rig design is great. Let the customer know what the manufacturer is thinking and they can make an informed decision. Maybe the manufacturer has a reason for the design they have but to negatively sell your rig against a specific competitor is not salesmanship, good advertising or anything other then BS. A negative sales pitch, even a backhanded one which this was, is going to hurt you much more than making your case as to why your product is better based on its features. If it is better, it will stand up against the competiton not from a slam but on its merits..... Consumers in general may not be crystal clear sales-tactic wise for things sold/presented the right way which honestly can be good but you can be damn sure that it will be remembered if you take the approach noted above. Comparisons and theory are one thing, what was above was something different, at least in my eyes.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

That pretty much covers it You can probably be GQ and not over the edge. Clean cut and knowledgable does not put you into the Jacko category. I think the term is stupid anyway... What is the term for a clueless smelly un kept guy?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

WOW, I was kinda reading the post and going "did he say what I think he said??" There is no question that is how [dinog3]'s post reads no matter how much the follow up post infers "but that is not what I meant". Not only was that a slam at the wings system but you went on to specifically point out problems as you see it in your evaulation on the Wings container. I think the Mirage is a great rig and is very nice. That said I would like to believe that the statment [dinog3] made was worded inadvertantly becuse it sure sounded like a very harsh and very specific backhanded slam at the Wings system. Even if it was not meant that way, for a post that clearly shows a competitive business interest in one system over the other, that was not a cool way to word it.. Pointing out your feeling that the mirage is a better rig and that the lack of flaps and secondary riser covers I think may be valid to point out in a feature difference comparison, but to infer it will not work or that you may need to have doubt about the 100% security of a TSO'ed wings rig compared to a Mirage is VERY UN-COOL Again, did I really read what I think I did?? Scott C. edited to clean up a couple of things, content stayed the same "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

All good rigs. If this is your first and money is no problem then go ahead and buy new. I suggest that you look used though for a first rig. Look at it as the one to get you through the next year or two. You will gain a huge amount of experience in what you want and prefer and then be a a great position to get exactly what you need/want/desire and it will last you a longer time. I know a few people that bought new early only to be selling and buying again shortly afterwards (year or so) since they were able to find what the niche they wanted was, or the canopy choice changed to a smaller one, ect...... Note all the above thinking is based on a vague post about a rig. I just assumed it was a first rig. No info on your profile so you could have hundreds of jumps for all I know.... NOW if you looking from an experienced jumper POV, the ones noted are great rigs. Dont discount the Infinity as it is a great rig at a great price as well. Short lead time as well in comparison to some other manufacturers. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Elsinore and Perris are great DZ's. If your a low timer you might like the pace of Elsinore. It is not quite as "busy" as Perris. Both are outstanding DZ's though. really it will come down to what your comfortable with... It is turbin heaven though.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
