  1. When shooting a tandem video on a bright sunny day my angle is more up and I get a lot of sky. I try to position as much as possible so the sun is in the face for lots of shots but at high noon I get a darkening of the face a bit. Other times get a bit of "Halo" around them like the chip is oversaturated right at the contrat line, not that bad but I notice it and it bugs me. Is there any recomond filter to add to the video camera?? A Polarizer?? Just curious as I am just trying to get a bit more pop in colors that seem to be washed out in bright sun in addition to wanting to equalize the object coompared to the sky background. Dont see the contrast as much on a RW jump as I am shooting down with the dimmer background of the ground compared to the sky. If there is a filter that works on the top question should it also be here or should I take it off for the RW jumps vs Tandem jumps. I dont shoot a ton of vid as I am usually doing the tandem but have been doing more at the DZ out of needs to fill for the customers. Just want to give a good quality image to the editor to work with...... Thanks in advance Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  4. "Loaded Baked Potato, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm" When I am at a restraunt I always ask what they consider a loaded baked potato. Often I hear "Butter and Sour cream" WTF!!!! That is a damn near naked potato. Turtle noted the MINIMUM of what a GOOD LOADED potato should be! God Bless ya Man!! Scott C. My diet sucks now that I am thinking about baked potato variations!! 5. The Tmpo is a TSO'ed reserve, even one from 1994 As long as you are within the noted/tested limits and your rigger is not saying there is a problem with the reserve, then your probably OK and not over loading the reserve. That said I have no idea what you weigh out the door and what you like to do. The newer reserves are reinforced differently and are stronger now. This is helpfull given the huge increase in non-belly flying. The PD-R and the Smart are nice reserves as was previously noted. If your within the limits of the Tempo, your in good shape. If your over 1.0 and do a lot of headdown and freeflying you might want to consider a newer design for a reserve that is designed to meet some of the higher possible demands you flying weight and jumping stypoe might need... 9. If your looking at a Sabre you might want to consider the Sabre2. The taper makes it a great canopy to fly. You can do a whole lot more with the "2" then you can with the Sabre. Bonus is you get nicer openings and take a small bit of worry out of the equation compared to a stiletto. With the number of jumps you have posted I probably would still suggest that you stay away from eliptical just now. Most people whether they realize it or not, dont even come close to the flight potential of their current canopy. I would guess your in the same catageory considering probably 90%+ are as well. You dont need to go smaller or eliptical to get more speed or longer swoops espically if your not already flying the canopy to the MAX!! Ask your trusted people at the DZ if they think your pushing the canopy to its limits and I would guess that your not. Hell I put over 800 jumps on a Sabre 170 and learned a hell of a lot while taking some of the eliptical or small canopy risk out of the equation. It is not always going smaller or changing the planform that you need to do to learn more and get better! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. Add "sdctlc" to the list. I should be at the bar mid evening Friday the 30th and ready to jump for Sat and Sun! I will have to make it sort of a belated B-day evening for me as my B-day is the 29th!! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  14. First off, I am glad to hear your recovered/recovering. My question is as to why you would have gear fear for a plane crash. Is it just the thought of having the harness cut apart and then put back together or is it something else?? I am just curious as I have seen gear fear from people when something happens with the gear in an incident. Not saying that having it cut apart is not an incident but I am curious if that is it or if it was related to the plane crash?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  15. I jsut saw a really funny T-mobile comerical. A tandem and 2 other skydivers stuck in trees all arguing over who should call for help... Anybody seen it?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  16. O- is the universal donor blood type because it has no A, B, or Rh antigens, and, therefore, won't cause a transfusion reaction in anyone. With your O+ you can donate to anyone that has the rh antigen in their blood. A bonus is that you can receive any "O" blood since your rh + Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. Here is a picture that was taken by Dave Hoyt at Davenport WA (near Spokane) over Memorial weekend. The jump was to practice for the base group for the upcomming Srat Idaho Boogie and record attempt comming up at the end of June... Clicky I was out of town and not there but thought the Pic was OUTSTANDING!! The colors are much sharper but I had to scale it down some and it does not have the same "pop" the higher res pic does. Hope Dave gets as nice and colorfull pic of the Idaho attempt in a few weeks. I might be tempted to buy one if he does! Dave does a nice job! pics Anyway, just thought it was an outstanding pic with the colors and the angle. Thought I would share.. Scott C. edit: helps to add pic I guess "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

  20. For him or against him in political thinking it matters not at a time like this. He was one of the greatest US presidents and leaders this country has seen. I will continue to watch all of the proceedings for his memorial and funeral with a heavy heart and many memories of growing up knowing of him as President Reagan. Anybody who is an American that is not moved watching this, I have to just shake my head. If I could I would hop a flight just to walk through the rotunda in the capital and pay my respects to the man and to the office he stoood for.. God Bless and God Speed to President Reagan. Scott C.
