NO I dont think that is a very helpfull comment but more of a smear. Though there is some validity to it it is presented in a way showing no reason behind it. The question was if it was a fair trade with the Sabre2 and the answer would be yes only if the person getting the Sabre2 was also giving some cash with the Batwing. The batwing was a very good canopy and that is from my experience with well over 1000 jumps on a Batwing. The Value of Batwings today is going to be from very low to about $500 depending on condition, lines, jump numbers, ect... The canopy never really became popular and as a result does not carry much re-sale vale. That taken into account and the fact that the Sabre2 is a "New" technology canopy your not comparing apples to apples. The Sabre2 has a great resale value and a canopy for canopy with cash could be a fair trade. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

"Red Streak" makes you sound kinda like a super hero. The question might not be towards the Red streak but more if there was a "yellow streak" commin from the target as the "Red Streak" was approaching at Mach 1 ?????? Scott C. Did some one say Hybrid?? "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Both places ae fun!! I will be at Snohmish on Sat for the "Gonna Be Day" and hope the weather will cooperate. As was noted: From Microsoft Streets Renton to Harvey Field (Snohomish) Summary: 32.3 miles (43 minutes) ----OR----- Renton to Kapowsin Summary: 39.8 miles (57 minutes) About the same time depending on traffic... Both places are fun and welcome to the area Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Well let me broaden out the question.... What camera are people using for hand mounts.... I am guessing it is the miniDV size but what is the general feel for TI's doing this?? I want to try and add it to my tandems this summer and as noted above dont want to spend a ton o $ getting it going. The mount and 0.3x WA are spendy and I would obviously like it to pay for itself through the summer. Dont expect to get paid for it all the time since im not looking to replace traditional video ... OK, 911 was a traumatic event for not only the US but also the world. That said there was a good deal of pressure to support the victims famlies. I dont have a problem with support and assistance with terrorist victims famlies on US soil. But a blatent million dollor plus payment to famlies is just not right and I have never understood it. Yes it was a horific event and yes I can see support in some fashion but I would have guessed that more stories like the one noted above would have come out by now. As a side, I dont remember if the victims famlies for the people on the flights were compensated. As for murders and car accidents, I think that is why people carry life insurance for the familys future. Flat out you never know what life is going to throw at you or your family. Anther issue I have is if they want to coompensate victims famlies for "terrorist" actions on US soil I can understand that but what about the Ok-City bombing where the victims famlies were not compensated?? That was most assuradly a terrorist action. I dont get the difference??? Please dont take me wrong, I dont have a problem with compensation for the victims famlies. That said, I dont think it is appropiate for the size of the compensation to be out of wack with normal insurance policies just becuse of the magnitude of the event. I guess an issue I have is if these "terrorist" victims famlies are being taken care of and others are not why???? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
that is a funny vid..... I like how when Big J goes into the stand (2nd try) the entire formation looks like a belly 4-way on the vertical axis then itr looks like the fun begins! Daymnnn is all I have to say, when she wants to go head down fast she just "explodes" away 120 to 220 in 1.75 sec Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I am looking for a "less Expensive" miniDV camera to hand hount for Tandems. Anybody have any suggestions or have they tried a JVC or this one?? I know that Sony is the best overall camera performance wise for skydiving but I do know somepeople have tried different units. I note this one since I can pick a new one up for just under $300, way less then the Sony units. Also I think I might be needing a .3 at most for the wide angle. Has anybody tried a .45 for a hand mount or is it just not enough ?? Any feedback would be appreciated Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

WOW, Skydive Arizona is going to go away if they dont get the tunnel approved!! Of course it was approved for the permit as Eloy gets lots of $$ from skydivers and I would hate to see what it would survive on w/o it. Still, that is a bold statment to make to the board, almost like a threat.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

The X2 and the katana have great reviews from people. Dont forget about the Samurai from Big Air which also has great reviews. PD manufacturers canopies for Big Air (unless you get a signature series that Brian built) and it is in the same catageory as the two you mentioned. Personally I looked at the X2 and the Sam when I was looking (Katana was not out) and I went with the Sam. I would have been interested in trying the Katana but could not. The X2 is a nice canopy though. If you do a search on the Samurai in the forums and you will find a lot of info on it as well.... I went with the Sam over the X2 partially because I liked the airlocks. They (Sam v. X2) were close in flight characteristics and I though both were good canopies. Personally I thought the the Sam did not seem to snivel so long for opening and tended to be more on heading but I have heard other storys, just my experience. As a side, there is a rumor that the Katana and the Samurai, though trimmed differently, are very similar planforms just with one having airlocks and the other not.. Just a rumor I hear, I think it was also on DZ.com somewhere as well. Someone had laid them out side by side and they thought they were very similar. Who knows for sure. End result is that the canopies are in teh same catageory and are all good choices depending on experience and what your looking to do.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

The PD170 is a great canopy for your experience and load noted at 0.7. Wether this canopy is the one for your needs I cant say but at 700 jumps it may or may not be. Have it inspected by a rigger and get an honest evaulation on its condition. Performance of this type of canopy at your noted load of .7 load should be fine even with 700 jumps. That said, the performance will be affected by the condition of the line trim. Have the canopy checked that it is in trim. Lines can look not so good color wise but still be in trim and work great for the 100 jumps you thinking. If it is out of trim the performance will be down and get worse the more off it is. The canopy is not going to be worth a huge amount later, i.e. if you get it after your 100 or so jumps on it, so take the very low re-sale value into account... Look at the $ you will save if you can put 100 jumps on the canopy as is and see if it works out to get you ahead jump and $ wise. The canopy might be great for you but you need to be thinking about it with open eyes not only to its condition and performance but what you expect to get from it later... Scott C.
