With the F&D who is going to be there list, I am curious about the Oregon Boogie in Molalla Aug 24-26th I know Bodypilot1 was going to be there. I am going to be there and I am guessing Monkey will be there, who else is planning on going?? Ed are you rounding up some more Cali flockers? SDCTLC BodyPilot1 Monkey ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? Cool, Sounds like your getting some more in on the suit. I did 4 more Ghost jumps yesterday. A couple were solos and was getting some very good times and speeds. Better then before, one was 156 seconds, with less fatigue. Rolled the elbows more forward on Ed's suggestion and it seemed to work well, thanks Ed.... Also went with a a couple guys on 2 ways. Really I was just following them as it was VERY early in their bird experience and I went along to watch them. The suit had plenty of range for the slower forward speed and faster rate. Also you could really feel it at the bottom when kicking it into high gear. I was getting a number of low 40's on the neptune for the segment averages. Even had a 40mph average on one of the segments it showed, DMANIT, wy not just give me the 39!!! Oh well, always another day. I am feeling much better on the Ghost in terms of flight fatgue. A few tweaks, like with the elbows made a huge difference. I still was feeling a little drop in performance at the bottom after 2+ minutes of more of less maxed flying but not as bad as the first few jumps on the suit so that is improvement. Looking forward to Molalla in a couple of weeks and getting some awesome flocks! Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I do like the Ghost and think it will be one great suit after I get some more jumps on it. The Phantom I estimated at 60 jumps but I am pretty conservative when i am selling someting. I am guessing that the stated 60 jump # I noted was on the high end for that suit. Great suit and all around design. Hopefully a good price offered! As to Kris, I was really going for max time on the solos. I was pleased about the distance I was getting as well so I noted it in the above post. The times could have been and I am guessing become longer, but I noted fatigue. If I can find the sweet spot I think I can easily add to the time and slower fall rate, it will just take a few jumps to dial it in. I am finding that when learning a new suit it is best for me, IMHO, to go for time. Adjustments for speed, distance and flocks comes better from the max time jumps I find after solo practice. If I had someone else to jump with I at the DZ closest to my house, I would but sometimes that is not possible in the NW as the # of birds is not huge. Though we try and get together, we dont always get 2 ways much less flocks most times. Given that, the solos working on max time is just what I have done and it seems to work. Others might go about it differently . Anyway, back to Glen, my Phantom is up for sale. I REALLY LIKE IT BUT>>>> the GHOST is calling me to fly it. I should be pretty dialed in on it in Oregon in 3 weeks. Just need to get some more flights and maybe a small flock or. Any NW jumpers want to flock next weekend! I will be at Blue Skies tomorrow as well! Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Got 3 jumps in on the suit yesterday afternoon. First difference I noted from the Phantom is that the arm pressure is noticably higher. The 3 jumps were all from ~12K with openings at ~3K and the times were within 5 secs of each other at right around 140 seconds for all 3. Fall rate noted on the neptune at 51, 49 and 47. The trend I saw was better average times at the top but then I would get tired towards the bottom and it would go up. I found a comfy body position but then would loose it towards the bottom with some turns. Basically I found the Phantom flying style was not optimal for the Ghost, not "Plug and Play" as a fellow wingsuitter once told me about changing suits. Not have anybody to fly with on these jumps left me just guessing on the forward speed but I was covering more distance. That is based on what I had been doing on the phantom and ground referece points. I like the suit and though 3 jumps really does not give me the overall performance perspective I think it will be fun when flocking, hopefully this weekend. I see already some better performance characteristics then the phantom and if I can get the happy spot for longer dives, hopefully I wont tire so much. I was fighting the suit a bit but that got better with each jump, it just flys differently and it is a bit touchier then the phantom but not hard to fly. Scott C. OK, after traveling for work all last week, knowing my new Ghost was sitting at home waiting, I got back last night to finally get a chance to see the suit. Attached are the obligatory pics. I have a home office so I just went outside so sorry for the non in office shots Construction looks to be outstanding, as I would expect, from PF. The design of the inlets looks like it will just about do an instant inflate on exit. Shoulders seem similar to the existiong PF style but there are more leg inlets on the side of the body as well as the scoops on the leg wing front (black patches in the pic) The back inlets have a mesh covering and an airlock , pretty nifty design it looks to be, Couple of things I noted was no hip/waist snaps like on the Phantom for holding the booties up after opening. Curious why that is. Also there is no mesh inside the suit for the wings. What I mean is that looking inside the suit you see the ribs where as with my Phantom you have a mesh over the ribs in the crothc leg area and in the area under the arms but other then that, the suit looks awesome. I am hoping to sneak out to the DZ this afternoon for a few test jumps on it! I also took a few pic's of My phantom laid over the Ghost to see the wing size difference.. Anybody need an in great shape less then 1 year old Phantom?? it is in the classfieds. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

So your saying you could not keep up with them, have you gone downhill that much ??? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Well, As I sit writing this my Ghost is at my house. It was delivered today. That is the good news, Unfortunantly I am traveling out of town for work this week and wont get back till next Monday... Oh well, I waited this long I can wait a few more days. Besides that I wanted to give monkey a few jumps to get ahead of me on the new suit I will be sure to get a few pics when I get home.. Scott C. I use a HC40 with a Royal 0.3X. I am guessing the HC 20/30 or the newer HC 32/42 would also work well.... Tehy are small and light. They are on E-bay for a good price as well.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

It cant be worse then the east coast with 95-100 temps combined with 95-100 humidity most summer days. Its even Warm in the NW, saying temps to get close to 100 today and tomorrow in Seattle. Suffer on the ground for those minutes in flight! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
Wow, what was the lead time on that? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I thought about google earth after I posted, sorta like the smack in the head "Could'a had a V8" It would be cool with the grid system to just count off the distance... Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

that is pretty cool. Have any aerial shots? Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
There are a good number of instructors that only do Tandems... Just like the converse is true as well. Many times the instructor is multi rated and/but if they are doing Tandems, I am guessing this is partly due to the way the DZ has it set up. In effect they, the instructors, are doing what they are told... I would talk with the DZ and find out when they have instructors or coaches available. You are noting 40 jumps. I am guessing that you dont have an "A" license by the question. I hope that you are working on getting your A license card filled out if you dont have a license. Again depending on what you are looking to accomplish, talk to the DZ and see what/when the availability to meet those needs is. Also you are listed as being in the New York area, look at other options in terms of DZ's... If you have in the 40 jump range you should have a log book with some of the completed skills you have towards getting licensed. You should be able to move to another DZ that may give you what you want as well. I am kinda like Phree in that the question is not completely clear as some of the holes need to get filled in but the DZ usually has a good bit of say in how the staff is utalized. Scott C. No complaints from me, I saw where we were and followed the only other 2 (Locals) that decided to "wing it" the right direction. I openened up over the LZ, not away from it and rear risering it back... I was not a lemming! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

"Qualified" that is really a speculative term I am guessing. Look at the spot we got last time?? What the hell was that. And for the person that was spotting, we made it back is not the correct answer Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

It is great to know your gear better. the easiest way to get a handle on the correct configuration on lines is to hang the canopy up (nose to the ground) and you will see the attachment position on all the lines. Just like on a continutity check, the outermost lines are outermost on the link and eoch on inboard will also be next. This allows to check that the lines are not twisted as well. Hanging up a canopy is a great way to look at constructiona nd to inspect for any damage. It can be done on the ground but having The experience and knowledge of doing all of this previously with the canopy hanging does make it easier to know what your looking for and how to do it. Like anything it take time and an effort to learn about it. Hooking up the links, soft or hard is not overly difficult but I would ask your local rigger to walk through it. With hard links it is not hard to over tighten it. Rule of thumb is finger tight plus 1/4 turn. With soft it can be tricky (mind you not hard) if you have not done it previously. Search on dz.com and you will find pics of misrouted soft links and open hard links that if not dealt with could have been very bad. The more you know bout the gear you jump the safer you will be.. Good luck, Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
