Well, if you show up any time between now and when I get there, I will have to be jealous! When I get there all will then be just fine.... At least in my little world! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/d/Reviews&level_b=Camcorder&level_c=HD.htm The memory stick units like the CX7 use AVCHD compression. The link I noted talks about some of the stuff on it. I do agree that it is coming and the CX7 is listed as one of the stand outs for this style. I am looking at the HC5 as I can get a Brand spanking NEW one through B&H with the Raynox HD-5050PRO 0.5x Wide Angle both delivered for $800 ($699.95 for Camera and $89 for the WA plus shipping). I don't have an issue with the Mini-DV tapes as they are inexpensive. I don't like to early adopt too fast i guess. It seems that some changes are coming in the next couple of years and the $800 cost is not that bad for a couple of years of good use, but I have not placed the order yet It is in the shopping cart though.... I don't think "Sucks" is the correct way to look at it. Big ways are a different animal then flying around with a few buddies on an average weekend. Footloose and fancy free flying will be difficult if you want to have success and earn that success with an expected high level of safety. With anything in skydiving, some people are better then others overall. Some may be fantastic in one area but maybe not so much so in other aspects in the same discipline. My skydiving experience really says and agrees with slot specific, non hawking of slots as being something that is common in RW but foreign to WS for the most part. Trying to add that structure is going to take some of the feeling of "FREE" from people wanting or looking for that loose attitude within the WS discipline. Those who like the non-structured nature of it might have to take a hard look at themselves (their goals) and think a big way is not your bag. The free attitude or approach might be a helluva a lot of fun and work for smaller ways but it really opens a can of worms for bigger flocks. Putting someone with not enough experience on a huge flock is asking for trouble just the same as in any discipline. Itis not fair to either the person or the rest of the group so yes some level of performance expectation should be measured. Every discipline seems to go through this, think about Free Flying 10 years ago and how it was. People tired of the cliques going to it, younger jumpers finding it hard to jump with the more experienced jumpers were going to it. Whoever it was and for whatever reason, this new area offered a chance to break off and "Flop" around and say it was with some style. Expectations were loose and it was fun! Pretty soon after that with more people doing it some skills got involved, egos followed and exclusion from a free attitude happened. Some aspects were creating a safer environment which probably saved a good bit of injury. I also whole heartedly agree that it can turn nasty and lead to people getting their feelings hurt and the skygod syndrome kicking in.. Is this a transition time with the WS discipline, I would say so and along with that transition will be growing pains of some not liking some additional structure. I agree 100% that there are times in RW or Freeflying where the "Friend" factor can cause issues, hard feelings, ect... but hopefully that can be minimized to some degree if people are aware of the expectations. DO I think it can be eliminated, in a perfect world maybe, but when your dealing with egos and feelings it is bound to happen. Hell these threads cant even last more then 10 posts on average before it spirals a bit. No matter if you like it or not the structure is going to be needed with a bigger way. Just because you have a suit and fly it some does not make you qualified to join in on this specific endeavor but it also does not mean you cant learn and grow to the point where you can. This is the gray area that is really tough, transitioning from all are welcome to telling someone that they need to work on a few things before they can get up to this level. Good bad or ugly sometimes there are good reasons for the change but the trick is seeing the reasons and working towards a positive outcome. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I just searched for some FTP pictures and it looks like yu have to stagger the Video and still on the standard plate? I did not notice any wide plates. If there are any pics with cameras on it I would appreciate it as it gives me a better reference on the set up.. Thanks Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I like the space I have on my BatRak now but say I wanted to go to a new helmet and wanted to avoid side mounting video and keep both Vid and still on top, are there any good options? I don't really see anything that gives the space, aside from the custom helmets that are very cool. I did also find the Sky Systems Vapor Wes Pro which seems to havetons of space but are there any other options? Also I see options for top vid and forehead still but I like it all on top.. any thoughts?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I guess I was referring more to the statement that it was NOT available. Seems strange for a shop to claim that. All they would have to do is just open one of the catalogs they probably have behind the counter. Really, I guess I would be questioning the specific shop for what they appear to have done in the cost of the new lens compared to the value of the old I use a step down on a 30 to 25 when I use my Royal 0.3x. I would be interested in seeing what level of "ring" he might get with the 25mmn lens on the 30mm camera as I have not tried it.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I think you mean a step Up as the HC40 has a 25mm thread and the PC1000 has 30mm. http://cgi.ebay.com/25mm-30mm-25-30-Step-Up-Filter-Ring-Stepping-Adapter_W0QQitemZ300174707919QQihZ020QQcategoryZ67358QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem This is $6 delivered in the states and took about 5 minutes to find on Ebay. here is a 30 to 25mm ring as well: http://www.camerafilters.com/detail.aspx?ID=2730 Scott C. I did not look at where you are located! I guess the import thing can add up.. Good luck at the exchange and I hope you get something good! If you are worried about the durability of the 300D, 350D, or 400D, the 10D, 20D ect in the series is a tougher build but it is a little heavier.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I have a XT that I have been using for skydiving and other ground shots but I would have to say skydiving mostly.. I have taken over 15,000 shots with it and have not had any real camera problems. With skydiving I dont have it in a case or anything and on the ground I am switching lenses a fair bit. The rebel series is not as tough as the heavier brothers like the 20D but it will take a reasonable amount of abuse. I find that if your not trying to break it you will be good.. Also the used market is small that I have seen and given you can get a XT with a stock lens CF card at COSTCO on line for $499 why not get new... http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11234479&search=Canon&Sp=S&Mo=114&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&N=0&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=Canon&Ntt=Canon&No=11&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1# Canon Rebel XT 8MP 1.8" 3 Frames per Second EF-S 18-55mm Lens Bonus ATP 2GB CF Card Battery & Charger Compatible with more than 50 EF and EF-S Lenses $499.99 Item # 232105 Shipping & Handling: $14.99 Scott C "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I would hope that more then 30 jumps a year can be made. One jump about every week and a half or less then 3 jumps a month really will not be keeping yourself current at your level.. It will be very hard to gain the needed skills beyond those required for getting your initial license... I look at that level as really a basics level from which the real learning about skydiving begins! Now that that is said, LOOK USED!! You can get very nice used equipment at basically the value of a new all the bells and whistles container... At yor level youhave no idea what you want long term and shelling ut 5K is not a prudent thing. Spend 2K on a set up (maybe less depending) and spend the difference on jumps, you will be much better off Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I have always looked at used gear as a tough market for value given fit and color issues. Also on the depreciation a good rule of thumb is going to be a depriciation for "driving it off the lot" of 10% with another $1 or so per jump. $1500 (USD) canopy new purchase at 200 jumps by my calculation would be about $1100 to $1200 giving some leeway to the formula. Looking at a List price for a Sabre2 150 of $2010 you can likely find a street price of 20% off or $1608 give or take a few. Go with a 10% depreciation your down to $1447.20 before jumps. Say 130 jumps at $1/jump you now down to $1317.20. As it happens there is a Sabre2 150 with a 2007 DOM in the classfieds now saying 130 jumps at $1350 OBO so I dont think my calculation estimates are too far off... Scott C. Why would you be mad at the cable company or even the dude that found and fixed the problem. They are not the f#@k nut that put the splitter in creating your issue? If anything go and bust the balls of the jacka$$ that caused the issue.. Are you just mad it took a few days to gt to fix your issue? People do stupid things but I guess I am missing the point where the cable company created this issue causing you to get mad at them??? Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Putting that much extra surface I would imagine would have an effect. Did he every post any pictures of it? Also they look to just zip off, interesting idea but that looks like it would make a SM1 look like a small wing suit. Do you know if it was dual layer or a non inflating single layer.. Really just curious as I like seeing the ideas that people come up with then bring to the table. What is the definition of impressive? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

Who is flying what looks to be a zip on Wing extender for that Blue wing/White body S3?? You can see it in the Thurs section in the pic 9299 as well as in some previous and a few after. Looks like a shackle at the ankle?? It looks undone on rt side but attached ion left in pic 9294 The zip on extensions seem to be doubling the surface area but flying non-maxed makes it look fairly useless while creating a huge level of drag. I did not note that suit in the later pictures so it had me wondering, what is the deal Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
