  1. I go about 200-300 on the lower control lines. At that time I take a good look at the cats-eye loop for the brake settings to see if there is any wear there. Other than that it all depends on how you treat them. (It could be sooner for the lowers, also, if you tear'em up.) The great thing about vectran, is if it looks like shit, its shit. 2. Flame me all you want, but it will not be as good as the xfire2. It'll be good, but not that good. ***dons flame retardent suit as the pd army light the torches and grab the pitchforks*** Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  3. So that would put him at almost 2.7 under the vx? Pretty sporty Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  4. yeah, I hear ya, me and my xfire2 will be plenty busy this year. Lots to catch up on, me and her. As for the reserve, I heard it got TSO'd, and thats the last I heard. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  5. I hear things, that they are way past early stages of develpoment, but no where near any kind of release. I hear they are sitting on it. I hear the same with PD also. I hear things. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  6. 5 hours for me, door to door on the way home, 5.5 on the way there. Middle of the night, mind you. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  7. When did you go up to the Ranch that it wasnt student friendly? The school is pretty much closed right now (for the winter) but if you call ahead you can get hooked up with whatever you need (weather permitting) Come up and introduce yourself. If you've got a license there are plenty of rigs to be found that want to be jumped. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  8. Perris, and yuck it up. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  9. Send smoke signals if you have to. Kim and I did a half hour with him inthe tunnel 3 weeks ago. Lots of learning in that room! He's a great guy and committed to his students. And the whole national champion thing, too. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  10. Stick with a safire. When you dial in your swoop (slowly at first as to avoid the meat wagon) you will find swooping a xfire a lot easier. If you want to learn faster (and probably safer) start with the safire then go xfire. I have about 400 jumps on safires learning to swoop. If I had started on the xfire, I think I would have a lot less room for error (something you'ld be smart to give yorself when you're learning.) Read up on technique and maybe get some coaching and you will have plenty to work on with a safire. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  11. They have 3 different velocities for that reason. They apparently didnt scale well. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  12. Do which ever you like, but if you do Scott's, talk to him about what you want to get out of the class. I wanted swoop coaching and he had me do 3 straight in approaches. My swoops were much better after that. He knows what he is doing. Tell him where you're at and he can hook you up. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  13. You couldnt go wrong with a safire2. A beautiful flying canopy that gives you super soft stress free openings. No matter what I did to mine (and any Icarus canopy I've owned, for that matter) it opened like a dream. I had 400 of the exact same openings when I was jumping safires. Try to demo a few canopies to see how they open and pack them yourself (if your gonna pack for yourself when you get one.) Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  14. Does anyone have any experience using what appears to be a new line of cameras put out by sony called HC? Look kind of similar in set-up and function to the smaller trv models but about 5 or 6 ounces lighter. Tried a search, found nothing. Thanks. here's what I was looking at Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  15. Two cutaways, both spinners, one body position, one I knocked a toggle free (doh). I packed both. Insert funny story: I packed my first one during the huge blackout this summer. The great hall (very dark) was a lot cooler because the ac had been on. I had a little light from outside. A packers son asked me what I was doing in there. I said packing cause its cooler. He said "what if you have to cutaway?" I jumped and did. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

    Ninja 2?

True, but crossfires weren't known to collapse. Crappy built ones were. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  17. Javelin because I dont want any other container. Vector if zephrhills falls of the earth and takes sunpath with it. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  18. Well it was 18 weeks. And you could give me a mirage tomorrow and I would not take it. Ok I would take it and sell it. I'm sure it doesnt take 18 weeks to build a rig. It could probably be done in a few hours. Sunpath, however, is not building one rig. They are building thousands. Wait if you want, dont if you dont. It is acceptable if you want a javelin and thats all there is too it. Were not talking about landing rockets on the moon here. We're skydivers. I think we take ourselves a bit too seriously sometimes. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  19. I got mine 3 weeks ago, 18 months on the dot. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  20. You knew about the wait before you ordered, so I dont thinks its the 20 weeks that bothers you, its that the 20 weeks arent up yet! Javelins rock. Sunpath is turning out about 50 rigs a week right now. Do the math, thats a lot of rigs in front of you when you order. Cant blame them for being popular. If you want one, you'll wait, its that simple. Everyone else is, there has to be something to that! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  21. The first safires and omegas were only made be PA to start the launch of the canopy in the US. Before they were being produced in NZ and Spain, Icarus new of the sizing discrepency and chose to measure all the canopies in the same method to try to conrtol the sizing confusion. They waited to change the line to go back to their preferred sizing methods (pd's), like the xfire, xfire2, fx, vx, tandem and student zp. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  22. I would wonder about any accuracy of that chart. It list a safire, omega and a vx all as the same size as they are listed. We all know the safire and omega are smaller than they are labeled. I wonder if they actually measured anything or just took info from some other source. Not saying anything is right or wrong, just stirring the pot, I guess. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  23. "I'll show those guys! Grassy knoll my ass!!!" Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  24. I am glad the S&TA talked him out of jumping instead of grounding him. I dont like overflexed authority. The jumper should be told why he shouldnt jump, not told he cant jump. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
  25. Not exactly. Icarus has always used PD's method. Precision didnt when they launched the first safires and omegas in the US. Icarus decided not to change the sizing to try to minimize an already cunfusing situation. They waited to launch the safire2 and omni to change them back to PD's method. The xfire, fx, vx, tandem and student XP have always been measured in the same manner as PD's, so if you have a safire or omega, no matter what year, it is smaller (in PD terms) than is stated on the label.
