Thats pretty much what I use, except I just loop the rubberband under the black ball. I roll the slider and pull it down and loop the rubberband over the slider and back down over the blackball. That way you dont have to modify/sew to the slider. After about 10 jumps or so I have it down to about 10 seconds to stow the slider and let out my cheststrap. Crosswind video/DVD vs Good Stuff Video/DVD

I see what you're saying now. I too have used a toggle to come around if I turned to low and needed to make a heading. Kind of like an early carve before total plane out. I had this vision of just yanking a toggle in my head. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Im not speaking for Joris but, I've heard this a few times. That is just their guarantee on purchased canopies. They have demos all the time (at least What i've seen in the US) but Joris can set you up in Europe, Im sure. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I could probably throw a toggle turn if I had to but I would use a front riser, harness or rear riser before I used toggles. (unless it was an emergency brake turn, not a performance landing) It seems to me that it seriously limits the amout of range you have after the turn is made. The jumper has to swing back under the canopy to have any sort of input options. Just because toggle hookers had good swoops, it doesnt mean it was efficient/safe. I just went to a xfire2 141 loaded at 1.68 and it rocks. I was flying one loaded just under 1.4 and it did not have the dive I wanted. A 109 will give you the dive you want and more. A 99 is gonna be a huge jump. Try the 109 and I think you will have plenty to keep you busy (and happy) for good number of jumps. Xfires rock! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" I would suggest to try to fly one first. I cant say that the wingloading is too high, a few people have jumped much higher at your level and do fine (not to say everyone would, you HAVE to be current and heads up). I just went from a xfire2 loaded at 1.35 to one loaded at 1.67 and its one hefty difference, but its exactly where I want to be. Do your best to get a hold of one and put a few jumps on it. This is what I have told a few jumpers I was helping out. When you are coming down in say a wind that gives you zero groundspeed (or close to it), They dont have to contend with the foward speed of the canopy, only the altitude loss. I personnaly think it will out-perform any other non-xbraced on the market. That said its not so radical that it cant be flow normally. One of the biggest things I like about the xfire2 is the amazing range of flight it has. It can be flown extremely slow and still has plenty of control and available flare power at very slow speeds. It will not, however, safely land for you in any situation. For that you need a brain and expierence and those, unfortunatly, are not on sale at the local gear store.
