Erm, I'm pretty sure any increase in heart rate will help with weight loss. Theres no magic figure or cut off point where you are wasting your time. As long as you are increasing the demand on the body, its simply the calories you burn vs the calories you consume. No doubt there is an optimum area though, but thats just about pacing yourself, finding a reasonably high demand on your body that you can maintain for a long period of time will obviously be beneficial. I think the magic figure for this type of cycling is approximately 800 calories an hour.

I thought ricochets generally go up in the air, down to the ground or whizz along the floor, not do a 180 and come back at you... or was that just nonsense we were told by armed officers so we feel safer when we are around them! lol I don't know anything about ballistics so be good for someone to clarify for me

Its wrong he missed one of his drugs tests but didn't he proudly announce he has had 14 drug tests already during this tour and all have been negative. Good one for Contador, he's impressed me with his explosive charges, really put the pressure on the favourites. Wasn't it 5 charges he put on Rasmussen in stage 15?

Cool, yeah, looking at it I want something I can ride comfortably to get the most out of it. But those frame designs don't half look purdy! From a former engineers eye they look a work of art. I'm also considering the new Boardman Bikes if anyones familiar with them. I just wish I actually knew something about bikes. BOARDMAN BIKES

Further to that... I'm looking at the Trek range and am interested in the Equinox 7, one of their time trial/triathalon bikes. Is there any disadvantages to using these on the road when the only durations I am looking at is being maybe 2 hours max?
-
Lol, a bit different to my comfy ride in front of the computer screen watching motivational videos and music playlists I put together to train to... at sea level
-
Cool thanks. I try to keep the revolutions high so its more a cardio than muscular endurance battle but I mix it up with periods of heavy resistance too to simulate a hill or a sprint. I don't know what it translates to in RPM though
-
I don't know what duration that was but I only went for one hour and it was indoor training, no elements to slow me down.
-
I wouldn't even try to call it back in case its one of those cons where you end up having to sell your house to pay for the phone bill.
-
Umm, is it a business phone or private? Just wondering if its a cell trace. Some businesses pay to use the phones as GPS receivers to keep track of people and in some cases it displays on the handset. I've never seen what this looks like so I'm only guessing.
-
Good stuff. Hope you recover quickly so you can get back training.
-
I'm only starting so any referance is useful
-
Over what sort of duration, time wise, are you maintaining that? If I'm honest after an hour I was drained and would have had to have knocked the pace down to keep going.
-
Whats your steady pace? I averaged 32KM/H for one hour (easy to calculate!) but don't have much referance as I'm new to all this. Is that a respectable pace to try and maintain and build on endurance or should I be cranking it up even further? I tried to mix it up by putting the resistance on its maximum as I didn't just want it all to be aerobic. I think I may have to order a nice shiny new bike soon, indoor training on shitty bits of equipment sucks (and may be giving me an innacurate figure)

Just don't do what I did and use the map as if it was some sort of rally co driver to gauge how fast you can take the corners I got caught out a couple of times I got rid of it after that

Quite illegal but highly amusing

What about positioning a piece of fishing wire vertically from the ground to a tree branch or lampost top or something a few feet out from your mailbox. Then when they swing to hit your mailbox... voila... no arms!
-
By people that don't live here and have no idea what their on about. I certainly whinge about that
-
Sounds like a weird process but a funny company to work for
-
Maybe we're more honest and rather than say "yeah I'd give him a good shooing", people admit they'd probably shit their pants and freeze in terror
-
I would personally avoid telling jokes in an interview unless its something that comes naturally out of the situation. Brining up a random joke will probably make him look like a dick

The fashion industry has been quick to release its latest line...

I'm pretty sure we're not even allowed food and drink in the packing shed
-
We've been totally unaffected daan saaf. Its been wet but no flooding

Oh I know. I say I'll do plenty of things. Its annoying when I haven't pressured anyone though. They've all approached me and because its through work the media officer is kicking things into action and I have no idea how we are going to do yet. Hopefully wont embarass ourselves and we'll make lots and lots of money for the local air ambulance, everyone will have a good time and get to promote the sport too. If it all goes wrong, nevermind. I'm just paying my ticket and jumping as normal
