I guess we got a whole lot of fucked up issues in the UK eh? WHat a troubled country we live in. You would know. Being so close and all
-
John, Firstly, we don't have SWAT in the UK. Secondly, if it is believed someone is an illegal gun trader selling dangerous weapons (albeit incorrectly) you wouldn't walk in with a clipboard and a pen. This is especially funny coming from you, the man who probably wouldn't even go to the grocers without a 12" blade and high powered pistol on your hip. Stop being suck a fucking hypocrite

You? Whats that? Sorry.. Had to join in

QuoteAnd the police mistake is particularly aggregious, since the anti-gun squad didn't even bother to check the firearms licenses to see if the man was legal, before raiding his house.Quote How exactly would you know he is complying without checking?

To those who wanted more info about heart rates and fat burning training zones etc I found this helpful spreadsheet. Just chill out for a few minutes to get a good reading of your resting heart rate and input that and it shows you your optimum training zones depending on the purpose of your training.

Nor am I! Firearms legislation is very complicated over here which is why specialist officers deal with the licencing etc. WHich is another reason I get annoyed when newspapers try to make stories out of a subject they really know nothing about.

I believe that all active firearms have to be secured in a locked gun cabinet which is bolted to the floor or wall with ammunition secured seperately... I think. If he's pleading that they are deactivated antiques then I'm not sure how he stands.

You know for a minute I thought you were referring to a website with the old 'fantasy world dizzy' games. God I used to love them.... that crazy egg!

I believe its meant to be good for your circulation but I can't recall where I heard that or why its the case. -
This was in his house, not a store. I doubt very much that all 900 weapons were under lock and key as they should be therefore he should face prosecution.

The smelly fuckers have to go outside in the wind and rain. Us civilised folk sit indoors sipping our beers in what appears to be an empty bar as everyones outside! Especially nice if your having a pub meal

Not in ENgland now! Smoking ban. Best thing ever!

A police officer has a duty of care over any person in the UK. Officers have been sacked for driving past people who needed medical help or who have been committing offences when they have been off duty and failed to act. Hence the term 'never off duty'. That duty of care, however, doesn't replace the individuals right to defend themselves. The law is very simple and clear on this: "A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large." Also worth noting (direct from the CPS): "If there has been an attack so that self defence is reasonably necessary, it will be recognised that a person defending himself cannot weigh to a nicety the exact measure of his defensive action. If the jury thought that that in a moment of unexpected anguish a person attacked had only done what he honestly and instinctively thought necessary, that would be the most potent evidence that only reasonable defensive action had been taken...". British law is very flexible in allowing use of force for self defence. If you had a shotgun in a lock box in your house and you thought you heard a person or a group in or on your property and had nothing else to hand it would be considered proportionate for you to draw that weapon. If, however, you shoot them in the back while they are running away, as in the famous R v MARTIN case, then that would not be neccesary as there was no threat of violence at that time and as he rightfully found out. You will go to prison for a long time

I wasn't suggesting that. It is odd behaviour though. Maybe it was a medical photo looking at the background of the room

It's called fucking football. So called because you use your feet to kick a ball. Simple. Only the yanks can get that muddled up. So don't follow their poor version of the English language

What kind of parent instinctively reaches for the camera?

I used to have an entry called ICE in my mobile phone with the telephone number 999 . I figured if nothing else it'd make the emergancy personnel laugh. Theres no reason I'd want anyone contacted in a hurry if I was seriously injured and I always have my driving licence and work ID on me anyway.

I saw it. Whilst it was amusing I think it was one of those things that really shouldn't have been done. Such a raw extreme natural environment should not be torn up by a fugly 4x4. The best bit was watching the shouty so called special forces guy push Jeremy Clarkson in the freezing water. I bet if Clarkson could have spoke he would have been fuming

They are relatively new and the sales guy says they are getting very good feedback on them. He can supply any manufacturer of bike so he has no reason to twist my arm into buying one paticular brand. Hes also my friends brother so I would hope he wouldn't stitch me up. I've seen it in the flesh today and had a sizing and it felt nice. The pedals, bottle/cage/shoes etc will all be thrown into the package too. Can't wait, just as with everything to do with my employer it'll take an age

Anyone know anything about Chris Boardman's range of bikes? http://www.boardmanbikes.com/?jspStoreDir=HalfordsConsumerDirect&mpe_id=12054&catalogId=10151&evtype=CpgnClick&intv_id=45544&langId=-1&storeId=10001 I'm looking at the lower level model, the 'comp' one. From what I'm picking up it sounds like its got the right bits and pieces on it. I think its either going to be that or the Trek 1200 for me. Any advice/recommendations I'll be grateful. Thanks EDIT: No matter now, I've decided to go for the Boardman Team: Ultralight 7005 Aluminium frame, triple butted main tubes, double butted stays, CNC headtub, Superlight carbonfibre monocoque forks with full carbon blades and steerer, All Ritchley Pro accesories and finishing kit, Shimano Ultegra gears. PIC HERE Be getting it tax free through the cycle to work scheme the government are running currently. Just means I'll have to wait a little. Went and tried one for size today at local store. Couldn't stop drooling.
