  1. Automatics are shit. They change gear when you try and accelerate round a corner causing you instability. They lurch when you put them in park which is shit when you need to park accurately like in a garage. They are a pain if you need to move them and dont have the keys (can't take them out of park without engine running) and you can't bump start them. You might as well drive round in a golf buggy. Besides, you can't heel & toe in an automatic and match the gears beautifully with a pleasant blip of the throttle as you dive into the corner ready to power through it
  2. It annoys me when people say how stupid someone is because of an accident. Then I got caught up with some idiot telling me he was a black belt diving instructore!? WTF!? If you hadn't guessed Im SC2oopER
  3. I know its my fault for looking at skydiving videos on YouTube but I got caught up in peoples stupid comments. I fucking hate YouTube for that! Whats even worse is people pretending to be skydivers and telling you you're wrong! Give a brother some support here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=j2uWLPEAT4w#GXc925Pwr10
  4. [manuel]I know nooooothing![/manuel]
  5. That will never happen either
  6. Alright gimp. When did you skulk over? We're pleased to have you really!
  7. LMAO - Brilliant video! I like the way the way you express your dismay for quite some time!
  8. For what its worth I don't watch either stories. I just try to avoid the news completely, be it on TV, on the radio or in a newspaper. I take it all with a pinch of salt when I see reports. Its a war, bad stuff happens, heroic stuff happens. I accept that. Just let the men and women get on with it without playing on the hearts of the folk at home either positively or negatively. But then I think there should be a blanket ban on media reporting anything to do with ongoing conflicts.
  9. This sounds like one for Mythbusters!
  10. I saw this on the news and had to turn it off. I can't take propoganda seriously. Nothing can defend the actions of those supposed to be caring for the children but I don't care to have every moral upper hand and good news story thrust in my face. As much as I supported the war I wonder how many of those children were orphaned by our actions in the first place?
  11. I been stuck on this for ages... http://www.funny-games.biz/dragracing.html Can't beat 9.036 secs. God knows how that person got into the 6 seconds
  12. I guess you can't call someone who doesn't want to jump a chicken anymore
  13. I'll be lucky to see any at this rate. Only got 4 weeknds off until October
  14. A nice cup of rosy
  15. In the UK if you are found committing a minor offence where there wouldn't be a neccesity to arrest normally, if you can't prove your name and address you may well end up getting arrested until they are satisfied with your identity. In that respect if your a small time crook it pays to carry around ID. HOWEVER, if you don't commit crime then this is not required of you. Hmm, tough one. As much as carrying an ID card around would be a pain, paticularly as I already carry my photocard driving licence everywhere, if it was a way to prevent my identity being mistaken with someone who I wouldn't want to be confused with then I can see its advantages. Also anyone illegally in the country (of which there are many) will be easily identified and hopefully turfed out to wherever they came from. akarunway - If you have ID on you and a police officer asks for it I suggest you don't refuse. They probably aren't asking for the hell of it. Something must be occuring locally for them to be checking people out therefore by refusing to give ID as you state, although not legally required, just adds suspicion. You may find yourself being searched or something else for your noble act of defiance. I sit on the fence about the whole ID card thing though. I'm not bothered either way
  16. If that is the truth to the letter then that is disgusting. To answer your question of whether you should have had DNA/fingerprints taken, then yes. You went through the full legal process and were found guilty. I can honestly say that from the other side of the fence I have never seen such acts of excessive force or over the top reactions. Maybe I'm fortunate to work with real professionals or maybe you have a problem over there. Its definately not the norm that police try to screw people over here. There's enough work to get on with without making unneccesary work for yourself. Most officers try to wriggle out of having to arret people as it means mountains of paperwork and being off the streets for hours. In a strange twist to the original posters point, CCTV would have been ideal here. A perfect example of how it protects the innocent majority and helps capture the offending minority. Only in your example the tables are turned and its the officers who are the alledged offenders and you guys who are the innocent party. I personally don't have a problem with CCTV. Maybe its because I'm of an age where its always been around. I have never known what its like to not have them and now I work with the CCTV operators its a great effective tool. It doesnt deprive people of their liberty at all. Its not invasive and its brilliant at locating/tracking offenders and evidence gathering. I wouldn't like to see them in residential streets paticularly, but I'm happy with how things are at the moment with city centres being littered with cameras, it makes me feel safer knowing that if something happens to me someone will be on the way to help pretty quickly.
  17. I love it! Used to scare me but now I love those fast approaches where you can just level out and glide along the ground. That is, now I've learnt how much furthur I can really brake my canopy without stalling it. Surprised me just how much extra power there is to be found at the end of a flare when you need to get that last bit of lift. It did take me a long time to mentally get over the rush of wanting to get to the ground and get my feet on the deck though, possibly as I'm not very good with heights!
  18. I did the biggest mistake EVER of visiting a recreational/instructional flying club during the course of my duty and letting out I was a skydiver. I had so many stupid comments. It was like the whole of the whuffo guidebook thrown at me at once. I never realised how anti a bunch of pilots would be! I don't hide it, but I rarely bring it up anymore with people as they just don't understand. Like if I had a blast one weekend and someone at work asks how my weekend was I just tell them "yeah was good thanks, done a few jumps.. you?". When I have actually explained what I got up too in the past, I have a tendancy of getting overexcited and I start recounting the story, almost reliving the moment and start talking at 100MPH without remembering to breathe and they look at me with a definite concern on their face thinking I'm a nutter.
  19. OK, I admit I didn't know it had changed however they are still subject to requirements of the Data Protection Act which states: I agree that if you are released without charge then your details shouldn't be retained HOWEVER it is very rare that someone is mistakenly arrested and released due to genuine error. People are normally released without charge due to insufficient evidence despite you knowing 100% they are guilty of the offence. At least it catches those people who we wouldn't want to slip the net. Its just sad it can catch decent folk who somehow get caught up in amess. But again don't believe the "there I was minding my own business when I got arrested" stories in the Daily Mail
  20. DNA samples and fingerprints are taken whenever anyone is brought into custody FOR A RECORDABLE CRIMINAL OFFENCE. Unsure what you mean by other biometric data. I guess you refer to the form which is a description, ie height, build, hair colour, eye colour, tattoo description/location etc and then is updated on the police national computer It should be easy. Just inform the data controller for the police force (I think thats the right title) who has a duty under the data protection act and freedom of information act to disclose information held on you and also remove that which is irrelevant or no longer required. Lots of information is regularly weeded out and deemed no longer required, Firstly, this information would not be recorded for commiting a civil offence only a recordable criminal offence as stated above. Therefore, as an example, being arrested for Breach of the Peace and later released, you would not have your details taken as its not recordable. Secondly you'd be very lucky to go through the process within 30 minutes Thats your choice, just don't believe all the media hype, especially not the Daily Mail!!!
  21. Wow, you really have a problem with me don't you
  22. Do you ever think for yourself? Think how pissed God will be at you when he realises how much you contributed to polluting his planet to jump out of planes for shits and giggles. You could have used that time to nurse injured orphans or preach the tales of God's impending judgement. That would have really got you in his good books
  23. Out of interest were the 3+ WL canopies landed or were they played around with and chopped away up high?
