  1. I think you're the reason she needs a stiff...... drink
  2. ... now I have a machine gun
  3. Other vehicles such as standard saloons and hatchbacks have soft bumpers with no protruding parts. The bonnete are also clear of danger and are designed so they dont have reinforcements etc where a pedestrians head would strke. They are, as best as can be for a lump of metal, pedestrian friendly. That is completely wiped out when a childs head is at headlamp height, Thats my biggest complaint regarding SUV/4x4 vehicles. Also the fact that people want to be safe at any expense. Normal size cars are designed to have the bumpers etc at similar heights so in the event of an accident the greatest amount of energy is disipated and there is hopefully no intrusion into the passenger compartment of the car. So when some bitch taking the kids to school talking on her mobile phone runs a red light and has a side impact with another vehicle smashing the upper half of the innocent parties vehicle only to get out unscathed I get the hump.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5faGD5b6Zw Looks good. Its nice to see some decent competition
  5. What about the safety of other kids? The ones that get knocked down by these giant monstrosities. If you want/need to go off roading get a Land Rover or a Jeep.
  6. Thats some useful info. Thanks. I might save my pennies and look at something else
  7. Hi, With all being said about seeking instruction from instructors or appropriately qualified coaches is there a way of adding a marker under the persons name for qualififed instructors/coaches. I know of another skydiving website that does this to assist people when they are asking questions online. I understand however it may be difficult verifying qualifications. Cheers, SAm
  8. I agree. I personally like to seek advice from a lot of people and gain a number of opinions then see what seems the most sensible route leaning towards those with the most experience. If its something technical or potentially dangerous then I will always seek advice from an instructor.
  9. Sorry Scoop, you are misreading AFFI totally. He IS knowledgable. Do a search and read a number of his posts. Hi Pops. I wasn't suggesting he was. I was making a general comment that if a person should be bullshitting in order to sound knowledgable when they don't really know then that would be wrong and dangerous. I know AFFI is knowledgable. I can't argue with the jump numbers & ratings
  10. Sometimes its nice to share experiences and seek advice from people in a similar position. ie someone who has just overcome the same hurdle recently. Thats human nature. If you're blatantly bullshitting in the hope of looking knowledgable then thats wrong.
  11. If an event becomes a hub for crime it shouldn't be allowed to continue. Simple as that. Fuck who you upset. Trouble is it would be claimed that the police is institutionally racist for preventing what is basically a black carnival to go ahead. All around the country we are living in the shadow of the McPherson report.
  12. Really?! In that case, scrap what I said. I did know of it just didn't click that was the film. Thanks!
  13. I remember listening to an interview on Skydive Radio a while ago where they had a falconer (right term?) who had trained his birds to freefall with him. He said he had done some film but I can't seem to find any such footage or videos available. Does anyone know where I could find it. I'd love to see the bird totally in control of the environment. Thanks
  14. The only thing I have in my car is a few pennies in the ashtray (for those times when you go slightly over at the pump!) and the owners manual in the glovebox. Nothing to nick and therfore nothing on display. Sorry for your damage. Bastards!
  15. Scoop

    $150 laptop

Seeing as this thread has been resurrected I might as well add that I did some digging and noone seems to have received the product to date There are alot of blogs etc like this with people singing its praises but noone has confirmed they have actually received the item. Just a warning
  16. It's always been a problem but there's no need to be racist
  17. Sorry to hear that. I may be wrong but they quote they use an EVA foam which is an energy absorbant material in their new helmets. It won't help in many situations I'm sure. But its got to be better than just a bit of plastic lined with cloth if, for example, I get a stray kick to the head or similar. Gotta stack the odds in your favour if you can
  18. I know plenty of youths from disadvantaged backgrounds join the military. Its not nice to say, but there are alot of fuck ups there because they have nowhere else to go. Some make something of themselves, some can't make the grade or hack the discipline and get out... only with a bit more knowledge. I definately don't believe they join up specifically to lear skills to equip them for the streets. My bigger concern is when someone who is already a pain goes to prison. They just end up hitting the gym everyday and associating with higher class scum so come out knowing a bit more and alot tougher too
  19. Whilst I know this is a generalisation I have to argue it. I grew up without a father on a housing estate with no immediate male role model. I didn't get involved in a world of crime. Quite the contrary. I work for the police. Ironically if my Dad had remained at home I probably would have been a scumbag like him
  20. I bought a Z1 evo which has been great overall. Protects from minor bumps and scrapes like banging head when getting out door or falling over on landing. Works well for mounting my audibles too. However, I'm thinking of looking at a Gath next as I believe they actually offer some impact protection as they have foam in them as opposed to cloth. EDIT TO ADD: My comment doesn't come as an experienced freeflyer but just from common sense
  21. That was my undersatanding too
  22. I was lucky. The concentration of CS we used in solution was enough to not really bother me. I was of the lucky few who didn't get badly affected. Which unfortunately meant I was the one who was often rolling on the floor with people in a contaminated environment. Ahhh... I miss those days
  23. Wow. What a story From just looking at the photo you could be mistaken in thinking she went through with it out of pity but I see theres more to it than that. Best of luck to them in the future
  24. Is there a story to accompany the picture? I'm not familliar with the background
