  1. I think they are more interested in your logbook than some certificate printed at the DZ. I never got certificate for completing AFF. I just had it signed off in my logbook. Only thing is to send off for licence the paperwork has to be endorsed by an instructor and if they don't know you as a jumper it might be difficult. They may make you do some sort of rejump, as is my understanding.
  2. I only drive manual cars. Autos make me sick, I like to drive, if I wanted a ride I'd get th bus
  3. If I was high enough I'd want to cut it away. It might fly OK with gentle flight but can you imagine having some turbulence as you come in to land
  4. What do you mean by compensation? You mean the rescued person should receive some money? If thats what you mean then no fucking way. We had that in the UK with the fairly recent terrorist bombings. All the families started demanding huuuuuuge sums of money for the death of their loved ones. Seemed ridiculous to me at the time and still does. I could make a bomb and set it off tomorrow, no fault of the government. Maybe award enough to cover funeral costs but not large sums for their death. If they were so reliant on that person as a contributor to the family, they should have organised life insurance. Harsh but fair, why should 99.9999999% of the population suffer through freak events? EDIT: I think I now understand better. I don't think the people should have to pay back the government for extracting them. I believe our Royal Navy is shipping Brits straight to Cyprus where they can then fend for themselves in a safe environment. Seems fair to me. We got enough refugees in this country without some more so-called Brits who moved away 20 odd years ago being shipped over
  5. It does, just proves to me you need to get as much as you can out of life because you never know when it'll cruely be taken away.
  6. Haha, I thought was pic of a black guy too. What a dumbass I am!
  7. Im sure he would with a bit of encouragement. He was a keen and skilled skateboarder and pretty fearless. To die like this is such a waste. The worst part was talking to my mate, I kept repeating myself saying, "what, drowned? How?" Hoping he'd follow with something like "..and they pulled him out and now hes up the hospital" but he didn't and I made the poor fucker repeat himself about 6 times. I've never seen him cry before
  8. I know its not a fellow jumper, even I wasn't very close to him but its kinda hit me hard. This sucks, I see a guy who was my best mate at school this evening, we kinda drifted apart as we got different lifestyles but today he tells me his brother drowned swimiing in a reservoir trying to cool off in the heatwave we're experiencing right now. He was a great kid, only 17 and ready to start his adult life. How cruel can you get. Not like he was a shitbag, he was an air cadet I believe with good education. Ryan RIP
  9. I know, you do one little thing and you never hear the end of it!
  10. Sounds like a zen moment!
  11. According to Robin Williams it was the scottish! I assume the information was correct, but th sketch surrounding it was entertaining too!
  12. Yeah, we got a water shortage which means no sprinklers or hosepipes allowed!
  13. I think on the back of what I've heard I'm gonna try and carry it on hand luggage but make sure I know theres enough room in the booked suitcse just in case it has to go in there.
  14. How much longer you gonna whine about this? Two way street my man, two way
  15. Who would plan a marathon through death valley! You gotta be seriously fit and also mentally unhinged to want to do that!
  16. You come to our island and went to Scotland What were you thinking!
  17. *makes mental note* We ALL do it... why do you think I bought a 1.4 Peugeot 306. It wasn't for its french chic styling or its cheeky continental charm. Its a licence saver!
  18. Lucky you or your car didn't spontaneouly combust! I don't know if you guys just take it for granted, but that is some breathtaking scenery... in a barren kind of way
  19. Thats cool I wonder if all these people are jumpers themselves or if some are potential new entrants to the sport. Be sweet if skydive radio was attracting new people to our sport too. I been trying to catch up on old shows I missed and had my Ipod on ALL DAY at work listening to shows. Trying to get in the skydiving spirit and learn as much as I possibly can before I go away for my first skydiving holiday to Spain. Some of the guests been very interesting for me to listen to. As a newbie its fascinating to hear the level of progression available in different disciplines. I don't think I'm ever gonna get bored of skydiving
  20. Sounds like you had bit of a yee-haa crowd. Not ideal!! Have fun and keep us informed
  21. I hate to say it, but if you got nagging questions you really should speak to your DZ. It sounds like you have some fears perhaps as not familiar enough with the kit. I'm sure the people at the DZ will happily show you if you feel need extra input.
  22. Drive faster than someone on the inside and you'll get a £60 fine and 3 penalty points. It can be frustrating but generally if your attentive as you drive, you can make good progress. People that don't read the road ahead seem to find it more stressful than those that don't because they end of braking behind traffic at the last minute To be honest I don't think I've ever seen anyone on the motorway in the fast lane doing less then 70MPH. So if people are holding you up, its either because there is conjestion or because your trying to drive in excess of the speed limit. I'd recommend you don't flash at people though. People get attacked for that sort of thing regularly. If I am doing the speed limit and some fucker flashes me because I'm holding them up it really fucks me off and I tend to hold them up even longer There are of course those drivers that seem completely oblivious to lane discipline and they annoy me big time!
  23. Hey, don't be ashamed stooopid! Its not a natural thing to do after all. AAt least you got one less pressure now (birthday thing). Go again and do it for fun, for yourself. I promise you you'll love it!
