How about 'Melting Point OF Wax' by Thrice (H) Im sure andy will agree with me THRICE LYRICS "The Melting Point Of Wax" I've waited for this moment All my life and more And now I see so clearly What I could not see before. The time is now or never This chance won't come again Throw caution and myself into the wind. There's no promise of safety with these secondhand wings But I'm willing to find out what impossible means. A leap of faith. Parody of an angel Miles above the sea I hear the voice of reason Screaming after me "You've flown far too high boy now you're too close to the sun, Soon your makeshift wings will come undone" But how will I know limits from lies if I never try? There's no promise of safety with these secondhand wings But I'm willing to find out what impossible means. I'll climb through the heavens on feathers and dreams 'Cause the melting point of wax means nothing to me. Nothing to me Nothing to me I will touch the sun or I will die trying. Die Trying. Fly on these secondhand wings Willing to find out what impossible means I'll climb through the heavens on feathers and dreams 'Cause the melting point of wax means nothing to me Nothing to me Means nothing to me Miles above the sea.

I'm glad I'm out the office and back in the workshop. Now there is a hell of alot of banter and piss taking that goes on there and we all have a good laugh. Shame more people can't do that

THanks, I reckon I can make the latter part of the boogie then

Seems that way. Its the 'equal' world we now live in

Isn't standard practice for the first instance in a grievance procedure to be informal action? I.E to be made aware of their actions in a discreet manner. Even in the police the grievance advice is first step. Tell the person whos annoying/harrasing/bullying you to stop. If they don't know they are causing you any discomfort then why would they stop. 2nd step is aan informal chat from a superior and then it gets into the heavy stuff. The scenario you present seems ridiculously heavy handed. Maybe if any serious actions results from it he could sue. This can't be in line with the agencies internal procedures, surely! Or I'd hope not Hope it sorts itself out quick mate.

A guy at the dropzone had a T-shirt that read.. "I spent most of my money on skydiving and beer. the rest I just wasted" I think this is a true and accurate statement! Don't worry about the cost, once you get ataste you will find the money, just like a junky

We jump a Beaver in winter. Great aircraft. Not bad rate ofclimb really and has a fun element about it that I can't put my finger on. Also it has a snug heater which is ideal for UK jumping!

HAHAHA, who are you kidding with the 'I was so disgusted' cover story. You loved it you filthy slag! Any attention is good in your eyes So when you coming down south big boy?

Hey, I really want to go to the Langar boogie but I'm gonna stioll be recovering financially from this trip. Not so much the jumping but the nights out. Still, I shall see what I can do. Remind me of the dates :) Tony, the rig was sweet. So comfortable. Great in the aircraft, great in freefall (I actually had to double check I was wearing a rig for a second) and even better under canopy. THe canopy flies great, very responisve compared to what I was on but docile enough to be safe. The landings are good when I get the flare right! But still getting used to these controlled landings, I'm used to flaring like a loon at the last possible second as I had to on the student Mantas.

Stupid question about Alti's in aircraft holds
Scoop replied to RandomLemming's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hey mate, might need to eat my words. Seems new restrictions were imposed today. Update from Ryanair website but applies across the board for all UK flights.... -
Haha, yeah! I think your right. But when jumping started it was so active, with 3 aircraft rotating constantly. The beer levels amongst the jumpers levelled themselves out with all the cool new stuff we were enjoying doing EDIT: Shamlessly stole a pic from the website so you can see the aerial view

Recently got back from 10 day trip to Empuriabrava after getting licenced in UK. Unfortunately with the weather they had over there only got 3 days of jumping. Due to the dry but windy weather the yellow aircraft of the 'Bombers' were flying constantly (At one count 12 planes and 3 helicopters) putting out forest fires which were getting worryingly regular during the initial part of the trip. I was nervous at first, travelling alone and not knowing what to expect, but as soon as I arrived I was welcomed by other skydivers and we all went out for dinner then off to the local pubs. If we couldn't spend our money on jump tickets this was an ideal way to get rid of some Great bunch of people, cheap food, cheap beer, cheap jumps. Weather was still awesome if windy. Cue beer... got to do first 2 way, first climb out exit from an aircraft, highest exit altitude so far (15k), first horny gorilla, first dock, first real videoed jump, first major off landing , first time using own gear. In short a great time to be had in Spain, I'll be going back for sure. Stunning scenery, next to the mountains and the coast. The town is full of canals and looks gorgeous. Awesome jumpship, so fast and nice sized door. Great handles. To anyone else thinking about going away to do some jumping. DO IT! Seriously, so much fun to be had going away. Made some great contacts with people from all over world. I guess Ryanair going to be seeing more from my credit card By the way, I don't work for the dropzone, just really enjoyed my time there despite the limited jumps. I feel like a skydiver now, not just someone who happens to also fall from aircraft

Purchasing canopy from classified sections of dropzone.com???
Scoop replied to TKATC's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I bought reserve off here. Good communication with seller. We agreed to have it shipped to my rigger who would act as an independent agent for the deal. He inspected it, I paid the seller, but the item wasn't released into my posession until the seller had contacted my rigger. I think this is a pretty standard and safe practice -
I'd say that if you use a packer you accept the added risk. I wouldn't be happy but its inevitable that when you pack that many rigs, all different in make, you will balls up from time to time. I guess the stakes are just a bit higher than say, a car mechanic or gardener making a mistake in their work.

... and you know this because you are a miltary intelligence analyst responible for assessing targets/threats and confirming hits for the Israeli army? I really think people shouldn't comment on somthing they know little or nothing about. With the media pushing stories in favour of their own agenda and the use of propoganda I don't think someone from the outside can really comment accurately. EDIT TO ASK: Amazon, you seem pretty clued up or full of knowledge. Can I ask what your position is. Do you live or have relatives living in the affected areas?

Stupid question about Alti's in aircraft holds
Scoop replied to RandomLemming's topic in Gear and Rigging
Just got back from Empuriabrava. 7 day wind hold for the 'Tramontana' a northerly wind from the mountains but 3 days of awesome jumping. Of course also meant 10 nights of drinking. Haha, was great place and great people I checked in the rig due to weight but had no problems as I had it in a rig bag which was then secured inside a semi-rigid suitcase. If you are flying soon expect delays at passport control though. Queues were monstrous as they were really scrutinizing each passport. Strange as in Spain they didnt even check my passport -

I flew out on the 3rd from Stansted to Girona and back in early hours of this morning. No restrictions on baggage or carry on (despite terrorist threat) and I took my altimeter, helmet and dytter on board in my helmet bag without a problem. -
I'm not a military operations planner so I can't comment on whats going on in the area and their reasons for it. I think this is the position in every conflict and is why the annoying voice of the whiny people is nothing more than an inconvenince to the authorities. If they wanna fight, let them fight, they will regardless of public opinion, I just hope that civilian casualties are left to a minimum. I also find it amusing when people 'demand' ceasefires. You can demand all you want but without the posibility of action it really is an empty threat.

Calm down mate, take life easier. Go sit by the pool with some ice cold beers in the sun... oh wait you cant. LOSER!

How can you fly through a rainbow. It has no physical form, its a trick of light. I suppose from someone elses perspective it may have looked like you did. Am I right on this or talking shit?

Days off for religious holidays - how much is too much?
Scoop replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
In my opinion school should carry on as normal. If the parents want to pull their kids out of school thats up to them. -
Autos just take away so much of the control from the driver, I hate it! If I wanna cruise down a steep hill, I put it in a lower gear and ride it down using the engines drag. If I wanna scream into a bend and left foot brake I can. If I wanna heel & toe down the box I can! Of course if I want to poodle along I can just put in top as well. Its really not much more effort to drive a manual in my opinion, takes more co-ordination, but not more effort
