  1. Just bear in mind why your doing it, don't feel you have to, do it becaus eyou want to and because you are ready too. You may well be OK but it's your health at the end of the day and thats more important. Good idea to check with the doctor though
  2. very well me ol' mucker. Where you hiding? SUpposed to be working again?
  3. A quick search on the forum search engine brought up this old thread... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=158013;search_string=jumping%20with%20a%20cold and... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1756167;search_string=sinus You might be OK doing static line but if its your first jump I'd recommend you in best possible position to undertake something new like this. I don't know about you but when I have a cold I'm kinda preoccupied with feeling rough. But then I am a wimpy man and we don't get colds, only man flu! Oh yeah, as I now read you have learnt in other posts. The key with any query you have is ask your instructors next time you are at the DZ. Nobody minds you asking questions online but take whatever you read with a pinch of salt. Only opinion worth listening too really is your instructors
  4. I've never snapped it but the hospital did cut it for me!
  5. Best ways your sinuses unload and you land looking like a snot monster. Worst way you cause severe and permanent damage to your ears as they cant equalise properly. I believe this can cause the ear drum to actually pop and bleed nicely. So ultimately I suppose the worst thing is going deaf but I'm not an ear specialist by any stretch of the imagination.
  6. I haven't read your other posts that I see you have made so don't know if you are sincere in your questions but... relax and smile. If you don't think your gonna enjoy it, maybe you wont. Its great! If you feel positive before jumping you'll have a better eperience. For that door fear you will get (only natural) I can only say what worked for me and thats just think your dive over and over again and maybe try to steady yourself by controlling your breathing. In through nose, out through mouth. I'm no instructor but worked for me However... if you got a cold DO NOT JUMP, wait until after you have cleared completely. I don't know the true extent of damage but I know it ain't pretty and it can be serious. Oh, I'd recommend something sportier than jeans that allows full free movement of your body
  7. How many British electricians, carpenters, engineers, butchers you know that have not only been arrested but also been sent to prison I think this is now you showing your lack of understanding for our culture. You don't go to prison for accidently walking home with your work knife still in your overall pocket. I'll let you do some googling though and find some really obscure cae where that did happen. You search hard nd long enough you'll always find something to support your argument no matter how skewed the report or credible the source
  8. You have to have a lawful excuse. For example miltary uniform or a blade that scottish wear when in traditional dress. Using an 8.5" hunting knife to open boxes is pretty sad in my opinion and not reasonable. I know if I did it at work I'd probably get the piss taken out of me Luckily I have a stanley knife and a hook type for such eventualities. Also prevents me cutting myself accidently. If I was to have an industrial injury (for example stabbed myself in eye using knife to open boxes) I wouldn't get a penny. I am provided with suitable safe equipment to do so. Also I like whatever was in the box to still be in good condition when I open it and not have a great big gouge in it.
  9. Yeah I definately agree, be interesting to see accurate figures though. I wonder why this is though?
  10. I cant think of any at our DZ but that doesn't mean there isn't. Its an interesting point actually. Maybe we should have a race poll!
  11. I understand fellow brit travelled to Empuria recently and they said they have changed policy and must now be checked in. EDIT: I'm referring to Ryanair
  12. Laws seem very similar to what we have in the main. Funny that we get criticised for it
  13. What do you mean ban pointy objects? If you mean knives then yes. They are prohibited and dealt with as bladed articles. Why does a person need to carry a dirty great big knife in the UK? Not like your surviving in the wilderness. I fail to see the relevance of this point. I assume that the carrying of knives on a person is also illegal in the US. The purpose is so that when we search people and find a bladed article they are arrested and the article is seized. Its desired effect is to kurb knife crime and it has worked to a tremendous effect despite recent media publicity. The power to stop and searc and prosecute people carrying is an amazing tool at keeping our streets safe. As it happens, in all the searches I have conducted I have never found a knife and only ever arrested one person in posession of a knife who was walking down the road with a very real intent to use it there and then. Thats in 3 years, oh and as for firearm, I don't think many officers see a gun on the streets in their whole career
  14. I don't know but I think I have a new ringtone!
  15. In that case I should start worrying
  16. This puts a new spin on things. He's a hero, not a villain! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQAv1F4NOFY
  17. Your gun is sticking in my hip
  18. Sorry if I'm pissing on anyones bonfire, but do you find it funny how forces can supposedly be calculated using equations. I think its all bullshit. You can have an idea but ultimately real world testing is the only thing I trust and believe. No amount of theory will change my mind. People used to say the world was a cube too, after all, they were wrong about that. If a manufacturer states a figure because they've done some rough calculations based on experience and then tested their canopy to confirm this rating, thats good enough for me and most people I'd say. If you decide to exceed that then you are in the caution territory and anything you do is at your own risk.
  19. Hmm, I know what I mean but it just doesn't come out right and I rub people up the wrong way. I was trying to agree. I wasn't saying your a more violent country just that it seems natural taht if more people have possesion of weapons then to be equal you need one too. Quite simple. Never mind. I'll just shut my big fat mouth and agree to disagree
  20. But I'm paid a week in hand. Overtime worked this week won't be paid until following week I know I missed a good oppurtunity but I hear there will be another one at the Langar boogie!
  21. Sorry dude. I was trying to think of a better term. Maybe given the climate for gun crime and posesiion. TO be without one would put you very much at a disadvantaged position.
  22. Yeah its fine, just don't like heavily biased people telling us how we got it wrong when the staistics swing hugely in our favour. I guess given your culture you'd be better off to own a gun than be without but not here me ol' mucker
