  7. 'cuz if you burn the steak you can go to Payless and pick up another... If you burn in skydiving, you have to get your next BBQ supplies at the great pearly Payless in the clouds. When there is so much more at steak than steak, people can get excited because others challenge what they feel makes them the safest. I'm thinking about quitting online forums because of that anger you're talking about; I definately don't feel it at any DZ I've been to. Especially about flaming the coach rating! I just can't quit though, there's just too much downtime between classes! --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  8. I've got my first job out of college and I'm moving to PA (Right near the Chambersburg DZ!). Thats a long drive from Purdue when gas is 3.00+! I'm gonna need a 1 bedroom so I can hang my rig there during the week. Any ideas how to locate one from far away besides checking the local classifieds? --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  9. My most memorable was landing out at the Richmond Boogie this year. We landed in this tiny patch of grass between two country roads where they fork off from eachother. Some lady in a minivan yells: OH MY GOD ARE YOU GUYS ALRIGHT? and we said: "Can we get a ride?" --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training

  11. A lot of those guys are bad ass 4-way competators who can spin their bodies on a dime. I believe the lowest jumper had something like 600 jumps and the highest had tens of thousands. All these guys evolved a body position that works for them the best to get the job done. Check out team RW videos on SDM.com and you'll see that a lot of flyers have 'bad' body positions. They are head high, arms all over the place, and legs close together but thats what they need to do to turn points. The hard ARCH is to keep you as stable as possible and as you learn to control your instability, you'll be able to evolve a body position that works best for you. But ARCH now and listen to your instructors before I get flamed for my inexpierience and my crappy coach rating. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  12. HA! I had a 'toten chit' in the boy scouts! You'd get a corner cut off if you misused your god-like priveledge of whiddling sharp sticks. Maybe we should start cutting off corners of our USPA 'skydiving chits' for low pulls and cypres fires! --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  13. Damn I missed a lot during my nap today Thanks for getting my back Ryan! I've been a packer for a long time and since I am a poor college kid thats how I pay for my skydiving. I used to keep track of my pack jobs but I lost count close to 1000. (0 mals *knock on wood*) I would/could never clear a student to pack for himself/herself. Legally even when I pack I must be supervised by a rigger or the jumper in command of the rig next. I understand all of this and I understand my limitations, but it doesn't mean that I can't teach people how to pack. I've been teaching other sports for years. Especially swimming, thats a pretty damn good summer job. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  14. For my money - the basic rule I teach everyone is: Lines one the inside, fabric on the outside - and - Its going to come out exactly as it went in! Keep your linestows even and neat and keep everything symentrical. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  15. I knew there wasn't something right about that I'm going next door to see if my neighbor's got a shotgun I can borrow so I can SHOOT MYSELF IN THE FACE --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training

  18. My skydiving birthday was april 3rd this year, so I guess I'm still 1... but I am planning on getting at least 300 in before October. I'll check out the site! Thanks --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  19. You crazy bastards- I'm moving out to the area (Penn) and I think it would be really cool to make a BASE jump at bridge day. Should I try to get 1st jump training beforehand? From what I have found in the forums it seems like the bridge day FJC is pretty abrieviated. How can I get a hold of the proper equipment? My canopy is on the black list - none of my DZ instructors are BASE'o'Philes either. Skydive Radio got me all excited this week! Cheers! --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  20. Alright- I guess we'll all just have to wrestle that bull when it shows up all pissed off Horsehoe is definatly a chaotic malfunction and the term covers a wide variety of problems, i agree mine is very specific. I guess if its anything, i suppose it would be wise to devise a plan for as many horseshoe mal variations as possible. Plan the dive and dive the plan, right? --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  21. The picture (horribly) shows what I'm going for. Without disconnecting the RSL there's no point in cutting away, 'cuz the pilot chute is going right up in that mess as soon as the risers clear anyway. I'd rather have my reserve dance with the main after linestreach.... Thoughts? I agree w/ the gear mantinence hardcore. w00t w00t new closing loops. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  22. Hey, what about the horseshoe though? If you find yourself at 6k feet trailing a mess that you can't get rid of, wouldn't you rather burn 2k feet disconnecting your RSL and cutting away and clearing the mess from above your reserve container before you fire your last chance through a forest of suspension lines which are now completely twisted and tangled? I'd rather deploy below 4k feet with a better chance than deploy higher and have less of a chance, but more time to fight. I am seriously intrested in everyone's opinion, and I haven't ment to convey any type of attitude, I don't have the jump numbers for that. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  23. Is disconnecting an RSL in freefall midair rigging??? If I ever suffer a horseshoe w/ a pilot chute I can't extract, I'm going for that RSL tab before I cut away if altitude allows. Edit to add: USPA recomends the disconnect of your RSL during a wrap, downplane or sidebyside cutaway if altidue allows. I've gotta disagree w/ you --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  24. Long hours in your backyard alone + Barnyard animals + Video Camera + unicle + 6' drops onto taint = NO BALLS Granted, thats pretty crazy that he can do all that on one wheel... but if anyone can take that much damage with a bike seat there's something missing in their life. --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
  25. Yea we think it was an exit strike with the top of the door frame out of a 182- He was doing his 1st dive exit --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
