Was it actually "cutting", like with scissors or a hot knife? I was under the impression that you heated up the coffee can on a stove, then picked it up with thick gloves, and pressed it onto the fabric to melt the hole in the ribs, so the edge would be effectively hot-knifed, and there wouldn't be any fraying. for a bunch of reasons that would not work, the can just happened to be the right size hole, we used a hot knife, the trick was to make the cut clean so that there would not be any big blobs of melted nylon - they would be sharp and damage other parts of the canopy Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. this is your big chance to "help" the government buy a couple thousands of these babies and park them in a field then after the next hurricane this year, sell them back to FEMA for half-off whatever the new price would be FEMA would be getting a great deal Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. Jerry - weren't the first cross ports thought to be "crazy"? If my memory is correct: my standard Cloud worked great without them (so what if you had to hold brakes to inflate the end cells) but then the Cruiselite had them so we used a coffee can for a template and hot knifed some holes, only one time we screwed up and put one in the top skin Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. Bill's example isn't anti-gun, it's anti-you-can-have-anything-in-any-quantities-you-want-in-a-residential-section. I think it's reasonable to restrict certain amounts of certain items because when they're gathered together in a pile, they're more dangerous than when spread out. This applies to a lot of substances. A gallon jug of pool chlorine is "fairly" harmless, but to have a 30' shipping container full of it in your backyard would be a concern. ---------------------------------------------------- that small amount of chlorine mixed with some brake fluid would get real interesting in a hurry any amount of chlorine and ammonia are another well known issue Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. start one about yourself and see what it is when it gets back to you, then you will know why rumors are so worthless one particular idiot started one on me, when the local gossip queen came to me and said, "I just heard xy&Z that is so unlike you", I said, "well I made some mistakes when I was younger and they are finally catching up to me, just wait till the whole story comes out, hope the feds don't look for me here" by the time it came back around it was real interesting Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I'll be having some A&W tomorrow for lunch. I could put a few drops in a ziplock bag, in an envelope and mail it to you. Might not be sanitary but you could at least smell it.

I agree with that perception so going back to what someone else posted, go back and in a nice way, ask them if it would be acceptable to meet the required performance goals in one jump, and ask them if there are any specific concerns, hopefully they will have a good answer other than - "that is just the way we do it" find out what the requirements are and go prepare Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. What Can We Do About Skyride II
billeisele replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Please refer yourself to post #669. Actually READ the thread before you comment, if you are illiterate, please find a friend who can help you. I missed the post because it was a reply to a different post, your response is telling, if I was actually illiterate, visually lacking or somehow otherwise impaired this would be cruel, but fortunately I'm not, I simply asked the question to understand your moral/ethical standing so basically what you are saying is you don't see any link between Skyride and ASC, you are OK with jumping at ASC and spending money that is used to support Skyride activities, fundamentally that is the same as saying that you agree with what they are doing Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws. -
no, no, please leave it on Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

free country, you can say anything but so can they, like "see ya" it is purposefully left open to allow an instructor to evaluate the students performance, the instructor will then decide the next step at this point the student is not capable of determining what is safe or unsafe, a student saying, "I've done a recurrency AFF and am now comfortable to jump solo" would not work the concern (in this case) would be how much have you forgotten from your previous training and jumps, and making only 1 jump may not provide sufficient opportunity to make that determination again if I was the instructor: first AFF recurrency training and an AFF jump then, depending on how you performed, some type of second jump in most if not all cases a jumper with only 23 jumps with a 6 month layoff needs training and close observation, it is not just jump numbers but how recent were those jumps, what type of jumps and how well did they perform on those jumps go read your training material, review the SIM, watch some video, do a lot of ground prep and get very prepared, it will show in your performance Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. yep, the guidelines are "at least one", it is up to the DZ to decide without knowing anything about your proficeincy, I'd do an AFF jump and then decide the next step, it would be at least a coach jump Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
