OK, so I just ran into one of the best CD's I've ever bought. Yngwie Johann Malmsteen - Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra Op. 1. It is absolutely fantastic. Not like Metallica's S&M, where it is Rock music with an orchestra, this is actually a composition by Yngwie, for EVERY SINGLE INSTRUMENT! He composed it all, and it rocks. It is baroque music, with a simple electric guitar played by yngwie, what a madman. NO rock vocals and drums and shit, just an orchestra. I will be listening to this for years to come! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

So ive been playing for a while, and need to learn more songs. I loke all kindsa older stuff, a lot of DMB (which is getting old), Grateful Dead, Widespread is good. But I want to learn some classic old songs that everyone from the sixties and seventies would know - that kind of stuff. So what songs do you like that I need to learn? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

One of my requirements to graduate is MUSIC 220 - Symphonic music. My dad always listened to classical music on sundays, and it pissed me off. I hated it. Now that I am taking this class, as well as struggling with guitar, I start to realize what genuises these guys are. Beethoven absolutely blows me away. How can I not play a freaking Dave Matthews Song, and he can compose a 40 minute long symphony while he is DEAF? What a nut. Genius I tell you. Pure Genius. Anyone else enjoy listening to classical music, and if so, what? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Ha, well thats great. Since no one else has said anything, and I really did like SGC, I think that is where my car is pointing. Cheap gear, great staff and close. What kind of plane are they jumping now? And sunny, it would be cool to have you come out! Maybe we can do a jump! If no one else does, I will definately start up a fire friday night, plenty beer and some good food. I'll see if I want to cook some traditional south african potjiekos. Depends if u want it or not! So I think we need to push for everyone to come to SGC! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

What is the Best DZ to jump at - as far as planes, jumping in the week, gear rental prices and freefly safe or not, jumping ticket prices, and driving distance. WHY SHOULD I COME TO YOUR DZ????? (Ive been to Xenia, and if you all don't convince me to go to a better DZ I'll prolly go there in Sat + Sun.) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

So I took your idea Wendy - Congratulations... How about this for a "proposal" due in 20 minutes. Pushing the limits The majority of people would perceive skydiving as a dangerous sport, but drive their cars to work every day. They are daily taking a risk, and being exposed to that risk for a longer period of time than most skydivers will be exposed to in a month. Yet, most people will not engage in such activities. So how do we make skydiving as a sport safer, so that more people will engage in this wonderful activity? To get a deeper understanding of what the risks are in skydiving, we have to dissect the whole activity into different parts. We will see which parts are dangerous and what is not, so that we can target our attention on the areas that are unsafe, and generate a proposal to make those areas safer. We will look at the different ways in which we can do this, and what will be more effective. We will decide who the responsible parties are for those individual elements, and then bring the whole topic back together and decide how we can affect the sport as a whole. A friend of mine recently died due to a skydiving accident. It was an avoidable accident that he was responsible for. He killed himself by trying to execute a high performance landing – a maneuver where a jumper will rapidly turn about 400 or 500 feet above the ground. This will generate significant forward speeds, aimed at the ground. The jumper will then stop turning at the right moment and level off inches above the ground, going up to 70 mph. In the skydiving community, this is known as a “swoop”. Jumpers get bored with a straight in, slow approach, and then turn to swooping as the cure for their need of adrenaline. It is a very exciting maneuver to do, as well as observe. Even though this might seem fun to the jumpers, are overwhelmingly popular in the skydiving community and is the only part of skydiving that draws a tremendous crowd, it is by far the biggest killer. In 2004 alone, 36% of all skydiving fatalities were because of the landing. And even though this doesn’t pinpoint swooping, it is a commonly known fact that swooping makes up almost that entire statistic. Those people could have easily prevented their own deaths by not initiating a swoop. Even though the jumper decides for himself that he might die and continues to engage in the swoop, it is not only himself that will be affected if he dies. The dropzone he was jumping at will get bad press, as will the entire skydiving community. He is responsible for making those choices, but the entire community will suffer from his actions. We will look into the details of high performance landings as well as other fatality causing errors that affect the perception of the sport by the outside community. We will then show who is responsible and propose a solution to the problem, so that we could make skydiving a safer sport, for the benefit of all. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Paper Two Assignment (20% of Final Grade) Length: 1200-1500 words. Sources: As in our first paper, I am most interested in what you think and the personal experiences you can bring to your subject. But I do want you to use at least three outside sources for this paper, and we will begin work on why we use some sources and not others. Objectives: In this paper we are going to work on asking and refining a question to be answered in essay form using a combination of outside sources and your own views and experiences. In this process we will begin looking at how to analyze sources, how to organize information effectively, and how to do basic research. We will continue our work on forming a clear main point, writing an effective introduction, formatting properly and effectively, and using specific examples to explain our positions. Topic: We are going to continue our focus on identifying and describing where responsibilities lie in a particular situation, and I hope that a topic will emerge from the work you have already done or from some of the reading you have done. We will search by asking focused questions about what we discover. Again we will be limited to the non-fiction essay form and to length limits, but otherwise you will be able to go wherever you wish. However, because one of our purposes here will be to learn how to move through the research process, I am going to insist that you stay in the area you propose to write about on Sept. 27 It is very broad...what should I do? How could I link this to jumping or the outdoors? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Hey you all that are going to the GoFast games. Will anyone be driving back from CO to the Eastern US? I left my kayak and paddle out at Skydive the Rockies last season. This is aprox 10 miles from the bridge. I need my paddle! (its old, but it works!) So basically I'm looking for a hookup with transportation of my paddle from CO to KY. I live in Lexington, KY, and i'm willing to make the drive to pick it up. I will also be at Bridge Day, so i'm sure many of you will be doing both. Anyone want a few bucks for a little space in their car? HOOK A BROTHER UP!

Yes it is most likely a two prussiks. You need a little gear and a little knowledge to do this. Not very hard at all. If you want to make it easy, get ascenders. But they are expensive and you wont use them that much. Prussiking up your lines? Not likely. You will need a harness loop and a footloop. stand up on the foot, slide your harness up, sit down, slide your foot up and repeat. No way you can do this with rig. What would you tie the prussik with? a prussik is typically 4mm rope going around 10 or 11 mm rope. lines are very thin, and you need a thinner "string" to prussik with. that was a longass answer! Hey man, just cut it and eat it! DIRT! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Hey man, good luck with the job situation. I remember going there, quite a neat place. The bridges are awesome! I remember going to the shipyards in South Africa as a kid, seeing a sub - saying, WOW! I didn't know south africa has a sub! Then in Norfolk I drove by like 9 nuclear subs and some kickass huge Aircraft carriers. It blows you away. I hope I don't piss of the government! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Hhaha, I def. wanna see it asap. I saw the preview about a liger... then talked to a friend about the whole thing. Whats that? A liger, its prolly my fav. animal. Its a cross between a lion and a tiger... then she responded... I've seen those! Their awesome! I grew up in South Africa, so I told her this whole made up story about how I saw a liger attack an old lady, and she went on to tell me all kinds of details about "ligers" and how vicious they are. HAHAHA, it was hilarious! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

thats great, I used some of those. Thanx! Now... "Paradise and catastrophe go hand in hand." - Explain how this comment rings true for people living in the following locations along (and at the center of ) the Ring of Fire: San Francisco; Hawaii; and Japan. For each location, describe how it is a paradise for the people, and describe the possible catastrophes that threaten their lives and homes. I can do Hawaii and Japan, but San Franciso is hard. Didn't they get demolished be earthquakes? What good is it to them? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

List three specific types of natural resources that are created by active volcanism along the Ring of Fire. Describe each in terms of how it is formed, and how it is used by the people living in the region. Where in the hell do I find this? If you know anything about it, let me know, its due in 2 hrs --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Thats an awesome idea....howd u come up with that? Reminds me of one my brother told me about. Take a loaf of bread and hollow it out. Then take a bag of chips and fill it up. Put it all back in the bag and then into a shopping bag. Take a car and run over it a few times. MMMMmmmm....yummy. (Especially salt and vinegar) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Ok i get it, but wouldn't you look DOWN if you saw someone jump out of a window? Why look to your right? He's not gonna run around the corner on that little windowsill! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

How about this one I invented being a raftguide. Quick lunches that are inexpensive, my favorite was tortillas with peanut butter. Make a PB Burrito! Or if you leave them out for a while they become nice and crusty. Excellent for dipping in your coffee early in the morning. You can put anything on a tortilla, I love 'em and eat it every day. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

HAHAHA, apologies.... seems like i'm the one who needed to be educated! Younayted Steytz of a Merikka....AHAHAHAH (as a sidenote...that is the bad thing about being in america...I love it when the local channel has their international section...all about Iraq, maybe a little bit about terrorists in russia. THATS IT. Their international coverage SUCKS! But that is another argument that belongs in speakers corner). --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
