I also don't read, listen or watch too much news anymore...no sense in agrivating myself by listening to someone interepret worldly events in their own way.. BUT...an interesting question that I wondered about.... Why, when the US blames Iraq for links with terrorism and al-qaida, don't they attack Saudi Arabia? There is a lot of proof available that the Saudi's are active with hosting terrorists/al-qaida. (the gov. might be on the US side, but the point stands, they are clear and present). So is the US simply being hypocrytical to keep gas prices down? So it is not a problem to then register and go do my first BASE jump this BD. The choice between water and the LZ, is purely on what is safer. I don't care about being uncomfortable and cold, if it is that much safer, I would much rather do the water. Going for the LZ would be too risky at this point (IMO). Next Question then.... What canopy would I jump? Who do I need to talk to? I see they do have a few for rent? AN interesting issue... Most Americans realize we are at war, are mad that people are dying, but how many have actually changed their lives because of it? Think about the old days when war killed THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS...in their hometowns...their houses burnt....food burnt and gone...etc.etc. IT is STILL happening, just not in the U.S. Americans aren't eperiencing it. Its very easy for us to sit here and say..."I know there is a War... I don't want people to die" and not really be realistic. I think it is great that America can fight a war and lose by far the minority of lives... and do so trying (in most cases) to save the innocent lives of the people they are fighting. Bless America for that. But face it, people are going to die in a war (many think we need to have a deathless war...I think this clip put me more in touch with reality...with what is going on miles away from here. Let that clip make you thankful that that was not YOUR street. One last thing... I find it interesting that America went to war to "liberate the Iraqis". (one of the supposed motives) That means we went for their sake. Now...many can tell me how many americans died, and many focus on that... but shouldn't we be equally concerned then about the lives of the Iraqis? Do YOU know how many Iraqi's have died? few do. Thanks for that clip. It made me realize what others are going through so that I can sit at home safely typing on my computer. I might as well ask here and get flamed. Bridge day is the third saturday in october - its june now. If I register, I dont know if I will have enough jumps, but I might. They only require 50 - i'm there. So should I register, and if I end up with 80 jumps by then (I dont know about finances right now), can I still jump and be safe? You all see my question - its basically a question of reality (safety) vs. enthusiasm. It would be dissapointing, but maybe wiser to just wait another year, just spend this year volunteering at the exit point. What do you all think? I've worked out a series of equations that will lead to an accurate answer here: T = D/V Where: T = Time D = Distance V = Velocity (in this case, scalar) Therefore, we can determine the length of each contestant's race by creating the following equation: T = (D/V) + (D/V) Where: each parenthetical value represents a race segment. Therefore, if Jack is in a race with 10 mile segments, his equation would read: T = (10Mi / 30MPH) + (10Mi / 10MPH) Sandy's equation for the same race would read: T = 2(10Mi / 20MPH) We can determine what race length is necessary to produce a tie by setting Sandy's equation and Jack's equation equal to one another, and then solving for the missing distance value: (D / 30MPH) + (D / 10MPH) = 2(D / 20 MPH) Solve for D and you have the length of race necessary to produce a tie.
