AHHAAH I dont agree though. I'll be truthful here. I'm not American, and dont think that I can ever fully be one in my heart. I grew up in South Africa, lived in Australia, and then moved to the US. In Australia I was the foreigner kid, along with a lot of others. I was never accepted to be australian, even with my citizenship there. I came to America, not very excited, I didnt want to get the accent and be known as American. But that is unavoidable. I noticed something in my three years here. America is a very priveliged country - that is why people want to come here. Opportunites are endless. The average american is very friendly and welcoming. (I thought it would be much different). I would be accepted here as an american without even having a greencard. American foreign policies and behavior - as viewed from the outside - is very unsettling and arrogant. America, as a whole, is seen as a giant beast, pushing its way without thought. People do not like association with this (including me) Americans, though friendly, can be very ignorant as well as arrogant. My first day in school here, we were talking about foreign policy in history class. Someone said, screw it, if they dont agree, nuke 'em! Even though it was a joke, that symbolizes the attitude, and it made me VERY MAD. There are two sides to this. Americans and America can be a great country and a great people, which I apreciate very much. But as a major power, America and Americans can be the most arrogant and ignorant dickheads alive. This is such a huge country, with an incredible cross section of people. It cannot be viewed as one people with one opinion. People try to do that, and judge it that way. Impossible. America is the greatest! (as well as the worst) There you have it

The Red river gorge is about an hours drive out of Lexington KY, so it's a long drive for you all. Maybe a weekend's worth, camping out one night, stopping by SGC another day or something. I dont quite understand what the guy said "the right reasons" are? Why do I jump? to have fun with a bunch of cool people, why else? I have no alternate reasons. Sounds like he is talking a bunch of BS to avoid being accused of beign too scared to jump by his own will. (When someone tells me they are too scared to skydive, i never laugh or make them look smaller than myself. I have seen people do it, and I think thats retarded. My parents once took us on a vacation like that, for me it was great! Haha, i getcha... I have had the same. People look down on you for only having a few jumps. But then you also get people who encourage you a lot and jump with you. THere is nothing more encouraging in the world to me than an experienced person spending his money to jump with me. That means a lot. So look at both ends and be happy mate! ANother bother is that it is very easy to become egotistical as a "skydiver" in the "non-jumper" world. People are sometimes amazed and cannot quit asking q's. Others think you are the man, and some girls all of a sudden start liking you when they find out you SKYDIVE! Then you get to the DZ, and you are the little guy again. Its humbling, and it is goods that way. Thats what we all need. Tak your revenge by jumping a lot, and being nice to lowtimers when you are the experienced one! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

I will be traveling from Lexington, KY. Greyhound will cost me $136 one way, a day, and 10 hours. The time and inconvienence doesn't bother me too much, but if it is at that price, one way, i can't do it unfortunately. Hope anyone can help me out on this one. I have a friend who lives in rural mexico, who wants me to visit. He is currently in Illinois, traveling by train to Texas on the 4th or 5th. I have to meet him if I want to go with him. I dont have much money, and want the cheapest, even if it is very uncomfortable, way to get down there. What do you all think will work?
