  1. Why is the solar system in a disk shape and not randomly thrown around the sun?? And why are all the planet's orbits nearly circular? I know that the gas and crap collects, gravitating towards each other, and then spinning fast around each other. And this is ho wa star is created right? But why in a flat disk? I know there is probably a site with the answers. Just tell me and i'll shut up and won't annoy you anymore.
  2. I tried Dos Equis the other night and it was pretty good. Sammy stil beats it though. And on the right night, guinness beats sammy. but you all were talking about the lime.....check this out.... http://dosxx.com/dos_about/dos_about_serving.htm and would you still call it mexican even though it is a german recipe made with American ingredients? (except for the water maybe!) (jk) I was talking to one of my friends, she claimed she likes beer, but she dislikes lagers. The funny thing was that she had a budweiser in her hand, and later drank one of my dos's. Well, what can i say, I didn't know the difference a month ago either. and this...is budweiser and miller actually watered down like some claim, or is it simply a lighter beer? or is that what makes a lighter beer? (more water that is) and...why do you want a head on the beer? Why would guinness go so far as to invent the little widget to produce it's head? You can't drink the head, kinds inhale it if you wnat i guess...I'd rather just drink the beer without a head... please explain.... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  3. I will be talking to a lot of people, keeping in mind the advice I received here. Thanks to all! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  4. I see. So I wait for my citizenship, receive it sometime in the next few years, in which time I finish college. Is this a problem and will i still be able to continue on like everyone else? Is the rules thus the same for ANG, Navy, Army, Coast Guard and Marines? Also on the side, is there any careers in the intellegence field that my multinational background would be an advantage rather than a drawback? (this is probably not the case) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  5. My mistake, let me clarify. I have been in the US for 4 years now, have had my greencard for 1.5 now (citizenship pending), with my parents, brother and sister in the same boat. I have heard many times that this is not a problem, and they (the gov) will actually speed up the process to make you a citizen if you so choose (to join certain parts of the military). (or... growing up in South Africa, I guess I could always pursue that option!!!) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  6. I might as well ask out loud, since there is a lot of people here from all over that can give me all kinds of feedback. Like most of us, I have always dreamed of flying, and I am now looking at my options as a pilot in the military. (I do plan on finishing my degree, which luckily in America is preferred) From what I have heard, Air Force is the easy way to go, Army is the tough way. Army has choppers though, which would by much more fun, but then again, chopper hours aren't as valuable as C-130 hours when looking at an airline job later in life. Also, I am an Australian citizen, which I believe I will have to forfeit when entering the military. If anyone knows anything about the RAAF's pilot programs, please let me know, since I am considering it as well. If I join the American Military, what is my chances of being deployed overseas for how long? (Not that this bothers me). Also, how is room for advancement? And another - anyone that can tell me about Special Forces and flying for them, that would be great. What would you do? What did you do? Why? Did you make good or bad choices? are you happy with your choices? Thanks all.....
  7. yeah, thats right....Happy New Year to you all.. May you accumalte copius valuable skydives over the next year! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  8. Hey man! nah,jk , I didn't clarify...I didn't opt for Corona, I was simply enquiring. Around here, people seem to think it is an expensive beer, therefore it is good and apreciated by some. I simply wanted to see if this was the general approach, why or why not. Now I know...thanks... I'll go to the store and see what microbrewery stuff they got. And.. another.... What is the main taste difference between ale and lager? Also, what makes the difference between light and dark? And how is the taste differenct there? is dark simply a little more bitter or what? Also, what abt. Bottles vs. cans? Why is cans only for cheap beer? Thanks in advance for answering a ignorant drinkers q's.
  9. I'm starting to broaden my horizons in beer a little, shying away from MGD and Bud. I want to taste all the good beers out there and not just consume copius amounts to achieve the desired affect... SO.... From a discussion with a friend... Why put lime in a Corona? Why is it the onlu beer that you do this with? Also, out here in KY it is an expensive beer, bu he said someone told him it is a cheep beer elsewhere, not worth much at all. T/F? And... give me a good suggestion for tonight... I tried Sam Adams the other night, quite liked it. So far I have only had a lot of Bud, MGD and the usuals of course, excluding Heineken. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  10. yeah, that makes sense.... here is an interesting article I found the other day... We already know that Wal-Mart is the biggest retailer. (If it were an independent nation, it would be China's eighth-largest trading partner.) We also know that it is maniacal about low prices. (Some economists say it has single-handedly cut inflation by 1 percent in recent years, saving consumers billions of dollars annually.) We know that its labor practices have come under attack. (It charges its workers so much for health insurance that about one-third of them do not have it.) The rest can be found at..... http://www.dsausa.org/lowwage/walmart/2004/Wal-Mart%20a%20Nation%20Unto%20Itself.html Its a good and interesting read --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  11. Sure, but it's not GREAT like many say. It's simply a cool story of someone coming to a realization about his own life. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  12. So how do you stop an oligopoly? the only way is for the government to introduce new laws right? Is that likely? And is this similar to Microsoft's Monopoly in any way? What is the future for Walmart? Infinite expansion? When are they gonna go International? Will they? Now THAT is a lotta questions.... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  13. You know I saw that episode and it just pissed me off. I don't work for Wal-Mart but I can appreciate how the system works. Capitalism is nothing more than Darwinism in it's purist form. You adapt or you die, it's that simple. I find it especially galling that many shopkeepers would rather whine as they close down their business than look at, and learn from, downtowns that have managed to not just survive but thrive after Wal-Mart came to town. -Blind I would like to see how those downtowns did that. Could you give me some examples how anyone can thrive when Wal-mart takes away the customers? I agree with your statement... but also understand the other side. If I could always just sit back and sell my stuff without worrying, and I now had to change and go work my ass off to get customers in my store, I might just close down as well. But...thats how it works...competition... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

  15. Yeah, show me the size of the pic on the shirt, its pretty sweet. I want one.... If you could make it into a sticker i'd take that too --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  16. Just finished watching it... I think it is a good movie, but I dont think it is great. What makes it so great? Did I miss some bigger point? All I got is that the guy found out what it is like to experience emotions, and didn't want to stop. He wanted to live his life regardless of whether it would hurt or it would be happy. But like he told his dad, doing it that way will make it ok, maybe not as happy as he would have been, but ok. Good movie though (I liked the infinite abyss analogy), I now know what I should pop in with the girlfriend next time. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  17. How awesome was this movie. I loved it...HAHAHA.... Bill Murray and Owen Wilson was absolutely hilarious. And Willem Dafoe in tight light blue shorts was the funniest thing Ive seen in a while!! The humor was nonstop stupidity...it was great! The random ideas that these producers threw in is awesome....makes for a great laugh! The animals in the movie is also quite cool, I loved all the unrealistic colorful creations that was in there! the jellyfish that glows becuase of the moonlight.....the guy that constantly plays his guitar.........and the random topless girl....and then they have guns that only shoot every 9th shot strapped on their thighs......and their ship that is set up in the studio...the pirates with a three legged dog...and hahahah....man, i can go forever...hahaahhah I'm going to go see it again FOR SURE....HAHAHAHAH I haven't laughed so hard in a VERY long time! GO SEE IT!! http://lifeaquatic.movies.go.com/main.html and the trailer... http://buenavistapicturesawards.com/main.html?dl=aquatic And by the way.. GO AIR KENTUKCY!!! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  18. Yeah dude, Enjoy. Kinda on in the same humor (which this type is kind anew to me) is Life Aquatic. I loved it and definitely laughed louder than all the other people in the theater. In fact, I think I might start a thread about it..... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  19. I agree that this isn't golf (which is already expensive) and I do want it really bad but... There are also other things in life which is important, like providing for my family and being able to fulfill all my other dreams besides skydiving my ass off. So it is a matter of choosing between different things now so that later I can enjoy all of the activities I wish to engage in fully, not half assed and at the expense of other things such as college funds for my kid. This all off course is self explanatory. Here is a little graph to visualize what I plan. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

  23. Say you jump something illegal, and no one knew or caught you. say the authorities then obtain video of this illegal jump, can they still penalize you for it in any way? jw.... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
  24. op5e gave a real good description. I would just add, and op5e probably knows this, i'm just clearing up any possible confusion. Traversing - is climbing sideways. It could be that you traverse in the gym to warm up, or you could traverse on a bigwall route. Bouldering is like its name says, bouldering. you climb up short stretches of rock that you can usually top out (climb on top of). This greatly increases power and technique, but if you do it too much it'll kill your endurance. But, Bouldering is great fun! May I ask why you said this? "Don't climb higher than you want to fall and make sure you can climb down what you can get up. At this stage downclimbing is an essential skill." I never really found it a necesarry skill, please explain why you think it is so I can learn to be wiser
  25. I just want to publically thank Jimmy. Thats incredible. This will be the christmas present that made my christmas! THANKS JIMMY!!!! As for the rest of you, I will definitely return...just you wait --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
