THe longer I live here the more I see how the U.S. today is COMPLETELY different from how the founding fathers would have wanted it to be, yet we hold on to their values and ideas as if it is the grounds for our thoughts today. This series shows how inventing the enemy is useful in exercising an agenda: http://youneed2see.com/political/57/The_Power_of_Nightmares Why has the government never shrunk - even under republican small government advocates? Politicians love their power - it's all they have, and it is what they are there for. Only a noble politician will give up power - (definitely not a Bush - and many others, he's not alone.) 1. Have an agenda 2. Create an oposing force 3. Paint it as the villian and create a massive marketing plan around it 4. End result = more power More and more I realize how there is enough evidence that pretty much anything a politician says on the news is NOT TRUE. hey, the world has never been perfect, never will be...so it goes... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

How do I write someone's name with an MBA?
bertusgeert replied to bertusgeert's topic in The Bonfire
Ha, too funny. I agree with the general attitude here as well. I am actually hosting a speaker at out Investors Club and was posting flyers and sending emails. I want to generate credibility in order to draw attention to increase attendance. Not really too important, but I was curious and thought i'd ask. Now I know in any case how it is written when and how. (as a note, people, especially in the skydiving world, keep surprising me with their good attitudes and outlooks on life. Skydivers seem to be pretty good at it.) Edit to Add: THANKS! -

Say Joe Smith just got his MBA. Is he now "Joe Smith, MBA" Or is there some punctuation corrections that needs to be made? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! -

I will be getting my Certificate of International Business next Spring in Grenoble, and would like to do some hiking while I am there. Having read the latest copy of "adventure national geographic" where they have an article talking about a hiking trip from slovenia to monaco, it came to mind that I could attempt a part of this. How long would it take me to hike from Chamonix to Monaco? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

"Ok, exactly what I was discussing with a pilot buddy of mine last night. The Decathlon is a two-person, light aircraft with tandem seating. The Decathlon was developed from the basic Citabria design by Bellanca in 1970 and is, though similar in appearance to the latter, a much more capable aerobatic aircraft. Since 1990, Decathlons have been built by American Champion Aircraft (ACA). The Decathlon's wing is a complete redesign of the Citabria's with an airfoil section much better suited to aerobatic flight. The airframe was strengthened for greater G-loading (+6g, -5g), the control forces were reduced, and the oil and fuel systems were designed to allow up to two minutes of inverted flight. The Decathlon’s engine is the more powerful 180 hp (135 kW) Lycoming IO-360 and is fitted with a constant-speed prop. The Decathlon outperforms the Citibria in climb rate, cruise speed, and roll rate, however the elimination of flaps means slightly inferior short-field abilities. The Super Decathlon with an optional speed kit can reach a top speed of 158 knots." I WANT ONE... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

I can't believe that no one knows, so I am BUMPING! Apparently it (the roll rate) wasn't fast enough in this situation: --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

What is the roll rate on a Citabria - i can't find it on google. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Since I have been asking a lot of questions, here is one more: Where do get the actual sand for golf courses? Surely they don't scoop it off the beach... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Yep, it's all about what you want to do. I can say though, no matter if the times are good or bad, as an accountant your services are always needed. No one, not a my music major friends or my engineering friends can give me a reason why: Why does a C note on a guitar sound different from the same C note on a Piano from a trumpet etc.? It's all the same frequency - what is the difrentiating characteristic? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Have been before and have done the main tourist things. Certainly NYC has more than Times Square, Empire Stat bldg. and Ground Zero, Gugenheim, MET, etc. to see? What is of interest beyond the main tourist attractions? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

I want an excel sheet that will update every day by itself. I want 1 column - S&P close value for the day. Is this possible? (I know I can manually go to finance.yahoo.com and look up the historical prices myself, but I want Excel to do it automatically). --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

I have 57 jumps, I just started jumping again after a year and a half hiatus, i left off at 53. Now that I feel comfortable in the air again, I feel myself aimless. The problem is that I jump at a very small DZ. Having seen SGC, Deland, Skydive the Rockies and others, I realize how much faster the learning curve is if you have the right friends. Unfortunately, I don't have the capital to travel every weekend. I am stuck in a place where there are very few people who can jump with me. We do tandems, have a camera man and two students. So what can I do by myself to become a better skydiver? If I want to get into freeflying/freestyle, but i'm happy doing RW for now. (relative to.... ummm.. well.. no one.) So what now? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

As I was watching Dave Barlia on Warren Miller's Cold Fusion, they followed it with a section of a wingsuit jumper somewhere in the Alps. I have seen Robert jumping from the same standalone rock - would this then be where longest freefalls are attained? (Kurt Miller: at the time, 41 seconds) How does terminal wall in Italy compare? and the longest current BASE freefall? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

Every time I discuss something with him and he uses MY pen to write, and then never gives it back after the conversation is over... Fortunately I have another job where we have endless pens...so i take them from there, and I guess he ends up collecting them... I've asked him numerous times...uhh boss, can i have my pen back? he gives it back..but damnit i'm sick of being penless by the end of the day every day... I quickly learned never to take nice pens to work.. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

You are dead on about the college junior part - but i'm econ/finance/int bus. and took two PS classes already, with my third next semester. I have not had a prof that is pro-communism yet. (I was born in South Africa, lived there for 13 yrs. I am now an Australian citizen and have my greencard here.) I am thus basing my opinion on three things - 1- my personal experience, 2 - my formal education and 3 - my informal education. Ever since observing the political turmoil in Southern Africa, the U.S. (capitalistic) and underground communistic influences present in this region, I have been interested in international politics and current events. The truth is that today, more than ever, we are living in a crazy world with world events happening at a pace faster than ever before. World population has doubled in the last 50 years, and we are nearing the earth's carrying capacity. When we look at history, we can observe the equivalent of a soap opera taking place - in times of war and peace - a powerstruggle fueled by immense greed. At this point in time in my life I can see the divide between the average population and the corporatocracy - the richest of the rich who rule the world. These people realize how the world truly works - they make the deals and they start the wars. I have not heard one person who can give me a convincing argument as to why exactly the U.S. wanted to go into Iraq. No one has been able to tell my why Rumsfeld, Powel, Rice, Bush - all of them outright lied to not only the American population, but the world. They had reason. No one knows what it is but them. Capitalism has certainly enabled the U.S. to be extremely powerful and influential and multiple arenas - something that communism was not quite so capable of. But this should not be the judging criteria. Capitalism has also, although in a much more subltle manner, destroyed many lives. I absolutely agree that there is a vast difference between theory and implementation. Adam Smith might have had noble intentions, but he was the father of a vicious, ravenous steamroller. Karl Marx just wanted the borgoise to stop their powerplay and create an equal playing field, but he was the father of and evil and unthinkably cruel governmental system. This happened for one reason only - the incredibly selfish nature of man, let loose on a playground of incredible potential - the potential for the creation of great wealth and a better standard of living, but also the potential for great destruction and downfall. Through reading more and more, whether it be The Economist, Business Weekly, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, or an array of books on my shelf - I am being awakened to the true evils in this world - and I am outraged. I am doing my utmost to educate myself and find the truth - to not be deceived by the myriad of corporations, politicians, executives, and other people who would love to see you complacently deceived. I started this argument for that reason, to gain a perspective of the innocently ignorant as well as the enlightened. I want to learn more - thats why. So keep it coming. *Nope, I will not come back and edit this. I have, and will continue to, say many stupid things on these forums. But i have learned something from almost all of them, and intend to continue doing so. I am learning and growing and it is fun to go back and see how stupid I was once upon a time.
