It really depends how you measure it though - number of college grads? Performance on tests? How? My south african vs. australian vs. american high school experience showed me how horrible elementary, middle and high school education is. Ridiculous. College is another case altogether. But that is not where education starts, you shouldn't take geography in college. Educate them better earlier, and you will see the massive difference. America is a leader in technology. It should re-generate it's own. Educate the young! The others have raised the same view. Here is my thoughts - not research based. The U.S. have to appear to be a fair and just nation that will not open up on just anyone. China seems to be playing "fair" according to the western economy driven world. I also read an interesting article where they talk about the strategies the CHinese are using - published byt he Chinese back in the '90's if I am not mistaken. It is much more than militarily. Economic warfare would be much more effective. This is situation that I am following closely. The relationship between China and the U.S. is very interesting especially as it is developing militarily, economically, but mostly I enjoy gaining insight into people's perceptions. China and the Chinese knows that America has been the leader for a long time, and they are catching up - fast. Americans are just now waking up - at least the ones that read the news. I think Bush going to China is an excellent way for him to raise awareness in our own country. Especially with some goofy pictures!
