There is no "death panel" in any version of the healthcare bill. She needs to take her own advise. She's off in her own world, the "paris hilton" of politics. I think she's ignored by most republicans (people, not politicans). The dems seem to like bringing her up whenever they can, but I wish she'd just go away.

Or, is is because the down side makes them look stupid?

Because when the government deems something "too big to fail" it's essentially a guarantee that they'll try to clean up any mess the company makes. This results in zero perceived risk for the company. If they make some money, then great. If not, the government will always be there to bail them out right? No real downside for them, thus the moral hazard. It's not that hard to figure out. -
Bud Light? I thought they were going to drink beer.

It's called "stimulus". The idea is that we get back more than we put in. And this package actually seems to work (for a change). You mean the idea is that we get what others are forced to put in? You think no one is going to have to pay for this down the line? I'll admit I hope Obama fails. I say this because I don't support giving taxpayer money to failed companies, government takeover of industry, finance, and health care, continuing unnecessary wars, socialism, the viral growth of failed government regulation, wealth redistribution, or any form of "social planning" that seems to be to prevalent within this administration. That being said, stopping that doesn't appear to be the platform of the GOP either. The GOP seems to be "Obama lite". So why such disdain for a party that is similar in everything except name to your own? -
My only complaints about him are that he's much too nice when it comes to politicians, and he's really not a very good speaker. Peter Schiff on the other hand, I'd pay money to see him tear Dodd apart in a debate.

Investment? Hardly. I'd prefer to defend the guy that's spending responsibly and not pissing away money on their own pet projects. It's unfortunate that there are so few of these people in Washington. My judgment was made somewhere shortly after "spread the wealth around". It was confirmed when a cop arresting a guy whom appeared to be breaking into a house became a "racial issue worthy of the president's attention" and 3 members of the black panther party patrolling polling places with weapons and making racial comments towards voters isn't one.

It's this reason that I believe that the majority of government spending should rest with the state & local governments - It's pretty easy to buy a few congressman without people finding out about it, It's alot harder to buy a few congressman in every state.

These "predictions" are coming from people that failed to realize we were falling into a recession in the first place. The few that predicted exactly what is happening now don't think we've seen anything yet. Time will tell. I'm not very optimistic about it. I'm not sure how screwed up the process was, but I do know the courts set a dangerous precedent in the process. For the time being. Time will tell. Not yet. I think it would have. Recent mistakes aren't being forgotten, they're being rewarded. The government is telling people that companies are "too big to fail", which is basically a government backing of the company - which causes people to take risks they wouldn't normally take.

The economy is already plunging into a deep depression, they just threw $700 billion away in the process. And do you really trust anything the government says about their failure destroying the financial system? Government loves crises, even if they have to create them. Look at the Auto Industry - The same people said that if they went into bankruptcy that it would destroy the entire auto industry. Where are we now? They're bankrupt and the US taxpayers are out 20-30 billion dollars.

Spending money you don't have never improves an economic problem.

Pledge of Allegiance in New Mexico schools...

I couldn't agree more. Although, the irony of forcing people to recite the pledge is mildly entertaining. -
Profiling CEOs and Their Sociopathic Paychecks

Except for this part: SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE. Except it doesn't product more jobs, it just moves jobs that were supported by consumer spending to ones supported by government spending. There's no net gain, and probably a loss due to the overhead of government programs, etc.. -
The minimum wage increase will probably take care of that pretty quickly.

So by that same logic is the state subsidizing my prescription drug purchases by not taking sales tax on them? Is the federal government subsidizing my ass because they don't tax me when I take a shit?
-
That's a Klingon name, you realize. Like they have any credibility. Well, the problem with the people that have credibility is that they're all full of shit.
-
Thanks for that. Hilarious, and yet quite sad at the same time.

That does not make my statements false … Yes, it does. Obviously, your OPINION. Show me the income tax that the bottom 40% contributed. I'm curious what percent of the population paid a "negative income tax" (through EITC, etc..).

Just like before I get robbed going of out restaurant the money is mine, but after I get robbed the money is still mine. What's the difference? Free will vs. Force. Tell me, do people pay most taxes by free will or by the threat of force? If you can't recognize the difference between the two, then there's not much anyone can do to make things any clearer.

Raising taxes is one thing, redistribution of wealth is another.

He may be a hypocrite, but it doesn't necessarily mean he betrayed his constituents. I'm sure it will weigh heavily on any re-election chances though. Honestly I have more respect for this guy than most of congress - he willingly put himself in this situation by going to the police as opposed to trying to buy his way out of it or cover it up as many politicians have in the past.
-
Wow. Wouldn't it be cheaper and much, much faster to just get a SSD and set it up with an eSata interface? It'd take 5-6 hours to fill that thing up.

"Nothing" runs on it? So the roughly 10,000 applications available for *BSD & Linux don't run? And Apache, (the most used web server in Netcraft's webserver rankings), doesn't run? http://news.netcraft.com/archives/web_server_survey.html Dude, ease up, I left off the smiley at the end of the sentence.
