1st camera jump experience
adrenalinejunki replied to adrenalinejunki's topic in Photography and Video
A few weeks ago I made my first camera jump. While getting the camera ready and trying to get my gear together I somehow forgot my altimeter. I did have a dytter but what if I had forgot something more important? After listening to everyone telling me NOT to jump a camera with only 140 jumps I did anyways. Sometimes it takes a lil experience like this one to make me see the light. It will be awile before I make anymore jumps with my camera. The only way I will is on low pressure jumps where I have plenty of time to get all my gear together and only a couple freinds IF I even will then. I just wanted to share this with everyone out there who are at about the same level of experience that I am and thinking about spending tons of money to get a camera set up. It's not the danger of snags and things as much as it is the danger of the distraction. I only have 1 camera jump now and it looks like that will be the only one for awile. I do still plan on jumping it every once in a while though. But I should'nt...... __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -
camera mounting inside the box
adrenalinejunki replied to adrenalinejunki's topic in Photography and Video
I have thought of a really good solution. I am going to go buy some acetone tonight and a bunch of styrofoam (spelling) and melt it with the acetone and then mold it into the shape that I need. When it dries out it is hard as a brick and light as a feather and extremely strong also. __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -
camera mounting inside the box

I have a sidewinder helmet that was originally made for a PC110 I think. I just bought a Sony PC109 and it is to small to just fit in there without help. It is accually to short but everything else fits good. Where can I find a bracket to make this fit right? I was thinking about trying to find a good piece of tuff foam to put under it. It would fit nicely like this without any movement I think. Any suggestions? __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -
I am making a road trip to Texas and will be driving thru Memphis, Tn and I would like to make a visit to Mike Mullin's place. Not sure if the drop zone is open thru the week or not but it will be a Monday evening when I roll thru town. I will be going west on I40 and I need directions and a couple people to jump with. I can jump Monday evening "if" I get there in time and also Teusday morning. Blue Uns Brad __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

I bet those guys don't need a table to eat (when they aren't eating cow lips). I wonder if they do that right after they mate thier cattle? __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

Ha ha ha I fixed his ass for him. His bids was already up to almost $3000 with 2 days left on a 3 day listing for a twin turbo kit for an Impala.... __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

Yesterday my Yahoo Messenger and email would'nt let me log in. Kept saying I had the wrong password. I tried to reset my password and all the information had been changed. Today my ebay account got hijacked. Luckily I changed my contact email to my dropzone.com addy. So I log in to check email earlier today and had one from a guy on ebay asking questions about a turbo for a car I was selling on there. So I ran a search on ebay and sure enough some one was selling stuff under my name! They also took over my bestbuy.com account which had my credit card account numbers on there with a huge limit on it. Luckily I have got it all straightened out except for my yahoo accounts. So now I have lost all my friends emails and screen names. Has anyone else on here been the victim of identity theft before? __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

Today was a good day at work. I just found out that since our company lost it's 2 biggest customers some of us have to go to other districts to work. I volunteered to go to Texas. Found out today that I did get Texas but not sure yet which district, either Longview or Bryan. The best part is that I go there and work for 3 weeks and then get a free plane ticket home for a week off with pay. Also found out to that I can trade the ticket to go any wheres else inside the country for the week. So I need some suggestions for some different dz's that are open all week long? Perris and Eloy are probably going to be among the first 2 I take my vacations at. Oh and this is expected to go on for about a year. 3 weeks on and 1 full week off. Some more good news for me is that there is a dz in both towns I was talking about going to to work the 3 weeks. If that was'nt enough good news for me, I got $1.10 on the hour pay raise today.( I work around 75 to 80 hours per week ) $$$$$$! Finally I am the lucky one! Last week I ordered a PC-350 from Best Buy's website. I knew before I bought it that it would be backordered. It also said the estimated shipping date would be December 2. Well today ( Dec 3 ) I got an email from them saying that they "expect" to ship it to me in the next 25 days! There is nothing more frustrating than piss poor customer service. Has anyone else had the same problem getting anything from them? __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

going for coach rating need advice
adrenalinejunki replied to adrenalinejunki's topic in Instructors
Well after all my planning and studying I had some problems making it to Z-hills in time for the class. It is a 14 hour drive one way to get there and with some minor car problems that I had I was forced to stay overnight on the way down. Hopefully I can catch one of the next classes in Febuary. __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -

Well everyone I am leaving at 5 am to go to Z-hills. Wish me luck! __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -
Regarding your experience level...... search this forum. There's lots of talk about # of jumps and camera flying. Jumping a Sidewinder is less treacherous than top mounted cameras which may be more prone to snagging lines, pilot chutes etc. __________________________________________________ That is the reason I bought this helmet.... __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?

Do you know what went in there originally? __________________________________________________ I think it was a Sony PC-10 is what he said it was. What's the worst that can happen?

I just bought a Sidewinder helmet and have no clue about what kind of camera I need to buy for it. Any suggestions? Before you guys point it out. I only have 131 jumps and I don't plan on flying this camera till spring, by then I will have the 200 jumps needed. I just want to get it set up for then. going for coach rating need advice
adrenalinejunki replied to adrenalinejunki's topic in Instructors
The real motivation for me to get the rating is because I remember how hard it was to get the attention of ANYONE who could help me get something signed off on my proficiency card when I was a student, even the parts that don't require a jump. I geuss the deal was "If they don't get paid for it or a free jump then they aren't interested in helping because someone else will." Well I don't want to see anymore students who have been working so hard to get their license have to wait to send in their card because no one knows cloud clearances and won't take the time to look it up and then sign it off when the student tells them what they are. Sorry folks if I am wrong for trying to help someone when it comes to something stupid like that, which is holding them back from an A license. If you still think I am wrong then why not explian to me why you think so????? It is hard for a student to even learn to pack because nobody gets paid for it but I work with them anyways and I sometimes take all evening having them pack with me right there watching ( and a rigger present tee hee). I believe the only true way for them to learn it is to do it and not stand there watching 20 different people all packing thier own rigs and telling them what they are doing and not accually teaching anything. Not to mention that all 20 of them are teaching them to flat pack and PRO pack at the same time and 20 different variations of each. You can't learn much that way, especially when you are a student and don't know anything about what the hell you are looking at. Sorry about going on and on like this but I am tired and what I just read rubbed me the wrong way. Blue Skies __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -

Well I do love to teach people about skydiving. My only problem is that I don't want to teach 10 at once. I can work really well and help people learn better when it is 1 on 1 or even 2 students. Right now I help most of our students learn to pack. They pick it up fast when they aren't fighting to get to where they can see what is going on like pigs on a tit. At the dz's I jump at I really don't have to worry about that because FJC's are few and far in between. Mostly just tandems. But what few students we do have I try to help them in every possible way I can to help them get their A license. __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -

Thanks everyone you have been very helpful. The coarse is in only a couple weeks. I can't wait but I am nervous as hell. The flying skills I have, but it's the classroom part that I hate. I can teach really well when it is one on one or even 2 students but that is my limit. I get all nervous when there is a bunch of people watching me...... One of my problems is that I am having trouble getting to sit in on a FJC. Neither of the 2 dz's I go to have had a FJC when I was'nt working in the past couple months. __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen? -

I was thinking tonight about Bridge Day. There are atleast 400 skydivers show up every year to make a BASE jump. There are even more that just show up to watch. Why the hell don't we put together a boogie the weekend of Bridge Day? Maybe find a host airport somewheres close to the bridge, get a few turbines in there and just have a hell of a good time the Friday before and the weekend of Bridge Day. West Virginia is also a state without a drop zone and this would give everyone a chance to get their West Virginia jump. I think this could be a big event every year. What do you think????? __________________________________________________ What's the worst that can happen?
