  5. Sorry Chris, I wans't implying it was not legal (what you do with your main is your business), I just question why you would want to have the bands more slippery... In my mind, it still does not make sense... If they produce less friction, then it has to increase the chance of line dump (I'm not saying it will cause it, but if 1+1=2, then less friction = the stows are held less) if you keep the other variable of the pack job the same (stow length, band tightness...) Remi
  6. Well Chuck, wont you be the pretty one!!!! LOL

  10. Hi Guys, I once knew how the read these Aviation Wind Weather charts, but my mushy brain has forgotten... EAST MIDLANDS EGNX 04/1150 041150Z 07010KT 030V100 9999 BR SKC 27/15 Q1010= I think I remember the "07010KT" is 70 degrees (ie close to N-E-E), 10 Knots, and the "z" refers to elevation, but can someone resurect my old memories?

  13. I Was There!!! And the damage wasnt to the guy who jumped, it was the "ground crew".... The "RV BASSE" dude spotted a little short, and the whole of his weight ended up on the 1st pair of people trying to catch him! Their heads slammed into each other... OUCH... Damm dagerous sport that BASE stuff....

  15. First, the disclaimer: I am not a AFF instructor. The most important part of the early AFF/PFF is awareness and stability. I sounds like, from you post, you were doing OK on the awareness part. However, you said your arch was not good on the level 4, passed to 5 (so maybe it was not so bad to warrant a repeat). Your level 5 was no great success though..... but you know what: you did pull yourslef. Good job. But you need to solve that position issue before adding any other skills to learn. And your right Kevin: the instructor(s) are there to back you up: its your skydive. My tip (and yea, I know, its cliche...) : RELAX!!!!
  16. I know they rock, but in Canada (and in the US) its kinda standard!!! PS: I think tailgate planes should be standard too... no matter what country
  17. Welcome to the UK !!!! The land where mixer taps (you know, where the hot and cold water come out of the same hole in the kitchen sink) are novel enough to be listed on the fact sheets of houses that are for sale! You're going to London fron CA? (and I bet you though the housing prices in CA where high!) lol But in all seriousness, there are worse places for skydiving... and the more and more I go to Langar, the more and more I am impressed with the quality of the organized loads (did some 7 points 8 ways and 4-5 point 12-15 ways this weekend... not bad in my books for organized loads!) See you around Sangiro! Remi (the Canadian expat!)
  18. LOL... Some people at work convinced me to organize a Tandem outing for them (I was relucntant coz I knew how it usually finishes)... I had about 12 people going " wow.. cool... just tell me when and how" Then the crunch came, i.e. signing up, and all of the suddden: "well, I'm saving for a trailer/trip/college/my cat's funeral and its happens to be the same weekend I'm having a party/wedding/my chest hair waxed" You name it, they said it.... only 2 guys from a different department signed up... good for them, and the other's loss.... Exactly what I expected...
  19. Lets find out... What is your partner? An Whuffo? oooohh the shame!!!!! One of us? it may be cool, but it costs twice as much Partner, whats that????
