Disclaimer: I dont know 3.... But, a CYPRES fire after opening the main, that would mean going low.. and that does not sound at all like 3.. nope.. no way.... Glad to hear you're OK... Remi Muff 914

Pam: of my 2 reserve rides, one was a off-dz landing (it was a iffy spot reserve or not - "manual" GPS spot through industrial haze); and the other, well, I had 14,000 feet to make it back to the DZ! Good spoting is actually more important for the reserve ride then the "uneventfull" jumps. And then, there's round reserves..... Remi Muff 914

not sure about USPA, but for CSPA coaching and instructor ratings, some jumps must be signed by Coach 2 or the likes. Remi Muff 914

Hey 3! dont take it personally, but dont confuse fear with the strong distatste of foul smells.... (and I'm not talking about when the septic tank overflowed last year and made a mess of the entire front lawn! lol) Remi Muff 914

Correction: the mal you described is in deed a horseshoe (main trying to deploy, PC still in pouch) but a horseshoe can be other things: PC caught on leg for exemple. This can happen with both PUD (Pull Out Deployement) or thow-out. Remi Muff 914

dont forget us lazy gits! (damm, thinking about it, it must be 4 or 5 years since I got my rig packed by a packer...) I must say, when going to big boogies and when its really hot, its nice to skip the odd packjob... Remi Muff 914

Yea.. gotta do the Wind tunnel, and get all the latest gear... and a cypres and a pro track... oops.. sorry, need 2 of those and a full face and this and that.... pssssst: if you have too much money, I'll take some! My point: you should get very good instruction locally, wether AFF or S/L (unless Raeford doesnt offer S/L). I would recommend AFF, but S/L is still as valid as it was back then. The biggest deal to learn in AFF/PFF isnt the boxman position (lots of time on the ground in the position will do wonders): its awareness. I seriously doubt that tunnel time would help that. Yes, 15 minutes in a tunnel will help to teach the boxman, but so would 3 x 10 minutes each day for a week in the position on a bean bag .... and thats a lot cheaper... I wouldn't worry about gear purchase until you are pretty much done with the Student thing... Also, DO NOT demo equipment untill you are ready to do so. There is a reason why students jump student-gear... Remi Muff 914

Closing loop: change it when its starts to fray Handles: good idea to do this at the start of the day or weekend: peel off from velcro to make sure the velcro hasnt "set" and is too dificult to peel if needed. Clean the cutaway cables and undo the 3 rings to flex the risers regularly (every couple of months or at least every reserve pack) any other tips? Remi Muff 914
