  1. 2% of the current U.S. national debt is $220,000,000,000. Thats right $220 Billion dollars. That's a hell of a lot of money, and there is no end to defecit spending in sight. I wonder what the interest rate is on that $11,000,000,000,000+ of current U.S. national debt?
  2. You people realize that this happened in the UK right, and not in Saudi Arabia. I think Tom Aiello is right that this is distracting from the real issues including unsustainable government spending. The U.S. Government is financed in a large part by the Saudis, so Obama probably feels the need to keep King Abdullah happy so he keeps buying U.S. Government bonds.
  3. Liberty is one of the inherent rights of man. The law, which allowed slavery, permitted the infringment on the liberty of the slaves. Therefore the liberty of the slaves was limited by the law. The slave owner's contention that the emancipation proclamation and subsequent 13th amendment violated their property rights doesn't hold water since there can exist no right to infringe on the rights of others. There are two important points here to be mentioned: the first is that the government doesn't follow the rules; and the second is that legalized slavery is alive today and increasing. Most notably in the form of economic slavery where every child born in the United States today has more than $36,000 in their share of the current national debt.
  4. Slavery is a violation of the rights of man. Laws are created by the government. Prior to 1865 the law permitted slavery. The 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution limits the government's ability to legalize slavery.
  5. Wow, how quickly we forget. Or maybe you just never knew. But the Jews were not the only target of the Nazis. Other "undesirables" targeted and murdered by the National Socialists included: gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, outspoken journalists, communists, the elderly, mentally ill, handicapped, Catholics, intellectuals, and others.
  6. Government does not provide liberty, they limit it and take it away. *edited for format
  7. Democracy is tyranny by the majority. That is why it is so important to protect the rights of individuals, who are the smallest minorities.
  8. Bureaucracy and the state are inherently inefficient. I can virtually guarantee that either some bureaucrat or union member will find something wrong with this structure, whether or not it is safe and sound. Bureaucrats and unions will see this as a direct threat to their power and cozy positions of not having to compete in a fair market. I have had a job working for the government and others working in a union, and they both had the tendency to make the work drawn out and overly expensive.
  9. A license would constitute a direct infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. Besides, if you think someone who is intent on robbing or killing others will be stopped by the fact that they don't have a license, then you are not grounded in reality. Also, don't forget what happened shortly after the National Socialist Party of Germany required the registration of guns.
  10. I don't remember my "example" involving an earthquake, Bill, or anything else from your fantasy. Good job Bill.
  11. Wendy, are you saying that if crime was non-existent, police should still be paid to fight the non-existent crime? Please explain the logic.
  12. Isn't that what is happening now? Many of the serious crimes go unsolved, while at the same time there is no shortage of police writing tickets for petty bullshit. So if your mother was raped and murdered, do you think the detective working the case should get paid the same whether he is out solving the crime and catching the scumbag, or if he is sitting behind his desk kicking his feet up and eating a donut?
  13. What do you think the problem is? Why do you think violence is a solution to your problems? Do you use violence to get what you want in your everyday life? How does that work for you?
  14. Do you think it is reasonable that the police are paid the same whether they solve crimes and catch criminals or not? Does it make sense that the police get an increase in funding when there is an increase in crime? Does that not create an incentive to not solve crime and not catch criminals, other than the bare minimum to keep their jobs and prevent mass public outrage? I mean if you hired a plumber, would you pay them the same whether they fixed the leak or not? If the leak got worse while they were working on it would you then offer them more money, or instead look for a different plumber? Do you think most people will do the best job possible when they get paid the same with half the effort? *For clarification purposes, I am talking about real crimes; crimes committed against persons and property. Not arbitrary "crimes" that are more like a tax.
  15. The black market exists because of the government regulation of the drug trade.
  16. Wow, government statistics based on government data telling people a favorable outcome. Can't you see the blatant misrepresentation of information?!? The article says CPI is down, but wait a minute, its still at a positive 3.7%. So CPI is actually up! Lets move on to your second link. Wow inflation is down 0.5% for the quarter!! Oh wait its still up over 3% for the year. I bet inflation is up over the lifespan of the New Zealand dollar also. Why don't you prove me wrong!
  17. The things that you exchange your fiat money for.
  18. The truth is that all three of those currencies that you mention are losing value, and they will continue to lose value. It is the future, and history, all fiat money.
  19. I don't want to spend all day cutting and pasting the entire constitution here for ya, so I'll just point a few of the conflicts out. The inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, Article 6, amendments 1, 4, 5, and 8.
  20. It seems worth pointing out that in this era, the US military was basically an impotent force. And one of the key reasons for the Constitution replacing the Articles was a inability to control the peace. Our military contributes to our economic success, albeit at considerable expense. Adam - if you want the benefits of it, you have to pay for it. If you don't, move to Belize. Um, the income tax came about in 1913, after the United States defeated two of the most powerful empires in the World, The Brtish (twice) and the Spanish. How does the military contribute to our economic success? Contrary to popular belief, war and destruction is actually a drain on the economy.
  21. Have you ever heard the expression, "Its better to be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt"? Thanks for playing.
  22. The 16th amendment to the US Constitution, and the IRS, actually conflicts with most other parts of the constitution. So what happens then when the majority votes to take away the property of the wealthy minority, depriving them of their property?
  23. Taxes are nothing more than legalized theft. A person not paying taxes is more like a victim fighting off a mugger. A democracy where the majority has the ability to vote away the rights of minorities is evil and immoral.
  24. So you're telling me that it makes sense for the government to coerce people with the threat of violence to pay taxes in order for the government to protect their rights? I mean the government is violating people's rights in order to get the money they say they are using to protect people's rights? Why don't we just beat people up to get money to pay for their healthcare while we're at it? Is that such a great idea? Because it follows the same logic. The government is spending more money then ever before, and I have fewer rights than at any time in my life. How dumb are you?
