So you didn't answer any of the questions. Not that I was expecting you too. Would you have a problem if I pointed a gun at you and took money from you by force to pay for my medical bills? It is the same thing you are proposing the government does when you want taxes to pay for health care. Taxes are not voluntary as you probably are aware. If you don't pay them, people with guns show up and throw you in jail. So the government uses the threat of men with guns to collect taxes, and you think that is okay if the money is used to pay for somebody elses health care? So you won't mind if I ever meet you, and forcefully take your money, as long as I promise to spend it on health care? Thanks!!!

I highlighted the important part for you Bill. Liberty is the antithesis of forced labor. The general welfare is promoted by maintaining liberty!
-
How is health care a right? What problems do you feel can be justifiably solved through the initiation of force and violence? I know these are some tough questions for you, but I'm hoping you can give me a straight answer instead of the evasiveness and attacks that you responded with earlier.

Darius is advocating force to be used to redistribute wealth, just not his wealth.
-
Yes Darius, most people in the world are living in dire poverty. Your profile lists you as having the disposable income to have made more than 250 skydives, you said earlier that you have $300 a month to spend on health insurance, and you apparently have a computer with internet access. Tom Aiello is correct that health care is not free. What you are seeking is a double standard. You want people that are more wealthy than you to pay for things that you desire, when in reality there are more people in the world less wealthy than you. I will now attach some photos so you can see how people are living in other parts of the world. Unfortunately for you I didn't get any pictures of the children I saw rummaging through garbage looking for something to eat while their mothers crouched in the garbage doing their wash in the dirty canal water.
-
Hey Darius, you are one of the wealthiest people in the world! Why are you advocating and waiting for the government to redistribute your wealth through force? Give away all your possessions now, and live like the majority of the people in the world, in dire poverty! Do you believe that citizenship in a certain country somehow makes you a better person, and therefore more deserving, than everyone else living in the world? Do you know the definition of racism? You are a hypocrite.

I just want to clarify the point I was trying to make. The problem is being forced to pay taxes.
-
Yea right, the government upholds the Constitution .
-
Tom, you shouldn't be surprised at this. If most people don't want to pay taxes, all they have to do is vote to only tax the wealthy minority. Its one of the problems with democracy. In a democracy, the majority has the power to vote away the rights of the minority. Democracy is simply tyranny by the majority!

Obama's spending and the National Debt

I think it shows that the spending is even more out of control than you thought when you originally posted. -
Obama's spending and the National Debt
AdamLanes replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
20 billion times 365 days in a year times 50 years = 365 trillion. If you spend 20 billion a day it would takes less than 2 years to spend 11.5 trillion! -

Check your math. -
Your "fact" is not in the way of my point. Besides, who said that they had only been around for one year?
-
According to usaId's website, their budget is "less than one-half of 1 percent of the federal budget". So less than $15 billion, and somehow you think $5 per person per year is keeping 3,000,000,000 people from starving?!? And because of this blind faith, you just look past and defend the USA federal government's lying, stealing, and overthrowing democratically elected governments? Tom Aiello is correct.
-
USAID is a joke. They say their mission is twofold, "furthering America's foreign policy interests in expanding democracy and free markets while improving the lives of the citizens of the developing world." I guess you didn't read the map from the OP, but America's foreign policy is actually rife with overthrowing and undermining democratically elected governments! The policy of the US Federal Government is the antithesis of free markets; that is why we have a central banking system, a progressive income tax, public education, the FCC, tariffs, subsidies, and tons of regulations, etc, etc. And how do they get the money to do what they do? The government takes it from people by the threat of force and coercion. And who are those citizens in the developing world whose lives are improved? Not the ones who are oppressed, but rather the favored few.

So We Won't "Interfere" with Iran, or Venezuela, but...

It is not okay for government to break or bend the rules. The government should not be able to do anything a private citizen cannot. -
I voted no, because governments pay for this "defense" by forcibly taking money from people. I find that to more accurately fit the description of an offense. I mean if a private individual or group took money from you by force, most people would accurately describe that as aggression and find it offensive. Also an entity that can legally take money from you by force will inevitable find reasons to increase their take. Defense should be provided like any other good and service in the open market, where you can choose how or if your money is spent, and there will be competition for your business ensuring a competitive product, service, or price.

Autopsies suggest Air France jet broke up in sky
AdamLanes replied to AdamLanes's topic in Speakers Corner
I have a hard time imagining bodies that have hit the earth in free fall being described as "intact". What about the scenario where the plane makes a semi-controlled decent into the ocean and is subsequently broken up by a hard landing, waves, and water. Broken arms, legs, and hips, seem relatively minor compared to the catastrophic damage I would expect from a free fall impact. -

Do you agree with this statement: "Typically, if you see intact bodies and multiple fractures — arm, leg, hip fractures — it's a good indicator of a midflight break up," said Frank Ciacco, a former forensic expert at the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. To me it seems the other way around, that you would more likely find intact bodies if people remained with a relatively intact aircraft until impact, as opposed to bodies and pieces of aircraft hitting the water in free fall. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/brazil_plane -
Are you kidding Harvey? This train wreck is just picking up speed on the track to totalitarianism.

And which premise was that? www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3538344#3538344 I am duly noting that you are not to be taken seriously. I'll just add you to the list here.

You are conveniently overlooking the possibility that the Saudis are already spending that money to buy real U.S. assets such as real estate, equipment, and other capital. Look, Bill, I know you are very closed minded; but at some point you have to come to the realization that maybe it isn't a good idea to be trading real capital for pieces of paper with ink designs that can be produced unlimitedly. Here is a short explanation of the problem of trade imbalances in a format you may understand.

Your conclusion is as ridiculous as it is outrageous. Someone was murdered. Okay, so what is the problem? The problem is that murder is a violation of the rights of individuals. Put the guilty party in prison and throw away the key. Why do you wish to punish innocent parties using arbitrary laws and restricting liberty? Yes, gun licensing is an arbitrary law. There are no victims! The problem is that we have too many arbitrary laws on the books already that tie up the criminal justice system, exhausting funds and filling prisons. The solution is to do away with every victimless law so we can afford to keep the real criminals in prison. There are already so many laws on the books that the government can find something to arrest anybody and everybody.
