  1. My tandem IE actually went over scenarios where you may intentionally leave the aircraft with as little as only one connection hooked up. You may not have time to hook up all four connections when the pilot all of a sudden yells "get the fuck out" in an emergency situation, especially when people are behind you.
  2. Base is definitely more dangerous than skydiving. To state otherwise demonstrates a severe lack of knowledge and experience.
  3. That's not a wind sock, just a small flag. Winds could have been light and variable, and chasing a flag can be dangerous. Looks like Rachel could have gotten her legs a little higher, which would have resulted in a much better landing. Does anyone have a link to the Shania Twain tandem?
  4. I like the new sticker. I was getting tired of throwing out the old ones. I mean, how many stickers do you need?
  5. The Gospel according to Mathew: 5:7 Blessed be the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy 5:9 Blessed be the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 5:44 Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have you? Pretty much the antithesis of any justification of war based on the teaching of Jesus. Hey Jim, have you ever read the book The Kingdom of God is Within You, by Leo Tolstoy? I highly recommend it, and think you would enjoy it! It was a major influence on Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.

  7. What do slave owners do to slaves who refused to work?
  8. The constitution is overrated. If your rights are inalienable, why then do you need a constitution?
  9. Really? Its that easy huh?
  10. If people had the option to opt out of government, everyone would eventually take that option.
  11. Hi Don, Okay. Not necessarily, although that can be a voluntary option for you to decide. Another option is to voluntarily buy into a type of insurance preemptively that would pay for solving crimes and capturing criminals. A third option is to take a collection to offer as a reward to anyone that brings the criminal to justice. A fourth option is to collect restitution from a convicted criminal to pay for his crimes and costs. I completely agree. What I don't agree with is the idea that force is necessary to attain these things. Do you think people should be forced to pay disproportionately to what they consume? In your burglary example, who do you want to force to pay?
  12. Isn't the whole idea of government to force other people to pay for the things you want? If not, then why do you need a government? Either you want what the government "provides", or not. If you don't want it, why would you want a government to force you to pay for it? If you do want what is provided, then why don't you pay for it yourself?

  14. If the workers don't like their wages, conditions, hours, benefits, etc, then they are free to look elsewhere for work. Living conditions generally sucked prior to, and during, the industrial revolution for most people. Businessmen and industrialists are not free to abuse employees in the absence of laws or labor unions. There is a natural incentive to treat employees well, in order to keep good employees. Businesses that abuse their employees tend to lose those employees to competition. I was a dues-paying union member for about four years. Today I know better than to pay someone to take away my right to negotiate my own terms of employment.
  15. I wholeheartedly agree. The entire "justice" system in the United States of America is a total disgrace. So much for living in a "free" country.

    Iran

Check out this entertaining and informative Rick Steves video about his travel and the filming of his documentary in Iran: http://fora.tv/2009/01/26/Rick_Steves_A_Perspective_on_Iran The actual documentary can be seen in low quality here I think a better quality video link of the documentary may be found on Hulu here, but I'm having difficulty verifying the link form my location.
  17. I refer you to Mark Twain's Roughing It page 154.
  18. Violence is not the answer. The way to "fight back" against government is non-violent non-cooperation. Violence undermines righteousness. Besides, the government has you hopelessly out gunned anyway, and would crush any violent (popular or not) opposition.
  19. We don't need a new theory of money, especially one that replaces a non-working theory of money with another non-working theory of money.
