woohoo it's a dead heat. I feel like a pollster at the Iowa caucuses right now! Never go to a DZ strip show.

Well, they're called appropriations bills (aka laws), so yes, giving money to the requires passing a law concerning them. It doesn't matter, to me religion and government are like oil and water, they don't or shouldn't mix. Freedom of religion also entails freedom from religion. Grrr, like I said before, ok, give the churches all the money you want, but everybody keep their traps shut when the Church of Satan, or al-Aqsa Muhhamed mosque, or the Church of Benny get their federal grants. "Son, I'll make sure you get off the dope, but you must bow to Benny!" Never go to a DZ strip show.

Sweet, can I incorporate offshore so I don't have to pay taxes too? Never go to a DZ strip show.

Actually, yes, I do. But the constitution is like anything else, open to interpretation. I choose to interpret it differently than you in this case. I do however like the sound of that Benny church.... Donations? Never go to a DZ strip show.

Let's see, first vote was Clinton. Second vote for Gore. Have voted for a Republican (Fred Thompson). My first tandem was under Clinton but I started AFF under Bush, in that respect I personally am definitely better off. Thanks for the advice Shark, I'm sure if I were looking for skydiving info at this moment I would be there. And I do check it regularly (the S & T forum). But right now I'm just killing time lamenting the fact that it may be more than a week before I get to jump again. Besides, I was reading the SIM like a novel last night. I'm getting too far ahead of myself in that respect. Never go to a DZ strip show.

What is it you do exactly? Never go to a DZ strip show.

I know I'm spoiled as it and a KA are the only things I've ever jumped from, but the Otter door seems small to me. I always have to get in this goofy position on exit and i feel like I'm just wedged in that damn door. I'm only 6'1", what gives? Never go to a DZ strip show.

And what would you consider giving money to them to be... disrespecting? This would really be all fine and dandy but you can be damn sure the moment the Church of Satan's Beloved Memory applies for a federal grant to help the homeless then all those "faith" based groups will be in an uproar. And rightfully so, the government has just as much business giving taxpayer $ do a group who loves Jesus as they do giving them to a group who loves Satan. Never go to a DZ strip show.

Less safe and less wealthy was really supposed to be the plain old "no" response Never go to a DZ strip show.

Dude.....psssst....you're about to get your eyes scratched out. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. edit: DOH...too late. I've always liked all the kitties I met. I don't want to kick you kittie, pet yes, kick no. Remember I'm a geeky pacifist dem. I make love not war. But I did make one or two bullies think twice about picking on the geeky kid back in elementary school. But who cares, those days are long gone, and the world is hardly the playground. We're not talking about kicking people in the nuts really, but rahter hitting them with weapons capable of destroying the entire world. But I digress. Never go to a DZ strip show.

Check out the Bill of Rights here: http://memory.loc.gov/const/bor.html Hmm, for those to lazy to click: " Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Note, bold added by me Never go to a DZ strip show.

As the geeky kid on the playground, I take serious offense to this, and if you had them, I would kick you in the nuts. Now, with respect to real world experience... Ahem, when did Bush get that? Yeah, being given an oil company (which he totally failed at) by his daddies buddies, there's something the common man can relate to, right... Never go to a DZ strip show.

You work for him personally, or do you mean Congress gave you several raises? Never go to a DZ strip show.

Not yet, but you've got to start somewhere.... To me, if you want to let people deduct charitable (of any sort, religious or not) donations from taxes, that's all fine and dandy. But giving tax dollars to religious organizations, that's unconstitutional. Never go to a DZ strip show.

It's easy for a godless atheist who can support himself to say that, but if you ever found yourself in need of help would you want your only viable option to be getting that help along with a dose of Jesus as well? Never go to a DZ strip show.
-
I gave you an option for that... I tried to make this poll as fair as possible... Now where are all you liberated Iraqi's?? Never go to a DZ strip show.
-
I'm replying to myself, YAY! Hey, I know it's probably a joke, but if not I'd love to hear from you freshly liberated Iraqi's... How has your life changed since Bush came to power? Never go to a DZ strip show.

That seems to be the typical response concerning post 9/11 events... However, as Wendy pointed out before I got the chance, how do you know? You really think anyone in office at that point wouldn't have gone after Bin Laden (or Afghanistan)? We can't be sure, but it is really a cop out to say well I'm just glad it was him rahter than the other guy. The other guy never had the opportunity to make those decisions and it's not exactly fair for you to decide what he would or would not have done for him. We can however see what Bush has done and it certainly has not been to capture Osama. Never go to a DZ strip show.

cheap date huh? Never go to a DZ strip show.

Hmm, when did they start handing out MDs to idiots? Never go to a DZ strip show.

That's my point exactly. I'm all for space exploration. However, we need to get our priorities straight. And there's plenty to be worrying about here at home. Hell we could have hired more teachers and gone to Mars if Bushie didn't have to give all that money "back" to the top 1/2 of one percent of income earners. Oh and let's not tax dividends too, that way all the people who are fortunate enough to make money just because they already have money can keep more of that money! Never go to a DZ strip show.
-
Are you better off now than you were when Bush took office? Never go to a DZ strip show.
-
Even if we did raise the average salary but rather the number of teachers employed, I'd say it's likely our kiddies might do a little better. Hell, they don't let JMs jump with 30 students at once. Why should a teacher have to teach 45 kids how to read at once? Never go to a DZ strip show.

You gotta have god on your side to fight the axis of evil! Never go to a DZ strip show.

OK, well I definitely won't argue with you on some of these... But somehow I was under the impression that World Wars I and II were somehow underway before we got our asses involved (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think the Revolution exactly counts either, as we weren't invading another country but throwing off the reigns of tyrrany. AS for the Civil war different ballgame altogether. Gulf War I and a couple of other things you mention were police actions brought about by the military actions of other nation-states. When i mentioned the 225 yrs of historical precedent, I was really just talking about times when we went to war in the absence of something to really draw us into it. What did Iraq do (differently) to "draw" us in to GWII? Never go to a DZ strip show.
