this assumes or schools are good enough to get them to that level, which assumes we might spend some money on them, pay some teachers and shizzie like that. but wait, we don't fund those programs, we've got neato missiles and shit to play around with! Yay! Never go to a DZ strip show.

I'm not saying that this should just be forgotten about. But I don't think that's highly likely for the woman. It's just a guess but I'd say most people who kill someone, whether on purpose or accidentally while impaired, probably think about that for the rest of their lives. Do we need a judge or a vindictive family to remind her of this? I don't think so. But that's just my $.02 Never go to a DZ strip show.

hey, they were given the choice, why not? Never go to a DZ strip show.

And your point is? None, other than the fact that I was trying to lean into a discussion with some merit.... Like, are we just gonna give billions of dollars to crackheads... No. Is there some place that our tax dollars could be spent better than sending people to Mars. Probably. To me, I see Bush as a kid in a candy store so to speak. He has no problem throwing money at things that lift off or blow up. However, when it comes to important stuff like education he's all "fiscal conservative". My ass, fiscal idiot is more like it. Yeah but it was a picture of the person she killed. Then SHE has the gall to complain on the picture the family gave her to carry. I personally don't think this was harsh enough punishment, but the nerve of her to complain about the picture. What a biotch. Judy You make a valid point Judy, but this entire scenario begs the question, what is the purpose of the criminal justice system? And for that matter, I'm not intimately familiar with this case, but, it's very much possible that she is very much sorry for what she had done. Drunk driving, and death as a result, is in many cases a very very bad mistake. I'm sure that many of the people here, and many people in general, can think of a time or two when they woke up one morning, look outside and noticed that there car is there and thought, "oh shit, did I really drive last night?" The answer is yes, and the consequences could have been a whole lot worse... Never go to a DZ strip show.

well then that's what's known a rhetorical questions, aka basically pointless Never go to a DZ strip show.

I don't think the real question here is between going to mars or giving money to crackheads. I mean, there are roads that need repaired, teachers that need to be paid, sick people who need care (some of these uninsured people actually work), schools that need to be built, etc, etc. Hell, I'm all for going to Mars but the fact of the matter is that we'll have to get all those future astronauts and engineers from overseas thanks to Bushies every child left behind act... But Dave, if we shift our efforts toward rehabilitation, what ever will we do with all those nice new prisons. Seriously though, this stuff makes me sick. A couple of years ago a young (18) gas station clerk was shot in my hometown by a guy who had recently been released from our county jail (he was in for a previous robbery attempt I believe). Why was he released you ask? The jail was overcrowded with people serving mandatory sentences on drug and alcohol violations... Never go to a DZ strip show.

definitely crazy, probably not effective at anything other than driving this woman crazy and probably driving her to drink even more... possibly effective at giving the victim's family some sense of "revenge" Never go to a DZ strip show.

I'm right there with ya Dave. The answer for people in the US, when it comes to alcohol, other drugs, or even gay sex, has too long been prohibition. And as a consequence, we have seen all of these activities take place under dangerous circumstances. MADD should not be attempting to prohibit or even reduce drinking. Drinking will take place even if we have to return to moonshine stills. The answer if to truly provide readily available and viable alternatives for people to travel safely after having consumed intoxicating substances. Never go to a DZ strip show.

I'm staying away from what this thread has evolved into, i wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I do however have to say that it's freakin hilarious if the ACLU filed anything supporting Limbaugh. It's like feeding the mouth that continually bites you. Never go to a DZ strip show.

I don't think I'd see any canopies from my lock-up. Hey, I wonder if there are any "money planes" we could rob and them jump out of for a quick getaway? Never go to a DZ strip show.

I'm all for global warming personally, if things keep up we'll get rid of a lot of bad apples... Texas, Florida.... Georgia gets an extended coastline and woohoo, I only have an hour drive to the beach. OK, that's too long to wait. Nuke 'em, I think we've got a glass shortage anyway. Never go to a DZ strip show.

After level one my JM told me he had robbed a convenience stor in order to get his first rig. Now I'm not there yet, but plans are afoot... But then I'm thinking, if most convenience stores are like the one's I know, I might not be able to get a complete used rig. Hmm, banks anyone? Maybe that's why the guy's in Point Break had to rob banks, to pay for skydiving. Never go to a DZ strip show.

NES is good to pull out of the closet for about 30 minutes at a time. I think I may have one lying around here somewhere if someone wants it. Never go to a DZ strip show.

I think this is a wonderful statement which you just made jumper. I'm going to try and keep this in mind always as I progress in this sport. Sorry to hear about your friend. Blue skies Benny Never go to a DZ strip show.

The two times which scare me the most are when I'm just sitting around visualizing a jump, and at about 11,000 feet, knowing what's coming to the point at which I'm out the door. After exit everything is fine and dandy. Never go to a DZ strip show.

The first time I ever drove (mind you I was 12 years old) I did exactly as you suggest. Ha, now think of it not only as that car approaching you a 65 mph, but actually at 130 mph. I freefall slower than this. Now, when I exit the plane I have basically two miles to decide what I need to do. I personally take this over a few hundred feet or less in a car. AS for feelings of fear due to reading the incident reports, my suggestion is stop. Never go to a DZ strip show.

I know this is completely off topic, but how is skydiving in Israel anyway? I've been kicking the idea of going back around a bit, would love to jump while there if I do. Never go to a DZ strip show.

QuoteIt seems a likely explanation. Apparently this stuff dates back to the Iran/Iraq war, and wierder things happen in wartime. They still dig up WWI stuff in France, 90 years later. Quote what will absolutely crack me up is when they find the purchase orders for these things signed by Donnie R. himself Never go to a DZ strip show.

I agree with you totally. There is definitely a radical sect in Islam and the Palestinian struggle. I was simply trying to point out that it seems like the sentiment against both American's and Israelis is increasing since the fundamental change in US policy which has become known as the Bush Doctrine. 225 some odd years of not going around starting wars seemed to be working out pretty well for us, but hey, what's 225 yrs of policy precendent good for anyway? I mean, it's a new world and all... Never go to a DZ strip show.

I had sworn I'd stay out of the talkback forums but something just drew me here. I hope this one gentleman's views and trinkets don't skew your view of all arabs Von. Personally, when I was in the middle east for about 6 months back in '98, most of the Arabs I met seemed to have fairly high regard for the US with the exception of a couple a policy disagreements. Of course, we weren't operating under a policy, ahem, doctrine of preemptive invasions at that point either. Oh well, I digress... Never go to a DZ strip show.
