    my two main life philosophies are: 1. without humor i would go insane and 2. you have to be able to rely on yourself ergo, i crack myself up all the damn time. sure, i get a lot of funny looks, and only the occasional giggle, but who cares?! if you are proud of the book then it was a success. what else matters?

    A Confederacy of Dunces wasn't even published until after John Kennedy Toole's death. He died thinking he was a failure, and now it's one of the best books of all time.

    being able to transfer stuff to my computer would be NICE. i'm not honestly sure if i can do it with my current dvr, but i don't think so. and i haven't had the chance to try yet. i've got a 40 hour dvr and about 30 hours of it are taken up by stuff i don't actually watch but want to keep. if i could just put that on my hard drive life would be sweet.

    I think i might have been at that show. i saw them in austin somewhere around 2000. maybe 99, maybe 01, those years are a pretty big blur. but i do remember that they played houston the next night and new orleans after that (not that i followed them or anything). hell, for all i know you might have been the person i tried to swap a beer for a quesadilla with. it might have worked if i had been able to articulate effectively...

    i don't have a tivo, but i do have a dvr (made by scientific atlanta, or something like that) and i LOVE it. don't know what i would do with out it, don't ever want to not have one again. but i rent if from time warner for 6 bucks a month. might be worth it just to buy a tivo and dump the other one.

    just do what my dad did when he caught me eating cigarettes. make him eat a whole carton in one sitting. he'll never want to do it again. btw, if you're dog is big enough you can punch him and he'll never even notice.
