Perfection --- a term that changes with the wind and with who we are in the wind. I don't mind earning trust. I don't mind giving more than I get. I don't really need perfection all the time. I think it's more important to really l-i-k-e someone. We fall in love with a perfect sunset...a perfect skydive...a perfect body, etc. Falling in love is so easy. But really liking who someone is...now that's not so easy. IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! I had this rough day at work..silly me. I was trying to keep an ER running...patients alive and all that stress. Reading this thread has just put my life in perspective. Perhaps we need to list a disclaimer prior to making this a STICKY...something like... do not eat chex mix and drink while reading this thread...spewing contents on screen makes reading more difficult. Awesome reading...thanks to you all~ IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!

And I chime with "yes completely happy" like being totally satisfied...great w/e at Chicks ROCK; perfect friends; superb s-e-x; kids who behaved AND 4 perfect stand-up landings in a row!!!!!!

It's not just about experience... Teaching anything -- requires people skills. You have to be able to communicate an idea to someone who can conceptualize what you need them to do. Yes, it's easier to do so if you have been there yourself. To be coaching...the student must have been cleared for solo jumps...the student has also shown some level of competence at this point. I have low jump numbers...and yet I am close enough to being where they are to understand what it feels like at 40 jumps or 60.... many I have jumped with who have 1000's of jumps don't communicate so well with where I am at. I jump with a friend who has 40 jumps. It's very humbling to think that I have learned as much as I have...and still so much more to go. It doesn't mean I can't recall what happened on the dive and help him. In many aspects, I am helping myself as well. WE learn it together...just in different ways. IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!

Maybe there might be some networking/trading...kind-of thing between RC and skydiving??? Might be worth the effort to live in each other's world. IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!

think this "growing up thing" is mandatory to be a T/M?? I know quite a few who although their age is over 22...not sure the rest of them followed. IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!

Michelle, First, I am not attacking you or your views. Second, I know that mental illness/ treatment is a very important issue to you. I respect that. Third, you wrote Maybe I took this out of context. Fourth, HOw exactly is one to do this??? For those who are expressing their thoughts..about someone who stole and who was caught..who did so with intent (despite cause) how are THEY supposed to not condemn it? Just food for thought... Ok, so I know nothing about JELLO shots..however, thought this recipe might go with them -
Hang on.... We aren't his Mother, Father, Sister or Brother... we are the people who are the victims... If my child were in this situation, I would certainly stand with him/her and help them accept why they are where they are... When is it justified to say that mental illness allows the thief to also be the victim??? If we "allow" his actions to be justified...that he doesn't have to withstand the same punishment as a 'normal' human being, then aren't we (as a society) saying that mental illness allows one the 'positive reinforcement' that should have been negative??? No, mental illness, is not the excuse that buys anyone sympathy or justification. Instead, mental illness, illicits empathy...not excuses. You are right...his friends can stand by him when he must serve his time..and they can help him seek extensive help...it doesnt' allow him to SKIP GO AND COLLECT $200. IF you are going to be Stupid - you better be tough!
