  1. I don't have kids yet, got about ten years or so before I do, but if ANY teacher EVER forces my kid to take a drug without my permission, I will personally smack the dumb bitch across the head. ...hmmmmm 2 points.... first Not all teachers are female ( bitch),,,, nor are they DUMB..... ( BTY have YOU ever dealt with the energy and dynamics of a classroom full of 6 or 7 year olds????).......I didn't think so. 2nd Someone who would slap ANYone "across the head" sounds like a poor candidate for parenting. I'm glad you "don't have kids yet"... and you might consider changing your "personal reaction" options,,, before undertaking the MOST important responsibility of all.... raising a child. I wonder just what you WOULD do.. should you find yourself the parent of such a child......??? answer me THAT...
  2. ... Is this the "Oz" story from the witch's point of view?????? I think I would like that... Past visits to Toronto for stage shows, have always been spectacular.....
  3. What is the "3-chip problem"? I have a VX 1000 and its only problem is its size... I have a TRV-900 and it has a floating iris problem that only manifests itself when shooting on or below level. J I'll second that......The VX-1000 works ok...Never owned a VX 2000 or VX 2001.. but I'd bet they would be ok as well. I think the 3 chip problem first came to light when the trv 900 was released.. It's smaller than the vx... the rough size and shape of the early TRV models.... I thought,,, HEY this smaller camcorder could be the "ticket'..... but I waited before buying one.... Glad i did.. cause "field reports" from people using the 900 were NOT good...... ... Even so... despite it's 'size' the VX 3 chips.. DO have a great carrying handle,,, which allows you to grab and carry a rather heavy helmet setup.... safely and easily....plus the video "ain't bad" LOVE people ...USE things ...... NOT ....... LOVE things ... USE people o[:-)
  4. april 2nd is weeks away.... why not just have your own rigger do the repack....before you leave... then you'll be all set,, when you get there... If you plan to fly AND take your Gear,, AND if it is "out of date"...... you could run into trouble at the airport...,,, "valet reserve repacks ".... deserve extra pay.. ...or arrange to ship it directly to the dz well ahead of time,,, and fit it into the rigger's schedule a week or so before you plan to arrive... then you can ask immediately.... " where can I manifest" ? instead of... "Is my rig done yet"...???? right???
  5. .....most disposers have a side outlet,,, actually an IN-let... which is there to accept a drain hose from a nearby dishwasher...... If it is not in use.... It may allow for some leaking from within the disposer drum... The unit should NOT be " full of " anything,, unless the drain pipe downstream from it has backed up..... Be sure that the 1 and 1/4 inch , or 1 and 1/2 inch drain line is clear... ( can you get to that drain line?? ) ( maybe in the basement?? ) If so,, look for a cleanout plug.. which can be unthreaded to allow for pushing any blockage through....( past where the small line,, enters into a 4" Main drain). or try some suitable drain cleaner... As indicated,,, be sure the power to the unit is off... Most disposers have a snap ring which connects them to the sinks' strainer basket.. rotate that ring,, ( or else maybe the whole unit ) and it will separate from the sink.. Loosen the PVC or Chrome trap connection where it enters the disposer, and if you have enough "slack " in the power wire,,, you can free up the unit to do a better inspection... If the side inlet is leaking,,,, maybe a plug, or a short piece of drain hose with a suitable cap, can be attached to solve the leak....If the body of the unit has loosened,, enough to seep water,,,,, then perhaps some tightening of the hardware which hold the parts of the disposer together can be done... Re seat the unit to the strainer basket on the underside of the sink,, and rotate the snap ring,, to resecure it...
  6. ... what would make me happiest is if he kept the gear and we could go out and skydive together again..... we both started doing video around the same time and he is the first cameraman,, i ever videoed in action..... It was a c182 Dz... and if there was just one tandem student I would pay my slot,,go along ,,,and video the trio... This guy was super good at rear floating on the 182..... ( i'd get outboard on the step) .. As for the gear...I'll do whats right,,, and i think he knows it...( maybe that's why he called ) and while we don't see each other very much anymore,, our past friendship helps me to look out for HIM and his family...and proceed accordingly. If he's happy, I'm happy....If we can help someone acquire a new rig at a reduced cost,,, we will... then it will be a winning situation .... all around...
  7. sunday morning... enjoying coffee and the newspaper when the phone rings.... ....jumping buddy from a while back...... he stopped jumping maybe 3 or 4 years ago.. for a few reasons... anyway.. he says " jimmy i have a rig and assorted gear,, sitting here,, which I'll likely never use again..."..... I have some bills I need to catch up on,,,and so i wanna part with the gear..."... I felt bad to hear that......... so he says.."I have a mirage 2 with under 50 jumps on it...it has a swift+ 145 reserve and a stilletto 150 w/ maybe 400 jumps"..... So I say, " well i would think there would be some interest in that,, i'll ask at the club"." does it have a cypres in it" ? He replied,, " no"... and then said, " I don't want to waste time with advertising it,, or dealing with others... are YOU interested in it....??? I chuckled,,,,thinking of myself under a stilletto 150 !!!! ....and said, "jeeze fred,,,, not for me,, but maybe I can forward it on to others,,, How much you want for it,,,??",,,,, He says,,," gear bag, packing mat, 2 altimeters, helmet, Rig ,, 600 Bucks!!!! "......... I reply, "600 bucks???? whaddaya NUTS"?????!!!!....... " don't be ridiculous!!!! "....each component is worth 600 bucks...."...... He says, " it's worth Nothing,, sitting here in my closet."... So i said,, "Listen man , i'd put up 1000bucks tomorrow,,,,, and then hope for the best... If I can find someone for it,, great.... ( I'd would NOT likely jump it myself).... If It's possible to sell it for more,,, I will look you up then,,, and hopefullly give you another payment of a couple of hundred more,,, at least..."... he says...." no No No.. that's not necessary jmy,,,, you'd be helpin' me out greatly,, with the grand......" " anything else you get is for you...."... ......hmmmmmm so now.. i have mixed feelings... I know this rig is in excellent shape,,, and still of a vintage,, where it could be a great rig for someone,,, only fred isn't around the dz any more,,, has limited contacts,, for selling the gear,,, etc etc... he told me he had left it at a local DZ and the DZO offered him 450 bucks for it... ..... and so he said NO.....anyway.. how should I feel here?? i think I'm helpin' out an old pal... HE Is super fine with the arrangement... and expressed gratitude,, Only I feel like i am getting the better end of this deal..... comments??? feedback??? P S ... No the rig is Not for sale,,,, at least NOT just yet.... ...............jmy o[:-)
