  1. aw geeze Andy........ NOW you're takin' all the fun outta this... before it was just silliness.... and wishful thinking
  2. allowing the lurker.... not so good # 1 no head gear on either the TM or Passenger,,,, while allowing a lurker to come along...not so good # 2... work of the videographer ??? Very Good !!! j t
  3. Nobody is saying you should. You can pledge allegiance to any fucking country/flag/government you want or none at all. A lot of good men died so you could have that right. So quit your fuckin bitchin. Hey. Fuck you. My old man did 300 missions in NAM and I did my own tme. FUCK YOU whoa.....maybe your post should read. "when i got Up this morning.... I had a Bug up my ass." you don't pledge allegiance to ( as you say ) "a F%#@*n corrupt govt." you pledge allegiance to the FLAG.... and to the Republic for which it stands..... as for corrupt..... well maybe this current administration has EARNED itself that label.....and most would NOT disagree with you... that doesn't mean the whole country is FUCKED UP..... to use your terminology....... just certain individuals, in both the public and private sectors... a little respect to those who respond to you, seems to be in order....however. peace... jmy jmy
  4. i don' think it's that easy..... we have paid about 80 % of the tuition and room and board costs for our kids as they attend/ attended college.... But we did avail ourselves of financial aid,,,, student loans for our oldest... ( she's now a successful Soc. Studies teacher in her 3rd year ) There are pages and pages of forms to fill out ( FAFSA ) and we NEVER saw any of the money lent to her, by those loans... ( It goes Directly to the college ) All we got was verification of the amounts owed, the interest rates and the due dates.... Even grants which the kids earned were sent directly to the bursars office...there is no free lunch... It's good that you work, and it's good that you're also a student...you're developing good habits for the future.. Pre owned gear will always be there, if your choices are flexible.... Do what you can to start saving $$$$. or try a conventional loan elsewhere...Part of the problem in this country is when people borrow for something, then realize they got overextended and fail to re pay... College loan defaults are an issue and only cause interest rates for those who DO pay to keep climbing... granted 1,000 bucks is no big deal... but I wouldn't suggest using a 'student loan' to get the funds... sorry... hey !!!200 pack jobs is a thousand bucks..( more, with tips ) .try that good luck... j
  5. Re : the Rig.... Classiflyer.... i think... jay tee
  6. no idea about the plane...sorry... but that picture would make a Great " caption this photo" thread
  7. tom....... much of your worry, must come from the fact that you have been a skydiver for so long... by that i mean, you CAN remember the days BEFORE tandem came along...( and NOT everyone can say that) and so, it's easy to jump ( no pun intended) to the hasty conclusion that tandems are bad... sorry to have to disagree with you pal... but GONE are the days of the 60's and 70's when lifts were cheap, fuel was plentiful and less costly, and DZO's could make more money tossing out 10 or 15 Static lines at 3 grand,,,than they can today..... ( remember the days at Sen Falls, when Howie could put out a whole Beaver Load of 10 static lines, in about 15 minutes?????) THAT allowed all the RW types to get the plane, and go to the screamingly high altitude of 8,500 feet,,, for the rest of the day...
  8. Hc 3 or Hc 5.. seems to me to be the better choice than the PC 1000... and i think you can get the High Def models now, for right around 1,000 bucks... You say,,, a few times.... that you are not currently a cameraperson,,,, yet you HAVE an Optik Illusion...??? How did you come to acquire That?? did you BUY it??? it seems strange to me, to decide on your camera choice based on compatibility to some helmet which you 'have'. shouldn't you choose the Camera FIRST,,, and then find a helmet suitable for IT.??? rather than the other way around... just wonderin' jmy...
  9. waaay to loose backstrap/butt strap No 'trap door ' modification to the harness...\ sloppy diagonals. mis aligned upper clips Next..... jmy a 3914 uspa # 9452
  10. Yeah......... don't you believe me????? i never lie.. . well maybe a little lie.. since they actually live closer to 100 yards away rather than 150 yards... ..and sadly,,, it's not a whole "pack" ,,, just 2 of them.... go to that website in my previous post and you can also learn about the 3 polar bears, the 4 Amur Tigers, the Rhino, the Orangutans, Sea Lions, big cats, eagles, reptiles and birds, who also live there... really.
  11. I Did read the article....... My words were in reply to the use of the term, "surrender"..... I thought that Mr Paul was using the term in a bit of a sarcastic way... I agree with his words and statements the point of my post was to adress the semantics here.... using the word " Surrender" has been attacked as a no-no by this administration.....and so they emphasize the bad connotations of the word in the ever present policy of 'we're the good guys, and they are the bad guys' removal of troops would be a good thing.. i guess we might agree on that... as far as surrendering our freedoms, here at home, giving up our constitutionally protected rights to privacy,,,, No those things can't be surrendered....and our elected officials should NOT establish policy, either openly or behind closed doors ( under the guise, of "classified security procedures"...) which results in the very loss of the personal freedoms of our citizenry... j
  12. why must a removal of troops be labeled as a 'surrender"... it is not..... we keep hearing from this administration, that our 'departure"... is a 'sign of weakness'..... will give the bad guys the idea that we "turned tail and ran".... will "embolden the insurgents"...... .... Our STAYING there, emboldens the local militias, the citizens of the country which we invaded,,,, the natives, who will fight others of a different philosophy even though the others are also natives.....desperation knows no bounds. When that happened HERE 200 + years ago,, those folks were called patriots, and Founding Fathers.. and were immortalized, in our history books... When it happens THERE, we call them radicals and insurgents..... and of course TERRORISTS We go across the world and impose Our will,,, ( or more accurately put,,,, the will of the G W Bush administration ) upon a people who have had a Lousy Life as it was.......thus making their lives far worse than they were under "dictatorship".. and then when they react as anyone who has been assaulted would react.... the White House,, says.... "see,, they hate us and wanna kill us"... well Mr. President.. they may wanna kill YOU.. but they have no beef with me,,,,,, or for the most part,,,, with the millions of US citizens who, provide the tax money which you "brainiacs" in washington , and in your defense department... throw down the drain, day after day, billion after BILLION... Sure,,,, go outside and find a big hornets nest,,, and then instead of leaving it alone,,, or else monitoring it from a distance,,,until it runs it's natural course, and becomes a dead shell of a nest..... Go Ahead and find a big stick and whack it a few times.... really hard.... and see whether or not the hornets are going to swarm out of it and come after you..... Retracting away from a mistake, back stepping a pace or two, removing our dedicated troops from harms way....... that's NOT surrender... that's good common sense.... I think......... jmy
  13. I've had good results with the Nikon D70S it will take a wired remote..... I and another cameraperson at our club both use it. the jack for the remote isn't a "pin type'... rather a 'rectangular' shaped connect... i lengthened the wired remote, spliced in a 6 pin plastic "molex connector" and ran the pendant down the sleeve of my jumpsuit...the splice block, lets me connect and disconnect the helmet from the jumpsuit, and I then stow the connection inside my suit... works good... We also had some success splicing a conceptus tongue switch onto the cable in place of the factory pendant... My buddy uses that set-up. attachments are from the D70S j t
  14. so then the 9 way did complete, as the 'low person' eventually did dock..... nothing wrong with the pic, except the formation is non symetrical... If you had closed on the left leg of the base person with the green and blue stripe, on the main closing flap..... it could have accomplished 3 things..... 1 the formation would be balanced 2 you'd be looking right AT the person whose opening you wanted to capture.... (which by the way you did nicely anyway) 3. the others in the formation would have had a chance to pinpoint YOUR location, just prior to tracking away... i like to jump with RW types who are alert enough to take into account where the Cameraman might be,,, come " time to go..." less experienced types, who might even be well excited by the size of the dive they've just completed, often fail to think about where the camera person is..... and a quick turn, semi agressive track, and trigger happy deployment, could put them and YOU in jeopardy..... might be better to "flirt with the burble" above, than it is to drop down level or get below, just so as to avoid , a sudden "head on " scenario, as people turn and track... jmy
  15. 7 cell..... stabilizers sewn right up against the bottom skin.. Non collapsing pilot chute.... solid white topskin... Pegasus?????? jmy
  16. These African Bush Elephant females live 150 yards away from our house. One was expecting....... in 2005-2006 ,,,, it was noted in the local media that the newborn would weigh between 200 and 300 pounds,,, but sadly the mom lost the infant in the course of delivery..... the entire community was saddened by that... this site......www.senecaparkzoo.org ... provides insight details and statistics about many animals including our elephants...all of whom are literally living "in our back yard"......Apparently adults get up to,, and over 10,000 pounds.....they ARE majestic and fun to watch from up close... good question....interesting answers jimmy... neighbor of the pachyderms
  17. right. someone blew a tire on THEIR Ford Escort... and had a spare... was it one of those Little, "donut spares"????? If your wheels didn't have a lockable Lug nut, AND if they ( the smart, but thieving, Flat Folks ) had a lug wrench...and jack.... could be ?? that they took YOUR wheel and tire, cause it was holding air.?? leaving you with the "baby tire",,,, since those tires look kinda funny on a car... better not drive it over 50 MPH or so......
  18. I wear a camera suit with large wings... Bev suit... front clips for the wings, swoop cords which i wear across my palms and not on my thumbs...My altimeter goes on the left hand first, and then the swoop cords, so that I can easily shed the cords after deployment. I also usually unclip the wings, just after releasing my brakes and stowing my slider...That suit has booties...
  19. good deal..... well done..... what city??? or town???
  20. hahahaha I just visualized,,,, this idea..... The short answer is..... Your pilot chute would fall to the ground,,,,leaving the bridle trailing back up to your pin..... which WOULDN'T Pull!!!!!! .... since the ONLY safe way to do this is while the engine is OFF and the plane is parked on the tarmac!!!!!... OH and a few other other "IFs"...... .... If the owner will LET you walk out there.... !!! hahahahaha If you're thinking about doing this in the Air!?????? then HOW are you going to get out there??? ("far enough out for sure to clear the tail" ) just walk out there??? what about airflow over the wing?? what about your weight,,,, lopsizing the plane??? what about propwash?? are you doing this on a single engine plane???? a twin?????. What about an inadvertant slip, or gear issue??. Not to mention the poor pilot.. who might have to deal with all this "adventure"... hahahahah where's the cameraman gonna be??? Ill be happy to watch ... but if you're gonna do this in the air... keep it down near 3 grand or so.... so we can ALLLLLL see.......
  21. The USA Today is my 'vacation paper' whenever i'm away... or on a trip somewhere I usually look for a copy of that paper... Sometimes the hotels will offer it to guests as a courtesy... I really like the section which includes a news item from each of the 50 states,,,, I find it fun to scan through each state, and see what's happening there.. I always read the editorial page and letters to the editor in any paper... (AND of course Dear ABBY or whoever it is that is dispensing advice to those who have all sorts of questions for them.......sometimes those situations described in those columns make MY life seem awful bland.... by comparison... .. ) Very often readers letters to the editor make lots more sense than what "professional" reporters and editors say...and sometimes they DON'T..... I also like to look at pictures, and most papers now have color..... and not just B & W ... jmy
