too much tunnelflying has the unfortunate side effect of rotator cuff strains & injuries, especially long term.. we all have trouble with our shoulders in fact it's under study right now by some massage therapists & chiropracters... perhaps the same is true of skydiving?????
-
that's cute... I watched part of it and decided that I needn't get attached to another show that makes me cry...I watch too many of those have you every seen Extreme Makeover Home Edition????... I spend half of that show in tears and the other have laughing out loud.. what an awesome show.. I can't ever miss it. glad to know though that there are so many of these heartwarming help shows that we can have our choice

I haven't put the New Jersey tunnel under status pending yet, since they haven't started anything yet, BUT.. there is a large sports complex scheduled to go up called Xanadu and it will contain, amongst other things, a SkyVenture Vertical Wind Tunnel, in the Meadowlands area. However, the governer who signed the 1.3 billion dollar contract for the sports complex stepped down from his position (one month later) and the project is now up in the air. The NY Giants are NOT happy about the new complex.. they want to build a new stadium, but WON'T build it unelss the Xanadu complex promises to be closed on game days. How silly!!! But just another example of the silly red tape that keeps so many tunnels from becoming a reality!!!!!

Eule, you are VERY observant!!!! And you nailed it exactly, it's not really new technology, but it does make a big difference.

fan blades don't tend to make as much noise as props do although I remember something about bearings I think it is that makes the fans loud. all nets sing at high speed, that's what I call it anyway.. we know the SV net is a major source of noise because without it the tunnel is refreshingly quiet the new net has a cable wrapped around it (each strand).. reminds me of the thread on a screw.. works very nicely..although I haven't heard it installed I only know about the testing before hand.

Any skydiver not enjoy their tunnel time?

wait... I'm supposed to look good too while I'm flying???!!! Oh the pressure!! I don't care what I look like when I'm flyin.. in fact, I'm pretty sure I look stupid & silly 100% of the time -

Why do you want to know? -
that should depend on where you are standing.. it should be significantly quieter for spectators and outside observation.. but inside the chamber I'm estimating that it's the same to a bit louder because the sound is being contained & recirculated with the air.

If you are a blogger and are going to be around during JFTC and can spare 5 minutes each morning/early afternoon... please pm me -
I'm fairly certain there is a photo of freeflying in the NZ tunnel on my site... of course
-
I personally feel all operational VWTs are worth counting, and since Freeflight are in contact with me... they are certainly NOT off the radar like some others..
-
Ya know.. I HAD to LOL because your Plan B.. has got me in all the tunnels I have flown except 1 that I actually paid to fly at.. but only once

it's not THAT part that I don't get.. I don't usually get the shows that are so rude... like Jackass, etc.. I mean.. I love a funny show.. and I think out of the 3 episodes I watched I chuckled once.. the rest were astonishingly rude or completely just friggin strange.. you know... like those commercials that leave you wondering what the hell they were about..? that's the office.. I'm baffled as to why it's on TV! too strange.. much better stuff on other channels..
-
I thought it was cute, a little funny.. I LOL a couple of times.. lots better than that OFFICE show.. I JUST DON'T GET THAT ONE!!!

you are correct because JFTC is an organization and TFTC is a fundraiser which donates to JFTC. this whole conversation bothers me.. everyone has worked so hard.. it seems like many people forgot that JFTC is an organization, and therefore like any other has overhead & costs associated with it. This by no means detracts from it's ability to raise awareness & funds with worldwide participation & exposure. Fact is.. if they have brought attention IN ANY WAY to the cause, than of course, in response to the original poster, JFTC is on track. Pink Suits, Dawn Suiter JFTC Webmistress

So... what's it like at SkyVenture Perris?
Bodyflight.Net replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in Wind Tunnels
so there IS the possibility that there won't be another group and we might just get 15 min in a row? I'm just concerned with getting only 1.5 or 2 min bursts of air time.. 3-5 would be much more preferrable.. sounds cool.. look forward to meeting everyone.. we're both excited to tick another tunnel off the list!
