  1. at about 3:52 on the footage is the shot with us ALL in the tunnel.. you guys turning around me in the center.. it LOOKS so cool! It's like a big ol hurricane in the tunnel!!!! Me at the bottom making the 'eye' and the rest of you spinning around... it's just too groovy to watch! Can I tell you my FAVORITE part of the whole thing was flying/driving the obstacle course! I can't get enough of that.. in fact first thing I'm doing when we start testing on Tuesday is putting up some obstacles to fly around! I felt like a racecar driver, very cool!!!
  2. I got the first low res video last night from WindWorX Productions (Shane's Co.) IT'S SO AWESOME!! 4.5 minutes long and it's so cool you won't believe it! I'm waiting on the larger version now about 35mb of finished product! As soon as I have it on my server, I'll post the link here!!!!
  3. Awesome to know about Kyongju!!! Ghost huh? Maybe I could velcro a sheet to my legs and back (sweatpants) and leave it short around the arms... it should flatten out when I sit fly/back fly or belly fly..... but no standup or I'll look like a big blowup balloon!! Yes.. PHOTOS... my NEW camera broke (lens) in Orlando last week, I'll have to buy a replacement ASAP! And thanks for the well wishes on the BOOgie, it'll be alot of fun I'm sure!!! Too bad you aren't coming Andy... as Bodyflight.Net Tunnelrats are paying only $7 per minute!!!
  4. I KNEW you could do it Paige! Thanks so much for inviting us all to be a part of it!
  5. I laughed so silly when I saw that suggestion!! We thought of something like that.. the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man from the movie Ghostbusters!! Hilarious! But I fear the michilin man would have the same problems as Batgirl... limited mobility! Too tight was as in 'not enough flexibility available' not as in 'not enough drag' And you should know that the fire/sparks rule came about JUST FOR YOU! The big ol' nylon net just doesn't seem the right place for a 'burning matchstick'
  6. Do you guess it's the humidity in the air that makes it feel so cold, the lows don't get below like 40 degrees right? I've flown up here in 20 degree weather while it's snowing and it doesn't seem very cold at all... in fact after a few seconds I'm usually sweating. also wondering.. I saw the heaters in there now... is it REALLY that uncomfortale to fly 2.5 min rotations in the cold air even with heaters around to warm up?
  7. face makeup will have to be at a minimum.. gotta be able to take my goggles on and off, sweat & fly without smudging... I don't HAVE to wear a helmet but it's easier if I plan to... at night in the dark.. the black costume won't be seen very well... but I LOVE the idea!!
  8. a freefly clown would be brighly colored.. I like that.. orange sweathshirt.. white sweats, big red shoes... wonder if I can attach a wig to the OUTSIDE of one of my student helmets....
  9. There already is a tunnel rat coming, costume & all... he Mar, what would you suggest for costume ideas... I could perhaps wear a cut sheet over some white sweats... hmmm...how would I cut it... what could I embelish with..
  10. I need costume ideas...who better to ask than those who fly!!
  11. excellent tip I'd say... can I also add... when I need more lift (or to fall slower) I pull my knees in together a bit more as to create a larger surface... to fall faster (loose lift) I spread them farther apart.. disclaimer: I'm not a very experienced skydiver but I do have a couple thousand minutes flyin'
  12. You are right, and I'm very PROUD!
  13. Your doin pretty well here holding your own... I'm impressed!
  14. I have an 8.5' round bed.... No night tables, no headboard...nuthin fits...
  15. Hey Sid.. When I moved out to the country a year ago.. I tried dial up again after being a faithful cable subscriber for years. That lasted about 10 days before I gave up and had guys on my roof installing way to expensive equipment... besides every access number being long distance the connection was UNBEARABLE for working online, as we both do. My biz money covers the price nicely for me so it was a no brainer to try. DirecWay is awesome here! MOST of the time I'm running above 128kbps and it works well 98% of the time. I guess I could run through my control system to give you all my stats but that probably won't help you... There are mountains & trees in the way, the sky is forever cloudy here in this rainforest I live in, but still great signal almost always. It sounds like your system is not working right obviously (I'm sorry I know how awful that can be) but if you can get someone out to it, I would definitely try that first. Don't give up... cuz when it finally DOES work for you, you'll be flying through.. ALTHOUGH... it's not great for large uploads... I have had success only with up to say 45mb files.. larger than that it's a pain and may crap out. But mostly I can keep uploads below that size and if it really is that big, I might just have the sender upload it directly. With root access of course I can upload zipped files and unzip directly on the server too.. which helps. Thanks to DirecWay, I did not have to change careers cuz I bought a house in the country! It's been 1 year since I signed up and I would recommend it to anyone... even though the lights on this sizeable modem nearly blind me, in the dark at night, it's like a darn landing strip!!! added: I almost never have to restart my modem or router.. even when the power goes out. Although a couple of times it was running awfully slow and so I did unplug it to see if it would reconnect any faster and it did.
  16. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! I'm sore and achy today but what a fun time we all had!!! We did some pretty cool stuff in there! I watched the video last night when we got home and I'm running a copy off right now. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and participated and cheered us on. Special thanks to lovely Paige for organizing all of this!!!
  17. the amazing part occurs when this doesn't happen! when all the calculations are all correct and the airflow is precicely as it should be... the holy grail of open air vwt engineering!!! magic? maybe a very rare and precious thing, still un-duplicated? Definitely!
  18. it's easier to maintain an air column that is enclosed within walls.. the walls help to 'keep it together'... Ft. Bragg is much more amazing to me, maintaining that quality, dealing with expansion but no loss... much more like the first vwt's ever built... like the 5ft Durand tunnel... from when was it.. the 1800's? added: I was also just thinking that Wright Patt was the MOST amazing VWT... of all... acccomplishing the same thing and with such a WONDERFULLY soft net!!!
  19. Me too!!Me too! dz.com attendance list: Paige, our lovely organizer NeedtoJump, her lovely assistant ...more TFTC'ers here... and bodyflight.net hmmmm, I don't guess I know anyone else's dz.com handles..... somebody help me!!
  20. Paul.. to have that kinda airspeed & quality without wall to wall air... is truly an accomplishement over other tunnels.
  21. from what I understand.. we'd all be hard pressed to find a tunnel better than Bragg... of course the cost was through the roof.. but still... added: some are close I suspect.. each of the 'finer' tunnels have their own endearing qualities which make them the 'best' to each of us
