  1. BOTH of course! If you want a really great TUNNEL EXPERIENCE for your whole family, go to both of them! then you can decide as a group if you liked one more than the other.. Flying in two tunnels in one day is quite an experience and reserved for those who are very fortunate to live near 2! Do it all!
  2. BWAAHAAHHAAHHAAA you KNOW it! and thankyou for the lovely graceful compliment
  3. I know you asked for dudes to reply so I'll be brief.. my very liberal and progressive EX husband thought he would be ok with it too.. and he was.. for a while.. the money is great, the hours are great since you set your own schedule and the travel is good.. not travelling to different clubs makes for a boring stripping career. Unfortunately, the thrill of me being the object of other men's affections simply wore off. It was an ego boost to start, but then was an ego killer. The drugs were easy to say no to for me, I love to dance, and that's why I was there. But it DID make me lazy for real hard work (someone mentioned this)... I'm now way to spoiled to work for little pay!!! New husband was against it, so I quit. I found a new career that allows me to make near the same annually and keep my clothes on... I miss it sometimes.. it WAS a thrill.
  4. I'm not sure how long I'm stayin'... perhaps forever... that'll make me a damn yankee... uh wait.. I didn't come to visit per se... I came chasing after a guy a converted Rebel no less!!!! does that make a difference???
  5. I'd take a pic of mine... but every time I open it something falls out.....
  6. This was kinda interesting for me... I grew up in the Chicago area - 18 years then I moved to Los Angeles and spent 6 years DEPROGRAMMING, making the transition from 'pop' to 'soda' etc.. then I moved to the South.. Tennessee now for about 6 years where I resist the slang best I can! I never knew how to answer!!! since I use ALL of the phrases & words they included, I chose my most common usage, and I think my mama would be proud! 26% Yankee here! and living in Rebel country! Hell fire!
  7. I didn't want to put it on skydivingmovies since the files size is very large for such a short video.. there is only just over a minute of it on here.. not very good footage since we made it years ago.. the original is SOMEWHERE in all the files anyway.. about halfway down the page on the right side in the 2003 WFFC convention area..http://www.bodyflight.net/videos.html It didn't take much convincing to get Don K. to let us do it and the tunnel owners are friends so that was certainly easy.. several of us wanted to try to do it ourselves but apparently we aren't as good as John is We had to wait for all the planes to be put away for the day so it was dark too... but very cool still! Golf carts came from everywhere we had a ton of spectators for it... Gosh... I miss the WFFC.. I'm so glad they've moved up the dates, and now we'll get to go again!
  8. Been there, saw that and shot the video!!! John Suiter (as far as we all know) was the first to fly in a vertical wind tunnel while it was driving along. The tunnel was driven down the runway at the WFFC a couple of years ago.. The video was up on my site for a couple of years, I can repost it if anyone wants to see it again.
  9. why yes of course!!! flyable air is flyable air... open to the public is another story..
  10. If you push flyable air through that thing by Dec. 31st, the US will remain in the lead for the most operation tunnels (by a year end count anyway) My fingers are crossed! Otherwise the headlines will read something like "Europe ties US with operation tunnels..
  11. that is Very Very cool! Yes, thanks for sharing! I love seeing birds in the tunnel, for instance yesterday I rewatched my favorite Discovery special with wind tunnels and birds in flight.. it was great. At AAC in North Carolina buzzards and vultures are often catching lift off of the top of the air column there and it's super cool to fly in the sky with birds around you. Perhaps with time they will be able to rehab the bird well enough to fly with people. After watching a hawk skydiving with his owner, I know a bird can handle a high speed dive at our type of flight speeds!!! Again, AWESOME! edited to add similar article clicky: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/12/01/ngoll01.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/12/01/ixhome.html
  12. Same thing that happens now... either FLY or TUCK AND ROLL my friend
  13. That depends on the tunnel design.. some are one or the other (variable speed drives or variable pitch fans), and occasionally, you'll find both!
  14. I've paid for a little bit of my time, but once I knew it was something I loved, I dove in head first! I trade for almost ALL of my time now, which works well for me.. I spend my days doing things for wind tunnels and when I go visit one, I get to fly a bunch on credit!
  15. Trying to get tickets for our area IMAX too... it'll be the ONLY way to see this one properly! BRILLIANT! BIG fan here... books and movies although the books are so much more the movies are wildly entertaining...
  16. I TOTALLY know! I hardly every fly alone anymore, it's not nearly as fun and so I don't spend alot of time learning new moves, but I do spend alot of time looking into the smiling faces of friends & newcomers! What could be better!
  17. (inspired by Paige's recent post) Just curious really.... I think all tunnel time comes with AT LEAST an instructor in the tunnel but at some places "coaches" cost extra. Do you pay extra for a "coach"?
  18. That's what I thought too, but I also figured, if they were just going to buy a couple of tickets, then no major arrangements need made I guess. I thought it was funny they used a skydiving photo for a VWT prize but hey.. what can you do!
  19. Scotty Carbone of course!
  20. While browsing my own website reports I noticed ALOT of incoming traffic from Logitech's website... here's what I found! http://contest.logitech.com/phonehouse/index.cfm?contentid=65&ad=windstop_cs_Nov05_GBEN&countryid=18&languageid=1 Apparently you can enter to win free tunnel time for you and a friend at any of the European tunnels... contest rules are at the bottom of the page. It's a promotion for the new Windstop headset they have... pretty cool huh? and of course I'm tickled they used my site as a reference too!
  21. There are probably a couple of thousand of us world wide, MAYBE.. and that's with 23+ years of exposure! if you count active online people that number drops to under 1000 I think, from my experience. Over the last 8 years since I started Bodyflight Network, we've tried a wide variety of formats, and although I have had forums and discussion groups active on there in the past, they are just not active enough to become an asset and were mostly filled with adverts, and so have been removed in favor of less active ways of participation. We now provide links to dz.com's wind tunnel form for discussion on every wind tunnel page. You can see here that the activity in this forum is pretty slow and is a great deal of adverts, which is inevitable at this stage of the industry, as more promotion is needed! Today we see & hear from as many people overseas as we do in the states, that certainly has been a recent trend in the last 3 years. So while business is picking up, I think it will still be a few years before I at least see the growth that I'm looking for. I'm a 'pure' tunnelflyer, as you called it and I love the sport... I have dedicated myself to promoting it and everything about it.
  22. Does EVERYBODY here pay for coaching??? (perhaps that's another poll
  23. I'm unable to imagine the scenario your describing... could you go into more depth? I can't imagine 'hangin' from my arms in the position I sit fly in... well.. nothing else has helped me as well as the actual flying...
  24. It took me a while to build up my arms for sit flying, now I can do 2 hours in a day no problem. I don't have any advice other than keep flying.. thing I noticed personally is, it doesn't matter how much I work out with weights etc, it doesn't make much difference, as the stress & strength needed to sit fly are very different and I don't think can be trained for doing anything but flying. Smaller sessions is a start which will give your muscles time to recoup between sessions... Have patience & keep flying!
