Sure does dye your skin and hair nicely though... John spent some time in multicolored smoke several dozen cans for the filiming of the movie Body Flight some years ago in a portable in Tampa... didn't do much to the tunnel The video is hilarious if you haven't seen it... he's flying.. looking cool all stable for the shot.. next thing he's plugging his nose, waiving the air around in front of his face, twisting it up cuz of the smell etc!! Very funny..!! We've been looking for the GOOD smoke bombs for a while, they are difficult to find!!!!!

2 days to go Mary.... c'mon clean it up and turn it ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the air is already perfect I'm SURE!
-
only minutes left till the new year (ok quite a few minutes but still MINUTES) will you turn it on? I'm losing hope!!!! btw WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG! I've never seen one go so slow after being assembled! by one I mean, one of those from that manufacturer (no names, no clickys SO MUCH easier)
-
No it doesn't matter... in the beginning, choosing which tunnel to go to is as simple as picking the one closest to you and budgeting enough flight money for about 30 minutes if not more over a couple of days. They are all suitable for teaching you how to fly your body... I passed AFF in 4 jumps with only a small amount of tunnel time and having never been in a 'high speed' or 'state of the art' wind tunnel... later though, after your hooked or when you have a specific GOAL in mind for your time, then you'll choose the tunnel that best suits your needs, big way practice bigger tunnel, freefly practice faster tunnel, general flying any tunnel probably choose closest or cheapest... you'll know later which one you need.. for now.. go fly and have fun!

Awww! Me too! But your here now! Sad fact is most of the portables just don't STAY working!! Ya know, deisel engines weren't meant for this application and props were CERTAINLY not built to lay horizontally and this adds such wear and tear and until John helped the gearbox company redesign them, they just couldn't keep them cool enough so overheating was a BIG issue in the past and was the cause of nearly 90% of the 'deaths' Now days there is only a couple of functioning portables.. Lifted Entertainment (formerly Xtreme Air) is operating in Hawaii but has kinda setup residence at Dillingham Air Field.. although they'll move for the right price, a daily rental for any portable is at least 5k! Then we have the 'worst' tunnel according to everyone's reviews.. VR Skydiving which is in desperate need of retrofit for purposeful practice even for us tunnelrat types... but it's on the college tour in the East/South East that used to belong to Lifted!!!! Adren-L-N is down for the count... so that's not available anymore same thing with Powerflyte, Freeflight, there are two under construction but I can't say much more than that for now other than I suspect it will still be a WHILE before they are operating... In europe there are a couple, Airpower Arena has a portable tunnel and then there's Body-Flight in France, both slow but look like fun. So Jeremy if your still searching for a place to flyboard... AAC will take ya any day of the week! So will PF Flyaway I'm sure so come on down and show us how it's done in BOTH tunnels! Hope that helps!! Paige.... you ROCK!

how much flight time I get for the money.. none of the rest matter to me at least.. and if there is restrictions on how many people can share a block of time, well, I frown on that. I figure if 15 of us want to share 15 minutes than we should be able to... with 4-6 of us in there at a time, that's PLENTY to go around and makes it very affordable!

OMG, I'M SO BLUSHING!!!! thank you, I do try hard and work on it every day We're celebrating 7 YEARS this year! VERY EXCITING!

AWESOME!!! Shane and I were wondering if you got to fly there while you were in NZ!!! EXCELLENT really and glad to know more about it!!! Now if only I could get you to submit a review at my site.... or permission to reprint your post over there......

Hi Jeremy, All the Flyaways have allowed it, plus most of the outdoor portables have in the past.. heck Flyaway has even flown a KAYAK!!! I know 3 who tunnel board.. none too regularly though as it really is difficult and limiting as I understand it The outdoor tunnel in North Carolina allows it (and are even going to get a few to keep in stock I've heard!) as I'm sure would Lifted in Hawaii, both Flyaways, and most all the portables still.

(mental note to self: Mary likes Starbucks and accepts bribes.. end note)

How about the convenience factor.. that certainly plays on it for me... for instance, if I would like to fly for 30 minutes, it would take me a whole week of dedicated jumping, as opposed to an hour at the tunnel.. I'd guess some indoor climbers do it for the same reason.. quicker than taking the trek out to whatever location to get oriented, find a buddy to go with, plan your route etc like you said.. just to climb for a little while... I'm guessing in the amount of time they would've spent driving to a location to climb au natural.. they could've already been done at the gym! And Phree... with the right advertising and proper publicity.. there should be no reason that there aren't a COUPLE of VWTs in every majorly populated state in the US and country overseas! One tunnel can only fly so many people a day.. a really good day for a tunnel would be only 150 flights! That's not that many really.....especially if it becomes affordable.

11 days left till the end of the year.... will you make it... will the first flight happen??????????????? c'mon we're pullin' for you over here...

If we have 40K tunnel flyers that go regularly to VWTs for the purpose of flying just cuz, I think I'd keel over from shock! I think that would be great.. but since there is less than (I'm totally guessing) a few hundred of us accumulated in the last 23+ years, I can't see it growing so much so quickly, but every industry needs a boom.. we're certainly due. On topic (which was an old post anyway I think) I sure hope that SKYDIVERS are a passing fad for Vertical Wind Tunnels... I think we'll do alot better and get ALOT more participation if it wasn't associated with such an extreme sport as jumping! I'm the first one on the other side of the argument, I don't think tunnel flying is extreme.. you could MAKE it that way if you wanted, but generally speaking I think it's slow and gentle and since it's open to everyone, certainly not too extreme.. how can babies be extreme??? So once more tunnel owners spend their dollars in adverts to the general public we'll be off and running toward that 40K people number... but for now, alot of them are focused on getting those jumpers in there and buying blocks. That is completely understandable after all... since skydivers have the bucks and are already willing to spend it on this.. they require less convincing! Once VWTs get down to the $400-$500 per hour rate that I think they SHOULD be charging.. more and more people will learn to fly for sure. Once tunnel owners stop calling it indoor skydiving, I think that more people will want to learn to fly. I see more skateboarders get hurt than a tunnel could ever hurt, however parents think of skateboarding as generally safe while indoor skydiving raises an eyebrow for sure! Then comes the price... $10 per minute (at a good rate) FORGET IT! For those on vacation they are prepared to spend too much on fun & entertainment.. but for those who happen to live near one, on a normal spending budget I just don't see it as affordable yet. And even when it is.. if we don't spin it another way other than indoor skydiving.. we're not likely to ever see participation greater than the skydiving industry has! Now.. thank goodness in the last couple of years there have popped up quite a few tunnel only resources online and in print... I can't think of one of these that spins it as indoor skydiving OTHER than to gain the keyword recognition necessary to be pulled up via search engines. Most prefer to call it tunnel flying, tunneling, bodyflying, body flight etc.. I see why 20+ years ago Flyaway called it indoor skydiving.. as a pioneer in the industry Flyaway had to quickly grasp on to any trends that were current.. and skydiving was becoming all the rage then... but now? With so many out there... why does this trend keep going!?!?! Tunnelflying should be something families go do every wednesday night, like bowling used to be or family game night is now. Family fun, a healthy alternative to sitting around on your BUTS joining the 60% of american's who are morbidly overweight! It's a way of life to me... not some extreme sport.. and if I have my way, millions of people will fly daily just because it's fun.. not because it's associated with skydiving as a training tool.

I do a different theme every year! I used to work at the Incredible Christmas Place here in the Smokies decorating hundreds of trees and I picked up a few handy tricks along the way. I don't like to use nearly as many lights as they do Mostly I choose a color theme each year and buy new ribbon and ornaments to coordinate. My favorite was our blue & silver tree for sure.. This year we went with Red and White Candy Theme.. candy canes & peppermint candies on the ribbon and around the tree! We still have to make the topper, which we'll be making outta sticks, glitter & glue (saw it on Martha last week) and we'll do this week together now that school is out! Check out my holiday decor.. and yes that's a snowman para-pet hangin in the scene! http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/RibbonBow.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/HolidayScene.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/05Tree.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/TreeBow.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/Stockings.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/Garland.jpg

I meant the Ex had the ego boost and then let down.. I guess it feels good at first to have a 'trophy wife'... but after a while... maybe not so much, the idea of all of those men lusting after your woman, just pounded away at his insecurities and made him distrustful & green eyed
