  2. you guys should ALL try flying 35 feet in the air surrounded by sunshine & clouds... mmmmm... nothin better
  3. thank you for so eloquently putting out there EXACTLY what I was thinking
  4. Thanks for the reminder.. I'm one of those "practical" people.. I have limits on the investments we can make into our current home.. but the thing is.. when I priced an inground pool (small one) it cost AS MUCH AS OUR 3bd HOUSE... yes I know I bought an inexpensive house.. (I was grinning all the way to the bank!!!) HOWEVER I can't see spending the same on a pool. Here's the situation.. I live 20 minutes from EVERYTHING.. including friends, town, activities.. mostly the concern is with the kid.. who has 8 lovely years of being bored at home to look ahead to... we don't watch much TV or stuff like that around here. I figure a pool would be 'something to do' and looking at 8 years worth of needing something to do for her.. seemed like a good idea... besides she LOVES to swim...
  5. I'm so glad I posted! I was ALMOST convincing myself that above ground would be "ok"... as far as purpose.. no diving really... marco polo and floating around sounds great.. some laps would be good.. HEY that could be my new exercise routine..
  6. Just reverse 2 & 3 and you and I are on the same routine , but I get my daughter ready for school during step 2 so, I couldn't do it your way Pink Suits, Dawn Suiter
  7. tears of relief are running down my cheeks..

  9. this weeks POTW is pretty cool.. 16 year old Jesse, one of AAC's frequent flyers.. this is on his 4th 15 min visit (he's a former Flaway PF instructor.
  10. The Bay area will see a wind tunnel sometime soon... but that's all I can say for now
  11. Hey Sean that's WONDERFUL news!! Congratulations!!!
  12. Several times a year for years now!!! Next one is on October 29th and involves a flyable costume contest! I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it!! Usually tunnelrats fly in from all over the place and we meet at one central location.. done SVO a couple times, Flyaway PF several times, AAC once before, the Halloween "BOO"gie as we're calling it will be there.. flight time by the minute, totally unscripted It's a blast!! None of us drink though really, but we still know how to have a good time
  13. We go to the convention faithfully every year we move in early and stay late... but this year we couldn't secure a tunnel... which could've been nice not having to actually WORK the convention for once, BUT it starts later and later every year and this year SO late that school started here 2 days before the WFFC began, so we just couldn't do it! How awful... it was sorely missed, and it IS much more expensive than previous years but as long as the dates conflict with school... we'll NEVER get to go again! Pink Suits!!!
  14. Hey D, My site does show it.. it's privately owned, shouldn't be open for the public. It will however be available for the occasional local area event. Owned by some MD's from central IN. :)
  15. Hey 'Eule', What a cmplete report!! I'm sure it's been very informative for folks reading here on DZ.com... two quick things I wanted to touch on after reading.. Dan's real name is Mike (no biggie really!!) And it's quite likely that AAC will always operate using an advanced reservations system. The Swiss have used that type of system in the past and we're all pretty happy with the benefits. It helps keep costs down and provides a more private atmosphere to the visitors. Not a filter at all, after 20 years the owner is pretty much decided on how he wants things to operate.. but he can be receptive to new ideas. Until we see you again.... Happy flying! Send our love to Jack & Rebecca & the kids!!! Pink Suits, Blue Skies & Fast Air, Dawn Suiter

  17. Very interesting... the only wind tunnel near there under construction right now was supposed to be a secret.... but then after reading this http://skydiveelsinorecommunity.com/cgi-bin/iB/ikonboard.cgi?s=7e67b2fbf7807e55e9a336f9ca54bbae;act=ST;f=6;t=46;st=20 I felt much better.. cute guys Pink Suits, Blue Skies & Fast Air, Dawn Suiter PMT Delegate
  18. Hi, A coaching package/book of 5 you'll get 15-20 minutes of flyng time total, and the rest will be verbal coaching & video watching. You'll do great..and you'll get to observe other flyers and you'll enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Have fun! Pink Suits, Blue Skies & Fast Air, Dawn Suiter PMT Delegate
  19. Every VWT that is operational or soon to be or was recently, is on Bodyflight Network www.bodyflight.net It also has FAQs, links to relevant sites, and a tunnel flyer directory. Once you choose a tunnel location, you can inquire directly with them about procedure... as with most franchises, SkyVentures generally use the same procedures regardless of the location, while the rest of the VWTs have their own independant way of doing things. And you can cross reference their location with the DZ list on this site, but quickly AAC in North Carolina is near Skydive Carolina, a fabulous liitle gem of a DZ here in the east.. Flyaway PFs closest DZ is Skydive Tennessee in Tullahoma TN, and ASC in Cedartown Georgia, nice little place with great onsite catering!! Obviously SkyVenture Perris is on the beautiful and big DZ skydive Perris! and SkyVenture Orlando is surrounded by DZs Deland, Titusville, Lake Whales, Zephyrhills.. All are excellent candidates The rest of your questions can be answered by the tunnel you choose, to avoid confusion. How much time depends on what you want to accomplish.. I tell people 15 minutes is a good start, but if you would like to take anything back to the sky with some sort of feeling of mastery, 30 minutes is much better. One person can easily do 30 minutes in one day, ideally the tunnel you choose will be able to sell you additional time by the minute (or two) after that if you want and can handle more. 20. We're all hooked up now at the Super8 Richburg.. thank god.. high speed internet, plus they're pet friendly! I couldn't ask for more.. well except a discount.. oh wait.. they gave me one of those too
  21. Hey Ron, Thanks for the offer, but we're already committed to Chester, SC this weekend at Skydive Carolina!! We're donating up to 30 free minutes of tunnel time for the auction/raffle, and we'll be sittin by a video display most of the weekend!
  22. Well.. we gotta make that happen!! TDog, thanks for your clarity, I am glad to know your views, they helped to brighten my day just a bit For us, this thread has been wonderful.. I'm glad the original poster is now going to get some tunnel time, hopefully they'll come back and let us all know how it went! We are certainly going to make another 'scenario' available to our students as a result of this thread. We are going to buy a countdown altimeter, and offer our 'harness' (straps like a rig) to all AFF students.. this should help immediately with more familiar grips & placing our coaches on the 'main' side of the student, as well as altimeter checks and might even make timing flights easier. Our Tunnel Rigs are still in development with the manufacturer, when we have those it'll be even nicer & more realistic. We will also always make available our traditional methods which have worked well for John for 20+ years too.. which include just the learn to fly part, because then the rest is cake, when your a profficient flyer already. We are usually privy to at least a conversation with the AFFI who sends the students our way.. these choices ought to help us use the best method for each student, depending on their end goals. So thanks everyone!!
  23. Well.. that's pretty good time then, if they (first timers) are doing 360s & stopping on heading that quickly (avg. 15 min), that's alot of control
